Hey thanks for making this video I recently got the first generation CRV just trying to make it more modern and make it last a lot longer I really appreciate the design of it and it's useful for the stuff that I need to do in this video really helped
97 crv had misfiring code. Did a compression test and then car wouldn't start. After checking for spark from the plugs and ignition coil did a check at the power terminals which wasn't flashing when cranking engine, so I've replaced the ignition control module and it still won't start and same thing with the light check, no flashing when cranking. I thought based on the tests that it wasn't the ignition coil itself but should I try that next, or would you assume it's the crankshaft position sensor, or something else altogether????
OK I have a problem it’s happened twice so far where I will be running around park my car somewhere come back out probably within like 1520 minutes on my car still a little hot try and fire up my car and it’ll just crank and won’t start I let it sit for a few hours come back out she fires right up my local guy says that he thinks he’s a distributor module any thoughts😬
Thanks for the Video Bro, I have the same Honda and my problem is that I do have spark but the car doesn't want to start, and sometimes start and run for a little while you turn it off and when you try turn it on again it doesn't want to start anymore, and smell Gas. What could be the problem? The mechanic said is the distributor?
Had a similar issue with b20z in 95eg and after all the bullshit n money it end up being a blown o ring in the fuel pump regulator! Lol always use stock Honda parts unless no choice!
I changed the plugs and the cap and I am still not getting crank. I lost power after 30 minutes of driving my 97 cr-v. Can it be the fuel pump/ crankshaft position sensor?
I have a 1998 crv. Mine will crank and run smoothly without issue. But once it is turned off it will not restart. I hear the click after you turn the key. We have replaced the distributor, brand new plugs, wires, and crank sensor, fuel pump, and fuel injecter. There is no change. It still cranks smoothly but once turned off it will not restart. Leaving you stranded for an unknown amount of time before it will restart. Any idea on what else it could be?
I had the happen to me before but on an old GMC Vandura. Turned out it was a busted wire in the starter solenoid. It would start cold but after you drove it for a while, especially on a hot day, the wire would get hot enough to contract and break contact inside. I would have to wait until it cooled down enough to expand and make contact again to start.
Plz somebody or anybody my 98 crv would not fire so first I replaced the coil.. brand new still won't fire. Later a friend of mind told me if still dead, is first to take out the coil and take off also the ignition control module right in behind the coil, he guarantees me that that is the culprit. Pliz is he right on this module component thing? Pliz help me out. Thank you.
My issue was a bad alternator, bad starter, bad ignition coils,, then it was a timing chain issue. So far those were the only NO Crank NO start solutions that I had, 2002 Honda CRV
I have a 2000 RD1 crv Manual( if that helps) mine cranks no start but i also have a buzzing coming from the main relay. Any tips on what to do for diagnosis ?
I have a problem with mine 99 CR-V it cranks no Stat and sometimes start and after driving a little don't want to start anymore and smell Gas. Any thoughts?? Thanks
My grandma crv died while driving I turn the key and i can hear the fuel pump prime and relay click by the dash when I go to start it there no crank no start but you can hear someone spinning I thought it was the starter but I put one in and still the same thing I put new dizzy camp too still nothing I can’t put the rotor in because it won’t crank over any help with be great Ty great video
No crank... but hearing spinning.. hmmm you might be missing teeth on the flywheel/TQ converter. Remove the starter and check the teeth inside the transmission. Also check all your electric connections. Especially at the battery. Good luck.
I did not see you verify that that distributor rotor was turning. If it does not turn while cranking the timing belt has broke and you get a crank no start. Don't worry it is not an interference fit.
My 2001 was sitting for a few months...i started it to pull down to garage to charge battery...ran fine..soon as the charge was done car wounldnt start...it was distributer...had a broke down crv in yard for parts..grabbed the one off of it and switched...started right up...strange how they die just like that!

2003 crv honda good battery but doesn’t even make the turning engine over sound it’s just “ dead” but the battery is good …. 😣 I was trying to jump it because I thought it was the battery but it isn’t Took it out and took to o reilys and they said the battery is good and the starter is my next guess but not sure. It won’t try to turn on like in this video. And the lights don’t come on
Are the cables connected well? If the battery is good but the lights don't come on it is usually a bad wire connection. Or a fuse is bad or the ignition switch is bad. Jumping it had no effect?
@@TheCohesiveGarage ok the lights do come on and when I open the door it does make the noise the wires are connected good. Last week when I tried it. It didn’t even wanna crank when I tried to jump it that me prior to knowing the battery was “ goood “ I am gonna try the fuses. Now. And no jumping had no effect to help start or anything it was like if I didn’t have it connnected at all it was useless
@@AA-fz1ce Sometimes the jumper cables are not connected well. So, if it is a bad starter someone should hold the key in Start position and someone tap the starter with something and if it starts its a bad starter.

Hard work with one hand tools and another one with camera to give some information is so appreciative. Thanks Tommie
Your video just saved me couple hundred dollars. This is exactly why my car wasn’t starting
Very well done. Thank you

It was the crankshaft sensor for me. I thought it was the distributor before watching this video... didn't check the engine code. xD

You can also turn the engine by hand by rotating the front crank pully bolt to get your rotor off. But check the teeth before you rotate.

How do you know it’s not the alternator?
Because the starter turns over the engine powerfully and the battery is fully charged.
