Quadlock mag-case phone stand trick is a game changer! I stick mine to the fridge/ hotplate gantry depending what I'm doing at work 😁 Oh and yeah great video as always 😉
Freddie, I just want to say that your videos have given me so much pleasure, and many laughs. I hope that it continues to be viable for you and Monica to produce these videos, you guys provide a valuable service. Good luck sir!
I remember in around 1977 we lived in Germany and i contacted the Suzuki dealer in Ipswich to buy a brand new 380 gt in black. I travel all the way to Ipswich picked it up and road it all the way back to Germany in two days. I was hooked from then on, loving the channel Freddy
Here's a trick I've been doing for years. Always fill the petrol tank before returning home., and adding additive to the fuel. You'll always be ready to ride and never have to worry about running out before getting to the station. Also, with the fuel pump in the tank, you'll be risking damage to the pump that needs to be cooled by the gas. A cover for the Bonny would keep all the dust off. Even a simple bed sheet is better than nothing. 👍👍
Funny, with my GS I always filled up as I went out. I had to allow for some extra time and I knew the range, so I wasn't caught out. But that saved me pushing a top heavy bike around the garage. 😉
Freddie and Monica, the wife and me love watching your videos and your boyish fun and outlook on life. What you need now is a tow hook on the Jeep and a Motolug collapsible bike trailer. We’ve not long been back from 3 weeks holiday in France with my RE interceptor in the trailer. Car stayed at the campsite and we toured around on the bike and loved every minute of it. Next year, Airbnb’s and explore the uk with car and bike. This has been inspired by your videos and the adventures you’ve both had. So thank you Freddie and Monica and keep up the great work. Simon & Karen … by the way, we’re both in our 60,s
Great video Freddie. A little tip regarding fuel. When you next fill up your (rather lovely) Jeep. Take a petrol can and put 5 litres of E5 fuel in it. E5 fuel stays fresh for up to 12 months (unlike E10, which starts going off after a month). You can leave it in a cupboard and use it if the fuel level of one of your bikes drops very low. After 8 or so months without use, you can pour it into the Jeep and prepare a fresh can of E5 at the pump. I always add a dash of Redex to the can too as this extends the life even further and cleans your engine too when used 🙂
Freddie you’re a gem. I haven’t had electricity since Friday night and charging my phone off my Triumph. This morning this video put a smile on my face.
Freddie, I vote for a Tenerife trip, not least because of Freddie's-channel-nostalgia. I discovered your channel right after I bought my 2023 Triumph Speed Twin 900, when you did such a pleasant review on one riding around Tenerife. At least, I'm pretty sure it was Tenerife--it's been a while since I watched it. Still loving my bike and no problems with it whatsoever! Thanks for all that you & Monika do! Your videos always make for a happy & relaxing coffee break!
Freddie, its facinating to see a little bit of Ipswich. My Grandfather was born there in about 1872. He served in Queen Victoria's 11th Hussars for 12 years until 1903. After serving in South Africa and India he migrated to NZ. I never met him as he died in 10.06.1945 when my father was only 12 years old. I'd like to see more.
I love it when you drop a video Sunday morning and you dont sugar coat your reviews on bikes and as a rule i always re fuel when i have 20 miles range left on our vehicles , love your channel Freddie
Freddie&Monica, just want to thank you for what you do. I realy like watching your movies - motorcycles, travels, daily life. I now return to motorcycling again and in fact this is mostly because of you 😊 Freddie I would vote on you to be our Petrolhead's President!
I ran a hire car in Spain down to zilch en route back to the airport. It conked out about 200yds from a fuel stop. Me and 3 kids pushing and wife steering with a lot of deserved hen pecking!!! I manfully tried to refuel a couple of litres to get to the airport still proud of my frugality😊. As I put the pump in the tank it blew back a lot of diesel ?? Air I don’t know but I was covered in smelly diesel. I had to throw my clothes and shoes. I absolutely stunk of diesel on the flight home. I have never got near to running out again. Not have my kids ever let me forget it. Including it in a photo montage and piss take about my whole life😂 at my 65 th birthday
Hi Freddie, Indian Motorcycles began with an Irish emigrant to the USA. He was originally from the North side of Dublin!! 😊 There is a plaque on a terrace house here in Dublin indicating where he used to live. Love the channel
Give us a little bit of Tenerife nostalgia please :) ps: by the way at the end of this month/beginning of November I'm going on a solo adventure from Portugal to Tenerife on my beloved Triumph Scrambler, with only a departure ticket from Huelva! Thanks to the inspiration you and Monika have given me with the videos of your Tenerife saga, I'm finally going to glide along those wonderful roads with those breathtaking views with my personal motorcycle. From Anaga to Puerto de la Cruz, passing beautiful El Teide to El Medano, Los Gigantes and Masca... Oohhhh I can't wait to ride it all ahaha
Freddie your Bonneville needs a good cleaning before leaving it in the lockup then I suggest an indoor cover, I use one from the Oxford company on my Ducati for around £20, perfect.

7:24 It wasn't clear from your "Scotland Awaits" video whether or not you used a new sump plug washer. They're single use items and should not be reused. They're only pennies so buy half-a-dozen and keep them in your Libertatia tool roll and you'll always be prepared. I think they're aluminium from the factory, (like my Ducati), but copper works just as well. The one thing you mustn't be tempted to do to stop a leaking drain plug is to just keep tightening it - that's a surefire way to strip the threads and then your slight drip becomes a much bigger problem. I believe the torque setting is 25Nm (check with Joe).

Hey Freddie, I also have a 2022 Chief. They are cold blooded so when cold starting don’t blip the throttle right away, that could kill it when cold. Also the fuel gauge reads very low when on its side stand, and if already low on fuel may not want to start until you stand it up. The fuel pump probably isn’t in an ideal spot I guess.
Captain practical strikes again😂 !! I love your reviews and your manner and delivery,…. Also like your school boy errors. Don’t ever change. Makes you human 👍
I generally have a tub of fuel in my garage just in case, but it's not something everyone can do especially in your circumstances. I like to go to new places but sometimes going to a home away from home location makes it a relaxing break. I was down in San Sebastian in January and rode up to Biaritz as I was so close and relived a road trip I did 20+ years ago. Memories are goot to revisit too.
Next time you go on a trip. You might also consider Valencia, Spain as you like Barcelona and Tenerife. Lovely sceneries, beautiful old center and the beach.
The thing about running dry/low is if the fuel pump is in the tank which most cars are the fuel actually keeps the pump cool. Whereas if running in air the pump gets hot and early demise of the pump plus any crap in the tank from the petrol forecourt tanks. Put some fuel additive in the tank too or drain it.
We are heading to the Picos mountains and came through Biarritz . Lovely it is . Get down to Northern Spain the roads are absolutely stunning, big sweepers and low traffic at the moment . Recommended Cheers
I can reccomend Portofino and Santa Margherita Liguria for a holiday. Simon Kidston style cinematic roads etc. The Moto Guzzi factory tours would provide some wheels I bet!
Freddie, you should move out to the countryside, get yourself a small farm with a barn so you can store, clean & maintain your vehicles any time you want to.
If your Chief is really low on fuel it will not start if it is on the sidestand due to where the fuel pickup is in the tank. As soon as you stand the bike upright it will start fine and you can make it to a fuel station. Fuel gauge is not the problem. ;)
@FreddieDobbs Yeah, it'll take a little time after you stand it up Freddie. The owners manual also states to stand the bike upright before turning the bike on to get s more accurate fuel gauge reading.
@@FreddieDobbsit’s a bad idea to let any car/bike get that low. It’s one of them things that used to be said from days of carbs but I believe it still to be true.
I'd forgive that Indian Bobber for not having an accurate fuel gauge easily, it looks so good. Your videos are always easy to watch. Looking forward to the next one.
4:44 this is exactly why i never let my bike sit on one bar of fuel, always aim to top up as soon as i see it drop lucky you made it to the petrol station! :)
Freddie My friend, WE both have same Bonneville I told you before. I just bought my Bonneville A3 SE Battery from my nearest Triumph Service. YuasaYTX12-BS. Not yet filled those Electrolytes.

I can recomend Norway if you can get it right with the weather. I went over for 5 days at the begining of Septemer and rented a bike and little cabin in Egersund. Amazing roads and scenery!. (Flew into Stavanger which is a short filght). Expensive though!.
Freddie, try Gran Canaria, the riding is even better than Tenerife and the scenery is just as breathtaking. Canary Ride out of Las Palmas are a great rental company with a good selection of very well kept bikes. I have ridden in both islands and they are both amazing but the selection and variety of routes in GC wins out for me.
Sunday Biker Brunch at the Henley Cross Keys pub , about 6 miles north of Ipswich about a mile out of Henley village , quaint country pub , community pub , great food and biker friendly , between 10am and 12 . Indian Sport Chief owner here. The range estimate is very slow at adjusting on the move but drops like a stone on switched off. I've had a couple of issues starting on low fuel especially if stood for a while. Always starts but I try not to put it away on a low tank

Maybe Australia? Victoria is nice as summer starts in December. You can both kip in our spare room and use the jeep or Goldwing for days out. All you need is air fare.. Dan in Australia
There was an Indian Dakota 4 made in Scotland during the 1990s. A very limited number of bikes were made with a 4 cylinder engine made from bits of Volvo & VW engines. Probably worth some research......
Not interested in fuel gauges on motorcycles, never had one and never run out of fuel, yet ! I have however run out of fuel in a car. Don’t know why you don’t move to Ipswich full time or some other place where you can look after your bike properly.
Freddie, we are just back from a bike trip to Biarritz and then back over the mountains to Pamplona . Can totally recommend a bike / car trip but not this time of year ……..
When I lived in Texas I fancied a Wrangler Unlimited. Went to weekend test one and it was the most appallingly uncomfortable and poorly handling cart I’ve ever experienced. I couldn’t find any scenario except on the beach where it was tolerable. Even the cabin is badly laid out. Bought a Grand Cherokee instead.
Indian motorcycles had an R&D department in England a few years ago. I visited their stand at the NEC perhaps 10 years ago, and a guy on it said, so but wouldn't elaborate any further...
Freddie, you've hit the big time, five young robotic ladies commenting on your latest video. It's one of my bugbears, inaccurate range meter thingies, it's another of those digital encroachments that we don't really need. My Triumph Scrambler has a dreadful habit of showing 20+ miles of range when I get home and 3 miles when I next get on it. I'd much rather a simple gauge. I'm beginning to think, like you, that there's a sweet spot for bikes and that my Triumph is just a bit too modern.
I do get quite a lot of bots commenting, and I still don’t understand why it happens😆 I’m going to have to be much more careful with the range from now on!
Did you do up the sump plug ok Usually you have to replace the washer which is on the sump plug , not sure if it’s the case of or the Bonneville Might be worth checking with Joe at the Wurks
That's right, fuck it, just ride, and see if you make it! Funny thing too, you can see that you really like it, you feel it has flaws, but just don't want to see them!
Blockhouse Indian is who you are thinking about they rebadged royal Enfield and velocette for the American market,.also the man who helped Indian onto racing history was an Irishman called Franklin.
I don't believe it's fuel with the Indian, Freddie. I have an Indian FTR 1200S and when the temperature drops below about 12 degrees outside, it refuses to start. This has happened since it was brand new. Krazy Horse replaced the battery a couple of times but that only fixed it for a few days. The minute the voltage drops even slightly, which happens in colder weather, it won't start. It just cranks until the battery dies. I cannot tell you how much hassle it was. It's now my summer bike so it's not really an issue but the only way to use it in cold weather is to have it plugged into a trickle charger which of course keeps the battery topped right up. It's a very bizarre thing for such an expensive vehicle - maybe something to do with getting it through UK emissions rules but there you have it - I don't know but I am certain thats it. Watching you waiting for it to fire brought back some horrible memories!
Freddie, even an Indian won’t run without gas. The look on your face was priceless. Let me give you some Jeep driving advice. Take it easy in the rain. Those big off-road Jeep tries suck in lite rain. You will slide around. And as for handling. It’s a Jeep! It’s not made to handle. It’s made to climb goat paths. Just like it’s not made to get good gas mileage. Over here in America only the mailman drives a right hand drive Jeep. And they have been driving them for a very long time. I hope you take the Bonnie on the next trip. The old girl is kind of a legend now. Shouldn’t you be cleaning HER instead of the press bike?
Idk why you took a white TV stand to the recycling center. You should’ve used it for something else, donated it to a thrift store, sold it to someone or gave it to someone. I think you bought a replacement one that matches your coffee table that’s mid century modern in style.
Freddie, I can’t believe you let the fuel get so low in the Indian, range remaining display is a guess at best and shouldn’t be relied on when it gets that low. I wouldn’t go below 50 miles range personally.
Quadlock mag-case phone stand trick is a game changer! I stick mine to the fridge/ hotplate gantry depending what I'm doing at work 😁 Oh and yeah great video as always 😉

I do get quite a lot of bots commenting, and I still don’t understand why it happens😆
I’m going to have to be much more careful with the range from now on!
You manage to show the best of Ipswich. Find I rarely go there now.
Live afew miles away. Would much rather travel to Bury.
just after WWll Vincent and Indian collaborated to make a Vindian. never made it past prototype yet a couple of examples still exist..
WOW!! Googling this immediately, thanks Richard😳
You are truly the only person I know who runs a bike so low on fuel.
Hi, Feddie; thank you for the wonderful content. Could you perhaps say a few words comparing the Indian to the FatBob? Thanks
Hi Freddie try Ipswich for 2 weeks looks a nice place to visit 😂
I have fitted a trickle charger on my bike, haven't had a problem since with a flat battery.
freddie. If u want a bonneville style but reliability u shoukd check out Honda cb1100. I have a 2013 but 2014 is also very clean
Did you do up the sump plug ok
Usually you have to replace the washer which is on the sump plug , not sure if it’s the case of or the Bonneville
Might be worth checking with Joe at the Wurks
Have you ever Bumped into The All Year Motorcyclist? ( TAYM). He is out Suffolk way
😬 don't touch anything slightly mechanical, Freddie! We know your history 🤣
Love that bike Freddie
It's a charmed life you live Freddy obviously not short of a penny or two eh 😳
Just randomly stumbled upon your channel, my boy 4 loves your bikes! Very good editing i know Ipswich very well lol
Wows!! You have some catching up to do... PLUS
Tuesday at Dobbs!!
Heavy cruisers are not my thing but that Indian looks so much nicer than the Harley equivalent...
That's right, fuck it, just ride, and see if you make it! Funny thing too, you can see that you really like it, you feel it has flaws, but just don't want to see them!
"the dump" Freddie? Don't you mean the "household RECYCLING centre"? lol
Really, the Jeep is just another Italian snow job Bro! I used to have real jeeps in the 70's lol Tough.
just subscribed , not sure if I like you or not yet. or I could be just jealous . like the Indian . like the jeep.
Shiny Indian and then dusty Bonnie still wins at ease even without a fuel gauge. Bonnie's Forever ;-)
Try Majorca Freddie there's a few Vintage bike rentals ,you,ll love it.
Blockhouse Indian is who you are thinking about they rebadged royal Enfield and velocette for the American market,.also the man who helped Indian onto racing history was an Irishman called Franklin.
The range estimate is based on your riding style. Maybe you need to reset the MPG to get a more accurate reading?
Nice looking bike but... American build quality. Not surprised the fuel gauge was out.
I'd recommend Germany for a motorbike tour.
Freddie, don't watch Scotty Kilmer's appraisal of 'modern' day Jeeps, enjoy! lol
I guess I should not complain, both of my bikes start flashing low fuel with a gallon in the tank.😂
Idk why you took a white TV stand to the recycling center. You should’ve used it for something else, donated it to a thrift store, sold it to someone or gave it to someone. I think you bought a replacement one that matches your coffee table that’s mid century modern in style.
Tenerife is always a good idea lol
Freddie, I can’t believe you let the fuel get so low in the Indian, range remaining display is a guess at best and shouldn’t be relied on when it gets that low. I wouldn’t go below 50 miles range personally.
