One of the best albums in rockmusic ever! I love every single song of it. Saw them live on that tour back in '84 - one of my first concerts - great show!!!
I had to listen to this album 3 times when this came out before I could accept the departure from their usual sound and the new line up. But I came round to the changes and this is my favorite song on the album.
3 sets of 4 then 3, 3 ... that's how I get through the intro... 🎵1 2 3 4, 123 4, 1 2 3 4, 123-123, 1 2 3 4, 123 4, 1 2 3 4, 123-123.......🎵 Love this song...my fave off 90125 as well.
#YES, ONWARD, SF CA...This piece written by Chris Squire gets me every time!..Never been blessed to have the strength you two have....But It's a beautiful simple song.
Whole heartily agree. Early yes with Wakeman’s Keys, Bruford’s drumming and Howe’ guitar in IMHO is the best era of their music. That’s why Fragile & Close To The Edge are my two favorite Yes albums. However, because Trevor Rabin is such a great singer I do agree that the Rabin era had way better harmonics. On a different note. When Howe & Wakeman reunited with Anderson, Squire and White for Keys they produced some really great music together again. And, this is my humble opinion, Yes live at Montreux 2003 is probably the best live yes performance I’ve ever listed to.
First, I'd like to Thank y'all for reacting to this as I'd forgotten just how much I love the Clean sounds of the instruments! Second, I love Yall's honest reactions and how it's kinda straight forward, unedited. Keep on Rocking! Peace Amigos!
The song was 'Changes", the melody was full of change, every aspect was about change, your ears heard change...it is noise at first, I agree, the more you listen you can appreciate the attempt to use melody change to further the 'changes' that are a part of life. You two are wonderful and we appreciate you both so much.
This was literally the first album I got when I was learning bass, and the diversity of sound and complexity on 90125 was very educational. On the one hand you have "Owner Of A Lonely Heart", which has a simple bassline, and then you get to "Our Song", which features Chris Squire galloping all over the fretboard. The tone he gets on "Hold On" is the glue that holds it all together, and then there's "Changes", which is just a great all-round song. Highly recommended for ambitious bassists.
One of my FAVORITE bands besides RUSH! The time signatures are insane! Switching between 7/4 and 10/4.........great bands make the transition seamless!
This album is phenomenal.....I originally bought this when it first came out, I was 20 years old..... do yourselves a favor and listen from beginning to end...... you won't be remotely disappointed! On a footnote.... I'm so sorry about your son Kel...... if there's anything I would say to you it would be this..... You NEVER really lose someone you love, you leave a part of yourself behind, and take a part of that person with you......
'Hearts' is my favorite form this album. this was the first tour I saw Yes in 1983 at the Meadowlands in NJ (I was 13). My second concert (first was Rush on the 'Exit Stage Left' tour). I re-listened to this album a few months ago for the first time in years front to back, and I forgot what a complete album this really was. The drums sounded like drums!!! I'll bet Kel would love 'Hearts'. Have a good one! :)
virtuoso musicians throughout the entire band, this song is just one more sublime example of what it takes to be in the rock and roll hall of fame, great choice.
I agree, it's the best song on the album. The song is about either looking at a break up as a negative thing or as a positive thing because one could progress from it and have the freedom to find better things in life and learn from it and grow as a person. My wife divorced me after 23 years and in the beginning I took it hard but over time used the time to discover myself more and learned to appreciate freedom. I still love her but it made me a wiser and stronger person.
This song is soooooo wonderful... the timing... the time changes... the lyrics... the mood.... great choice. Awe you 2 are making me cry... 2 so in love.... Just came home from a funeral and found your video... I'm so sorry about your son I hope you all are ok! Your love made me subscribe be good to each other! Peace...
One of the greatest songs on one of the greatest albums ever!!! Trevor Rabin really brought such a unique sound to the band. Hes such a great guitarist. Even though there was no Steve Howe in the band here, this was a great version of Yes!
Yes is one of the two loudest bands I've ever seen in concert. The other one is Cheap Trick--they gave me tinnitus at 17. I always thought that was surprising given how much they use classical music in the repetoire.
The first time I saw Yes was on the Close to the Edge tour in 1973, and most recently Anderson, Rabin, and Wakeman's new band (AWR) at the Austin City Limits Theater here in Austin in October 2016. Also love Hold On from this album, but the live video of Hold On by AWR Live at the Apollo is PHENOMENAL!!!!!!
Wow the memories. I had this cassette while working an elevator route covering all of northern California 55 mile speed limit, in the early 80s. Lisended to this 100+ . Thanks so much guys. Your reactions have really touched this old rocker.
I'd love to do first reaction videos with my girlfriend but she has listened to everything I love. Years of sitting outside, on the patio, cocktails and deep discussion about music appreciation. But hey, you do you.
I tend to overlook this period of the band, post-"Drama" but when I hear tracks from "90125" and "Big Generator" I do like them so thanks for this reminder. The band did go through a lot of changes in this period which was followed by 2 Yes bands which then joined for the "Union" album. Then they pared down to this "90125" configuration again for "Talk" followed by more group changes.
Hi! Discovered your channel today and love that you are clearly having a great time sharing the music. Kel's reaction here reminded me of my own back in the 70's when I heard Yes -Close to the Edge for the first time. I had been raised on Classical music and my first reaction was one of horror, but thankfully, I kept listening, and Yes became the quintessential prog rock group of my late teens, and I have continued to love their music ever since. The kind of audio shock they deliver here is common to much of their work - good that you've touched on the Yes album, but you really need exposure to Close the Edge (the full album) and Going for the One (Awaken is one of the most stunning compositions of our time, and Turn of the Century is sublime). When you're good and ready, head for Relayer. Sound Chaser is in a shock league of its own! Carry on enjoying. All the best from England.
Thx! You both are so smart! Okay, the exotic timing in the intro repeats over and over leading the listener to anticipate the change. A change does come when the scratch on the string powerfully interrupts the pattern, but this is a guise to lure us into expecting another wild interruption! Instead, Yes transitions so seamlessly (as they so masterfully do) Into the rock beat. Then they outro with the exotic beat, which has changed! So I see the words and the musical interpretation woven together artistically and clever! Lyrically I come away with the message that change is inevitable, when it comes don’t panic, look at it and say “changes!” -Terry from Canoga Park
(#Marillion)(The Invisible Man)(Indiana)(I bought the Marbles album on a whim because I thought the cover was cool. This was the 1st song on the album. I had no idea who these guys were at the time. Little did I know that they would become one of my favorite progressive bands from across the pond.)
This song is awesome. She really has a tough time with changes. I love the beginning and the end. They blend perfectly. It's called "changes" for a reason. They put a change in the song. I listened to all the Yes songs as they came out. I always loved them, but this song put them over the top with me IMHO. This song is awesome. Probable it was a life change and not a musical change.
90125 has to be one of the best albums of the 80's. It still sounds fresh today. I'll stick my neck out here, and say this album is in my top 5 Yes albums. Trevor Horn is also a genius of a producer.
Kel, this is one of my favorite YES songs. Trevor Rabin is a frickin maestro on guitar on this song. I have always loved his style and have been a fan of his since his days in the group Rabbit back in South Africa.
Even though it is different than their earlier works this is one of my favorite tunes and albums from YES. The build up, the emotional uplifting, the whole. Song just envelopes me .
One of the outdoor concerts, I saw Yes ... AND Dreamtheater opened for them ... Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh !!! Well, I never saw Yes do CINEMA from this lp, and DT opened WITH Cinema ! WOW ... guys ??? It was 🤯🤯🤯
The beginning is off time so when it goes into a straight forward groove its like something going from chaos then into perfect form, the song takes off, it's beautiful, it takes time to like that part, have Her focus on what the keyboards are doing, total genius.
Hey guys! Rich, I relate to Mom playing music from my younger years. She was a "hippie" ;-) and played Zeppelin, Clapton, Edgar Winter, e.t.c. I became a Yes fan in my early teens years and loved Progressive Rock. I actually attended the 90125 concert three times! One of the greatest shows ever! Kel, I struggled with this song the most way back when as well. I get it, lol! It will grow on you. Btw, love the new place! Matt
Asia, Yes, Saga, Rush, and Big Country were my early favorites as a kid. Asia's "Alpha" was the very first cassette tape I ever bought. I really like this song. Yes as a group was for the most part bassist Chris Squire and any of his musician friends that had not angered him. He fired folks right and left at a whim.
A lot of times when a person doesn't get something the first reaction is dislike. The intro was just that, an intro or prelude or overture that slowly builds into the main part of the song and within that intro it's building on a particular feeling along with intricate musicianship that show cases both the obvious and subtle parts. Then it builds into the song itself and then cycles back around to that as a dramatic finale. When I was 17 I wasn't too fond of it myself but over time I learned to appreciate what I thought it was trying to do. And bands and songs like this also prove that not all heavy music is just noise but can be very technical musical wise that could make a classical musician blush especially considering that these rock bands are small compared to classical bands or orchestras.
Great song . I love YES ..took my girlfriend at the time to a Yes Concert instead of the Prom ...she was pissed ....I HAD A BLAST ...LOL....OH BY THE WAY .STILL WAITING FOR MY BIRTHDAY SONG ..LMAO ...#STYX .. Castle Walls
The tour was sponsored by Sparkomatic care stereo systems. Trevor Rabin is an excellent pianist also. Check out how many movies scores he's written the best known probably being Remember The Titans and also Armageddon. Saw this tour live.
Yes were always about the juxtaposition of various musical ideas. If you read up on the "Fragile" album, you'll understand that idea. And if you listen to the whole album, you can start to hear it. This song is just one of those...but in that 80's new wave style, with two singers
My favorite of the Rabin years. A friend had bought the album in 83 and we would listen to it. The first time YES was on my radar. Very much an 80's sound. Electronic industrial percussion based music was common. The theme that how we handle changes we progress forward or fall back. Kel probably wouldn't like 80's King Crimson. Tony Levin on his Chapman Stick was one of the innovators of this kind of sound and probably inspired the intro to this to some degree. Glad you are open to further exploration though, Kel. Howe left to form Asia. Squire and White tried a failed project with Jimmy Page after Bonham died, calling themselves XYZ (ex Yes and Zepplin) which a couple of songs on 90125 and from Page's group The Firm are remnants of this team up. After it fell apart because Robert Plant rejected joining, they found Rabin and brought back their original YES keyboardist Tony Kaye. Squire invited Anderson to listen and he wanted in. Rabin had to rework his songs since they were keyed to his voice, but something new was created. They naturally started calling themselves YES again giving them a new chance at life with a new generation of fans. I think I said before I am a prog music history geek. :)
I love this song and this album so much! #Yes. Endless Dream. Utah, USA. This song is the epic song off of the underrated album Talk, which was another Trevor Rabin influenced album. So good!
Phenomenal musicians
One of the best albums in rockmusic ever! I love every single song of it.
Saw them live on that tour back in '84 - one of my first concerts - great show!!!
The best sound I ever heard during a concert,40 plus years of concert going, only u2 came close, rolling stones steel wheels, was very good also
Aranes68 I saw it too...too bad I was too much under the influence to really enjoy it to the proper level 😔😔😆😆
probably my favorite yes track of all time. utterly phenomenal.
Definitely one of my top 5 from Yes...🎶🎸
Badass song
#YES. Should listen to "Love Will Find A Way" or "Shoot High Aim Low" by YES
You have to follow the request directions in the description box.
Yes agree great songs. I like holy lamb as well
#Yes. It can happen. My fave off this album. Nor Cal
Agreed. It Can Happen. Here’s a link to a great version :

David David 😹😹
3 sets of 4 then 3, 3 ... that's how I get through the intro...
🎵1 2 3 4, 123 4, 1 2 3 4, 123-123, 1 2 3 4, 123 4, 1 2 3 4, 123-123.......🎵
Love this song...my fave off 90125 as well.
Yeah... really odd timing in that intro.
So sorry for your loss. It seems like you two have discovered a beautiful and healthy way to cope and celebrate his life!
#YES, ONWARD, SF CA...This piece written by Chris Squire gets me every time!..Never been blessed to have the strength you two have....But It's a beautiful simple song.
Hold On. Great harmonies. I like early Yes for the music and this era for the singing/harmonies
NO one harmonized with Jon like Chris. His loss STILL hurts.
Jardin Sonido "Leave it" was another one that was off the chain also
Whole heartily agree. And, this is my humble opinion, Yes live at Montreux 2003 is probably the best live yes performance I’ve ever listed to.
1983 was mid life for Yes. Saw ARW in 2019. Glad they are still around.
First, I'd like to Thank y'all for reacting to this as I'd forgotten just how much I love the Clean sounds of the instruments!
Second, I love Yall's honest reactions and how it's kinda straight forward, unedited.
Keep on Rocking! Peace Amigos!
I've never seen such intense concentration to music, but that's what trained musicians do....priceless!!!!
The song was 'Changes", the melody was full of change, every aspect was about change, your ears heard change...it is noise at first, I agree, the more you listen you can appreciate the attempt to use melody change to further the 'changes' that are a part of life. You two are wonderful and we appreciate you both so much.
#Yes, And You And I, Heart Of The Sunrise and Starship Trooper are awesome songs!
I also love Wondrous Stories.
One of their best songs ever, so much talent shown in one song, amazingly brillant
Endless Dream!
The absolute best of Yes West
So beautiful song

The tone he gets on "Hold On" is the glue that holds it all together, and then there's "Changes", which is just a great all-round song. Highly recommended for ambitious bassists.
Brian T "Leave it" is another one that has a relatively simple Bass line
Chris Squire was unbelievable, i can't imagine trying to learn to play the bass from this. If you can pull it off, you have a talent worth pursuing...
One of my FAVORITE bands besides RUSH! The time signatures are insane! Switching between 7/4 and 10/4.........great bands make the transition seamless!
The beginning and end is something that grows on you, as you immerse in it, you appreciate the musicianship of he caos.
Thanks for the intro to the band members and your pretty cool analysis. YES is an amazing band.
The complexity of synchronization in this songs beginning and ending is epic and unmatched
Fantastic song..so much talent
'Hearts' is my favorite form this album. this was the first tour I saw Yes in 1983 at the Meadowlands in NJ (I was 13). My second concert (first was Rush on the 'Exit Stage Left' tour). Love you guys. You are the kind of friends I can hang with with great tunes
virtuoso musicians throughout the entire band, this song is just one more sublime example of what it takes to be in the rock and roll hall of fame, great choice.
Masterpiece. Greetings from Sweden. I saw them at Sweden rock 2018. HiFi sound and brilliant performance from the whole band.
Rich, you know that 90125 Album is awesome! Thanks for bringing back memories of my late teens to early twenties.
I requested this song a couple of times for you so glad you played it for kel, it's my favorite song on the album also.
And sorry about the loss of your son. Music and that special person does help. Peace.
My all time favourite Yes song is Turn of the Century from the album Going For The One. It is absolutely beautiful.
Awesome song. My favorite on this album
I love them!!! From Argentina!!!
Yes is one of the two loudest bands I've ever seen in concert. The other one is Cheap Trick--they gave me tinnitus at 17. I always thought that was surprising given how much they use classical music in the repetoire.
Kel, I love your honesty about not liking this, and I especially love your open mindedness towards learning to appreciate it.
thank you so much guys wonderfully done.
The first time I saw Yes was on the Close to the Edge tour in 1973, and most recently Anderson, Rabin, and Wakeman's new band (AWR) at the Austin City Limits Theater here in Austin in October 2016. They NAILED it !!! It was when MP was behind the kit ... actually during the TRAIN OF THOUGHT tour ... 💙✌👌😁🙋♂️
Wow the memories. I had this cassette while working an elevator route covering all of northern California 55 mile speed limit, in the early 80s. Lisended to this 100+ . Thanks so much guys. Your reactions have really touched this old rocker.
The way Kel looks at you Rich. She loves the hell out of you. Lucky boy!
Leave It is my personal favorite.Owner of A Lonely Heart is on that album
Still love watching you guys. God bless you with peace and Comfort from The Comforter in the loss of your son!!!
The Bass Drum drifting into a HeartBeat...brilliant
I'd love to do first reaction videos with my girlfriend but she has listened to everything I love. Years of sitting outside, on the patio, cocktails and deep discussion about music appreciation. But hey, you do you.

Kel, go another two or three times. The time signature grows on you and is logical. Don't make me break up with you.
lol at the last line
I know that you don't mean that.
Love Yes and love you guys! Wonderful stuff!
This song rocks! Best to you guys!

When I went through my divorce way back when. I listened to this over and over it helped me out of my funk. Thanks for the tune!
omg haven't heard that song in a very long time, back when MTV was good, as we know it started in 81'
One of the most creative bands!
Nice choice - good song with great playing and vocal work
This song is awesome. She really has a tough time with changes. I love the beginning and the end. They blend perfectly. It's called "changes" for a reason. They put a change in the song. I know it’s been a long time but I’m so sorry for your loss
Love this album. Check out Yes inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with special guest Geddy Lee.
Ahh you beat me to it, Jack. That was brilliant with Geddy Lee...
I love Rick Wakeman's speech...music prodigy AND a comedian, lol!
I FEEL this song. I see that you FEEL it too Rich. Peace guys. CHANGES!!
Even commercial radio oriented Yes can be totally bad ass. This tune is proof.
Amazing album. Jon Anderson - what a voice!!
Indeed. However he was backup on this one. Trevor sang lead.
The lead guitar on this song by Trevor is Air Telecaster in my house all day long. Just a great groove.
Peace and Love ❤️ 😍 💖 ❣️ .
Yes has always had phenomenal drummers with unusual time signatures of Bill Buford and Alan White.
Yes! My Favorite... Gates of Delirium!
I literally wore out a stylus on my turntable playing this album over and over back in high school. Great choice for Kel’s first lesson.
Another great track from one of the best albums ever...
Also, consider yourself blessed brother. I never had anyone look at me like she looks at you. God bless you both...
I am a massive fan of Yes. There is no other band like them.
The love of Kel and Rich is enviable. I love to watch them.
The beginning is off time so when it goes into a straight forward groove its like something going from chaos then into perfect form, the song takes off, it's beautiful, it takes time to like that part, have Her focus on what the keyboards are doing, total genius.
I always felt that Yes was the top rock band for harmonizing in 70's and 80's. Then in 90's Alice in Chains.
YES worked really hard on their stagecraft, perfecting those harmonies. So good.
I'm so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine what I would be going through and how strong you are.
YES "90125" was my 2nd YES tour in 1984...MTV ruled the world at the time, and those videos at that time were such a catalyst! ✌💝😎🇬🇧🇺🇸
Matt
There are many bands and songs that I didn't get on 1st listen. Especially if it was a band doing something different than past.
the transition from the beginning marimbas to the pop-guitar is stellar, epic beyond the regular creativity of nowadays musicians
Great to see live.
#yes awaken. SoCal. 15 minutes of spiritual bliss that leaves you a changed person.
