    Excellent video! How comfortable were the seats, compared to those in an average airliner?

    • @doc7austin
      @doc7austin  7 лет назад +3

      +dave4shmups you mean the bed? the sleeper cabins are usually configured in the flat sleeping position; a passenger is not supposed to change the bed to seat; moreover, these seats are prettz uncomfortable

    • @dave4shmups
      @dave4shmups 7 лет назад +1

      I just mean the regular passenger seats-the ones that you filmed that were in rows.

    • @doc7austin
      @doc7austin  7 лет назад +1

      +dave4shmups there are pretty good for 2nd class; I would always recommend the second class compartment seating cars, which Czech Railways purchased from ÖBB

      @barvdw 7 лет назад +1

      Yes, seats are more than ok, but if you travel over night, I would still suggest to buy a sleeper, or at least a couchette reservation if you can spare some money, you will be much more relaxed. Seating is for day travel imo.

    Thank you to visit our country! How much your ticket cost?

    • @doc7austin
      @doc7austin  7 лет назад +3

      +Maria Jadronova its very cheap to travel through Czech Republic ans Slovakia; the supplement for a single sleeper cabin is just EUR 42

    What makes Humenné so special that it gets an international night train connection? It does not seem to be a popular tourist spot.

    • @doc7austin
      @doc7austin  7 лет назад

      +Marc Liljeqvist Main terminus for most passengers is Kosice and Poprad; between Kosice ans Humenne the train is used by many local pax

    • @NerdX151
      @NerdX151 7 лет назад

      Yeah, I noticed this as well. I always wondered why the sleeping car was not detached in Kosice. But I guess its simply easier and less time consuming to store it in Humenne with the seating cars.

      I think you are not so right guys. There are till December 2017 2 daily night trains EN between Prague and east part of Slovakia. One is Slovakia (Prague to Kosice) and second one is Bohemia (Prague to Humenne). There are more reasons, not only tourist spots like Tatras (exit in Liptovsky Mikulas or Poprad). From area after Kosice, you have a lot of people studying and working in Prague or whole Czech Republic. That's the reason, why train is running with sleeping cars and couchettes to Humenne. 10-15 years ago terminus was even further in Medzilaborce (almost on the border with Poland and Ukraine). There are big calling points after Kosice (big in terms of Slovakia (over 25 000 inhab. like Trebisov, Michalovce and Humenne). So this EN Bohemia is serving also these customers.

    It has to an awful experience from business class jets and great high speed luxury trains to be in this :D I'm from Czech republic and I feel very ashamed with our trains or train transport in general (Slovakia the same maybe even worse). 16 hours for 1021 km is awful lot. At least we have beautiful nature and cities (not train stations) :D

      +Overlord I very much like the Czech railway system; A lot of money was invested in the last years into renovating tracks, stations and rail cars; the situation in Czech Republic is much better than in Germany or Poland; Which other Central European country operates such an extensive night train network than Czech Republic and Slovakia?

    • @markoobid2005
      @markoobid2005 7 лет назад +6

      No, 16 hours for more than 1000 km is not so much. And remember, it's done by night, so it has to be a longer ride for passengers to allow them sleeping :).
      I don't understand how you can be ashamed of Czech trains. I've been there three times in last 3 years with train, and I was always amazed by Czech railways. I tried all three main passenger operators (ČD, RegioJet and Leo Express) and they are simply amazing. The majority of railways are for 160 km/h, which is enough for fast and comfortable travel - you don't need to have super fast trains. And Czech trains are very comfortable, especially those with compartment cars.

    • @barvdw
      @barvdw 7 лет назад +2

      Why be ashamed? The Czech railways are probably some of the best in Europe. Agreed, they're not high speed, but pretty comfortable, many with decent catering (try to find that in Western Europe...), and affordable. If you want a system that's falling apart, try the Romanian railways... I love Romania, even Romanian trains, but I am a little bit of a masochist at times... ČD is almost boringly good.

      CD has Pendolinos which are high-speed trains and have really comfy seats
