Great article in honor of Hoss. You described him well because his individualism can through on the show.

There was no one on the show better than Dan Blocker. I especially enjoyed his love of the animals. He was so gratefully loved. The show was still good but there was a big hole once he was gone. What a great man!

While still a very young man in the 1960's I was fortunate to meet all the cast of bonanza ,it was during the festival known as feather fiesta days in Oroville ca. I never knew a man could be so large while shaking Mr Blockers hand my little hand looked like a toddlers hand in a catchers mit to me he was truly huge but I knew he was truly a gentle giant R.I.P Hoss

I had watched Bonanza since I was 4 yrs old and I remember when DNA Blocker died it was a very sad. Hoss and Joe and their father is what made this series very interesting to watch. It brought out emotions on Bonanza it made us laugh or cry and love my family and I never got tired of the series. When the news hit about Dan Blocker it felt as though a family wasn’t going to be there any more. I came from a big family. There were 7 of us children and Bonanza was really the only show that all of us would watch without fighting over the TV.. Well once Dan died that was end for me. I loved all the actors but a piece was still missing and no one could filled the void. Back then 14 seasons was a long time running series on TV I enjoyed them all.

Yes I was alive then and watched Bonanza every week. I remember Blockers death was a very sad time for many Americans as was the Vietnam war. I remember Walter Cronkite every night with that days body count.

Everything he said about Dan Blocker I’m sure is true, and he deserves being honored with this video. But like most everything, nothing stays the same, and I wonder if it can even be found anywhere as reruns, maybe, but eventually it won’t, like many other popular shows, movies, and entertainment stars, and every day life itself, new generations of people take over, and the glory is forgotten in time; In this world anyway, but not the next, so the things we do still matter.
