Hi Helen:I just found your video. I love your delicate and kind manner. It’s a joy to watch you paint.
That’s very kind of you Judith. X
STOP DOUBTING YOURSELF👍👍A lot of friends can relate to your videos, and we will always be with you so that you can grow bigger in the future. 😍😍
Hi Helen, as I look at this, it reminds me of something I love but always found a bit intimidating and perplexing because of the complex layers -- hydrangeas. I hope to be able to watch you break down the process for this one day if it’s a topic you like too 😁
Thank you for the uplifting boost!
Thank you 😊
Rae, you have painted sooooo many beautiful things here and on your Patreon channel but this is my new favorite. I was just taken in by the wonderful colors and the blending.....it is really amazing to watch. I don't really know what else to add except thank you. It's true joy to see what you create. I'm so thankful that I am able to follow along! Blessings!
Thank you Trina. I’m so glad that you enjoy them. Thank you for your kind words xx
It IS mesmerizing! Beautiful! Thank you for sharing your skills and tips!
Thank you Wendy
Another wonderful tutorial, thank you 👩🏼🎨
Thank you
Thanks for your quick answer. I will start my color chart now.
I am a total rookie, with just a basic 12-pan wn cotman set, a size 6 brush and some cold-pressed paper. I studied color theory so i could multiply my colors but sometimes it’s natural to wish i had more varieties to work with. 😁
There’s nothing wrong with Cotman paints at all. They are very good x
That’s. really beautiful painting such lovely colours, many thanks Helen.
Thank you Wendy
New sub! U give confidence to those who have no idea what they're doing and I love how you go step by step and supplies used with links !
Thank you 😊
The technique and the way you break it down is simply phenomenal and allows me to attempt it bit by bit. You’re one of the best teachers in the internet! Thank you for sharing your beautiful talent! Howdy from Texas!
Aw that’s very kind of you. Thank you xx

I really like succulents, but I already tried to paint them and it didn't work. I'm learning to paint and also practicing English whith you (I am from Portugal). Thank you so mutch! 🥰😘😘
Thank you very much
I just recently found your channel and it’s so relaxing to watch. You are extremely talented. I definitely lack confidence to paint, thank you for sharing this video. You make it look so effortless and easy ☺️
Thank you very much
Oh WOW Helen, BEAUTIFUL succulent painting, thank you for your encouraging and inspiring words!!❤️🥰🙏🏼
Many thanks x
Yet another amazing tutorial Rae!
Thank you scott xx
So beautiful! I love my succulent plants and how you can think they're mostly green, but when you really look at the they have such beautiful colors. So this was super fun to watch ;) I have to work on patience and slowing down...my hands don't give me loads of time to use them before they cramp up beyond use, so I try to rush, but I know things always look SO much better when I take my time and layer color for more depth and interest. I don't have these colors, I have my itty-bitty adorable sized Daniel Smith Moonglow and a very bright opera pink, but not sure its the same. But those greens and blues and the..oh boy I already forgot the name, my brain fog is heavy today, the more grayish one...gosh those are gorgeous colors!! Especially the blues. Beautiful! I'll have to play with mixing some to see about getting something similar.
So fun to watch, as always.
Thanks so much for all your efforts to share your work :)
I love moonglow but don’t use it to its full potential. Thank you for taking the time to write. I’ve just sent you an email to see if I’ve the correct address. X
@@helencampbell yup, I got it :)
Yea, I probably don't use it to its full potential either but it is a fun different feel for some shadows or different things. But its also expensive so I probably hold back using it some, though I should probably just use it :)
Thanks a bunch :)
Beautiful ❤️
Thank you Orietta
Very nice painting!😍
Thank you
Love watching you Helen! You break the process down and make it more accessible to the beginner! Love your channel! Hello from Palm Beach Florida!❤️
Thank you very much Judith. And hi from the Cotswolds UK x
Amazing 🌹💐🥀artwork so realistic❤
Many thanks 😊
This was fun! Thank you!
Thanks Tina x
Hi Helen I've been watching some of your other paintings and there is some really beautiful pieces as is this one. I have drawn out my first botanical subject in my sketch book which is going to be apple blossom although it's my own drawing. Going through some of the comments I see your from the cotswolds I live in Swindon so not far away depending on which part of the cotswolds you live.
Hi Clive. Thank you for your comments. I’m more the Gloucestershire side of the Cotswolds It’s a lovely place
Nice Helen you painting art so beautifull inspiring
Thank you 😊
I love your art!!thankyou 😊
Thank you 😊
That copper blue is sweeeeet!!!
Isn’t it 😀
Oh Helen, that's so BEAUTIFUL!!! I love the colours you used!! Thanks for always being such an inspiration ❤️❤️❤️👍👍🤗🤗🤗👏👏👏👏
Thank you very much Dr Bee. Xxxxx
Hi Karen! I liked this very much indeed! I love these beautiful coloured succulents. They are just so stunning to paint! Many thanks! 🥰🥰🥰
Daniel Smith equivalents? Thanks so much for all you do for us. You make watercolor painting approachable! On the issue of tracing, vs not tracing, I feel it does not make you less of an artist. It is a choice you make.
Thank you. Regarding the equivalent paints perhaps you could let me know which colours you have for the nearest the ones that I’ve chosen so that I can help you. As a general rule, viridian would replace the harbour blue and the copper blue, with a little bit Paynes grey or something added to the harbour blue, if you’ve got Moonglow that would replace the Noturrno
Just found your channel! Loving so far
Thank you Leanne
Very nice!
very good
Thank you.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Amazing
Thank you
I only wish you had an Instagram option instead of Facebook. It’s just something I’m trying to avoid. Your painting is wonderful! Do you have a link to this particular color set in the US shop? I’m having trouble finding it. The copper blue and harbor blue are such amazingly beautiful colors!
I am on Instagram. Perhaps I could start to but the line drawing there in the future. I don’t have a us link I’m sorry
I would appreciat Instrgram also. I avoid Facebook! You are amazing Helen. Thank you for sharing your talent.
@@river4140 hi. From last week we are posting the line drawings on the community tab, right here on RUclips so you don’t even have to leave my channel LOL x
THANK YOU!!!
Hello, really enjoyed watching this. Would you consider a tutorial with 2 to 3succulents on one page?
Thank you. Yes absolutely. I’ll need to find a few good photos first though
In the meantime I have this HOW TO PAINT A SUCCULENT PLANT

it's finally here😯😯😯😯🥳I've been waiting for this one in particular 😍😍😍😍😍 Thanks Helen. it might be awhile til i give this a go, i have a lot of catching up to do 🤭
Aw have you? I really hope you enjoy it. Let me know how you get in when you get around to painting it x
I used to think I couldn’t paint. I’ve improved so much recently. I can paint. Yah, me.
That’s absolutely brilliant x
We take for granted that Renaissance artists drew their masterpieces freehand in a few strokes of genius. But the truth is they had tricks - including tracing.
There is prove that some famous artists traced read the internet.
Exactly. Thank you x
Hi Helen I love this. I only have Windsor Newton colours. Could you please suggest which I could use. Thank you
Hi Janice. Copper blue can be replaced with viridian. Harbour blue you could mix indigo to that but don’t add too much. Opera rose for the pink and then a little purple to the blue mix. Hope this helps. The colours won’t be the same but it should work
@@helencampbell thank you
@@helencampbell thank you. I love your tutorials thank you so much for spending the time to give us these,as I am a pensioner and unable to afford classes, you have given me the opportunity to learn. I have learned so much about watercolour and loving them. 😊
My absolute pleasure x
Started on the succulent yesterday but got very frustrated trying to mix all of the colors with my Daniel Smith paints. I finally gave up but today decided to ask your advice with colors. Are there any DS colors equivalents to your colors without a lot of mixing. I never seem to mix enough and then to try and match - that is where I gave up. Thanks for any help.
Keep it simple. I recommend making a simple swatch card as I’ve done in this video. It makes matching colours a breeze. If you are still stuck let me know what colours you have and I’ll try to help

Hi Helen, can’t find the box to join the group.
Is anyone painting along with Mission Folds Pure Pigment Set? Just curious what you chose to use if so
Hi. I’ve never heard of them sorry
With utmost respect an Artist would never trace,!
Thank you for your comment
I just feel like I must respond to your comment. As a beginner.....I feel like whatever it takes to get me started is the way to go. If I feel like I need to start with a pencil drawing/tracing to get to the painting part, which is my goal in becoming an artist, I will trace. Honestly it does not make me feel like I am not an artist.
@@anncapps5844 I totally agree. Everyone can do what they want to. It’s their art xx

Sorry, I refuse to join facebook for any reason. You're free sketches aren't worth giving up privacy and subscribing to a known China collaborator.
