(I did the source 2 port, putting the head on the redmenace bodies, adding the face flexes)
(THG is doing polish on the source 2 port, face flexes, textures, normal maps, and some mesh modifications.)
The model is made from heavily modifying the hl2 survivor head, putting it on the redmenace and smug hla gordon outfits, giving him hair and beard from hla gordon, and the death stranding Gordon glasses. And then adding more modifications after that.

Gordon, if he actually had the time to process anything that's happened to him in the past week of his life, would probably have a very visceral reaction to Vortigaunts.
Yeah, I won't be suprised if the one he meet later in the canals rebel cargo box base (that one with the TV and the other rebel in) was killed immediatly and was canon. He would probably has at least 10 PTSDs about it

Fun fact: in the original Half-Life, during the "Interloper" chapter in Xen, you meet a lot of friendly vortigaunts, who pay no attention to you and only start attacking it there's a Controller flying nearby. The "Black Mesa" remake also did that.
So maybe Gordon was smart enough to notice that, and wouldn't have that much of a reaction to seeing them in HL2?
I like to imagine that after he got off the train he saw the vort Obviously wasn't being aggressive or anything. He's literally enslaved again and sweeping up the floor. He probably reflected on that a little bit, but still probably didn't trust them fully until later in the game when you crash into that train cart and meet that guy and the vort just chilling watching TV. Probably a bit. Shocking but it was pretty obvious that nothing malicious was going on and they even help him out by giving him some extra suit charger but definitely a dramatic change in behavior from half-life 1 to half life 2. It's probably like some whiplash for Gordon

The Vorts view Gordon as a savior and don't blame him for defending himself against their own kind who were enslaved and had no choice in the matter.

As one other comment mentioned it, using his HEV model for the background figures/manifestations was definitely the right choice. BUT instead of using the new HL:A HEV Gordon model and calling it a day, using the HL1 Box Art/PS2 model was FUCKING BRILLIANT. I absolutely fucking love it when I see smart details like these and the meanings behind them. I've seen some other videos of yours before but this alone straight up secured you top 3 for me as a HL SFM memes and recreations maker along with the likes of the legend CoreyLaddo and such. Big props.

So in a way, that vortigunt is endlessly being killed while teaming up with gordon and the resistance while being on xen while looking at him in real time. Hope you can wrap your head around that loll.

A phobia implies a fear of something. Gordon doesn't fear vortigaunts, he loathes them with all of his existence. From his perspective, just a few hours ago he was stranded in a world full of them that attacked him on sight (mostly, except for the factory where they only attacked if a grunt or a controller was watching) and had to kill a massive space baby controlling them before one of Patrick Bateman's friends forced him into stasis just to pull him onto a train.

Literally me a month ago, when I first started playing HL2, after HL1. "Huh? Isn't that this alien from Black Mesa? Why isn't it attacking? How can it talk? Why is it working with humans together?" After reading online: "Huh? Slavery? What? They were attacking because they were afraid or confused? WHY THE FUCK AM I READING THIS FROM THE WIKI ARTICLE AND NOT FROM THE GAME ITSELF??"
The Hl1 vortis had some metal things on their hands and bodies. You can see that they don't have these in hl2. They were actually greeting you when the crash at the beginning of the game started. It can be thought that there is slavery involved. Of course, I learned these from the wiki, but if this game had been released to today's standards, they would have included all of them.
I feel like it's better when they don't tell you this stuff because it gets you invested in the world that they created.
There is so much stuff that we still don't know about these games' lore and that's why it's so interesting.
I do like what Black Mesa did with the Vorts in Xen, showing off how they are taken under control by those flying assholes in a very Half-Life way, and making it so you can free Vorts under control without harming them by killing those things

Admittedly, he wasn't given a proper briefing before being dropped off to City 17, if he had his HEV Suit right off the bat, I am fairly certain City 17 would've crumbled in general a lot faster, Vorts included.
If he spawned into city 17 with his hev suit and no weapons, the combine would realize immediately that gordon Freeman isnt a normal citizen and would get his ass kicked once he comes out of the train

This makes me realize that Eli probably only had an idea of what Freeman did during the HL1. Sure he’s probably heard stories from the vorg and his other friends.
