Another factor to keep in mind is your dexterity in handling the skills required in computer games. I tanked, healed and dps in high level raids in vanilla up til downing Lich King. I found tanking by far the most difficult and demanding. I would be physically drained after an encounter. You need far twitch reactions and a complete awareness of everything that’s going on. Next most difficult is healing. Once again have to have a complete awareness of whole raid. These two hardest followed by melee dps. Easily the most undemanding is ranged dps. The only worry you have is getting max dps and occasionally moving to avoid harm.
Well said Patrick. I, too, tanked original vanilla, MT through Naxx... it would frustrate me when the dps laughed after a clear and said, “That was easy mode.” Really?!? People who want easy mode better not try and tank, FYI...
This was actually, unironically, the best class-picking video I've seen yet. It's one thing to lean into your personal strengths in video games but at the end of the day you're going to be attracted most to a class that best synergizes with your personality. RPG's are not only built for roleplaying (it's in the name), they're built for sinking a lot of time into, and WoW is exemplary of this. It's easiest to get immersed into playing as a character that you most want to be and/or see yourself as, and the more immersed you are, the less grindy and taxing an RPG will feel, and considering how grindy vanilla gets past 40 that's a much more major factor than you might think.
Great video. I like the focus on class personality over optimal this and that. Probably the number 1 thing I think about whenever I'm picking a class in a game is whether it speaks to me on a bit of a deeper level. Usually gameplay comes second. First class i played was also druid for pretty much the same reason you did, I come from the countryside in Shropshire and always grew up playing in the woods and countryside. Thinking Paladin this time round though. I feel like It's the closest thing to a classic English knight or crusader. Who knows, perhaps I'll stick with Druid after all.
Thank you for making this easy for me which all the other “guides, tips and tricks” videos couldn’t do! I now know that I will be rolling with a priest :)

If you want to go full meta(hah), you should try to predict what kind of classes are going to be popular, then pick something based around that. And just looking at whatever is popular in the beta won't be enough as that doesn't really say anything about the level 60 spread. I personally think healing(esp. priest) is going to be a very oversaturated role this time around, while hunter is going to be very underplayed compared to vanilla(where it was THE most popular class). Mage or Warlock will also be very popular, definitely the most popular DPS classes. So that kinda makes Rogue, Hunter and Warrior(and prob Shaman, but that's kind of a wonky class, IMO) my picks if you want to play something underrepresented, with rogues probably taking the top spot. (Why would you want play something underrepresented, then? Drops and raid spots basically. It will make a huge difference, too)
That's exactly the point. People nowadays just think about doing more dps or tank better than other one and forget about play with a class that fits them. I'll play as an undead priest because I love how undead looks and their mount and because I love support.

What if I skip picking the shadow form?, or should I just go full holy or try some smite dmg build?, Hunter and go the middle talent tree mostly, Warlock destruction or a affliction with lots of self healing and demon sacrifice for more healing and shields.
Best class is mage, you don't need anything else tbh.
