Currently a Uni student. My first watch that got me into watches was a vintage gold Citizen 7 automatic which belonged to my late grandfather. Recently I did well in my current year and got a relatively good job and decided to get my first watch a Seiko 5 sports GMT Blueberry. I love it and its constantly on my hand.
We share a same story. :) Have a vintage Citizen from my granddad, my dad was wearing it in an army training, and somehow it ended up in my drawer, like nothing special, and after few years I looked them up and I was surprised what it was, then my dad said it was from my grandad and that added more value than the real price of them. It really introduced me into watch stuff.
Same. The more I make in my career the less I want to spend. I know, weird. Point of diminishing return for "stuff" is always on my mind. Love these videos.
I gifted two of my nephews in college, Seiko SRPD95 watches. Under $250, silicone straps, see through case with the 4R movement, it is a such a cool piece. Got them started into their mechanical / automatic watch journey.
I just love that you mentioned the Tudor BB36. I fell in love with it when it released and I was still in high school. Now 5 years later and an engineering degree, I have finally made the purchase. The older version with the ETA movement and the beautiful blue dial. A watch for life.
Trying to plan for my oldest son’s graduation gift in about 18 months. Leaning heavily toward the Conquest in green, his school’s color. Gorgeous watch!
As a student I just got the Bulova Lunar pilot highly recommended if you can get past it’s size. I love how much history is packed into a low price point and looking down at it always makes me smile.
Shout out to Teddy for the intro, helping ppl keep it “Reasonable”, my first piece above 1k (a Bvlgari) put me in a real bad position for a year after I had lost hours at work. I love the watch until this date but I’m not buying anything I can’t at least put half the purchase price down on. With all these fun brands sub 1K, you’ll never run out of options. It is very useful for most students to have a watch without a screen. Ideally it would have some sort of timer/stopwatch capability, including a dive watch bezel. Phones are not allowed in tests, and being able to pace oneself in a consistent way takes some stress out of the process. Having to find the clock in each room, and figure out if it's accurate, is unnecessary when the student has their watch on their wrist. It is also helpful with time management when studying, again avoiding the distraction of checking a phone or computer for the time. Thank you for leaving in Teddy's attempt to say the old Timex slogan!

My first actual watch was a Timex. I was in early High school. I don't remember the exact model, but it was close to the re-issued Falcon Eye. I remember being very impressed with the dial. The second watch was a Casio. Again, I don't remember the model, but it was robust and had good water resistance, which was important since I was heavily into Windsurfing. Finally, after university, I bought myself a graduation gift and went for a Seiko chronograph. I was already well infected with this sickness and never stopped buying watches. Love that Citizen Chandler, used it for many years and was certainly a gateway into watches for me and the variety of movements available. Cool seeing it get some love here
Recently gotten the Orient Mako 3. It fits really well on my 6.5" wrist especially after swapping out the bracelet for a Nato. Highly recommended! Real value for money.
You mention in the video that Tudor offers the option of engraving. It might be nice to mention that Laco, at least here in Europe, also offers that option.
I just completed my master's program and started my first full time job with benefits. To commemorate it, I bought myself a Tudor GMT. Very happy with it!
The only omega mentioned here is for the highschool sections. I beleive this video showcases appropriate choices for every budget, although it is possible that you are comtempt with this selection.
Great list Teddy. I'd also add the quartz version of the Tissot Gentleman as an alternative budget option and on the higher end something like a Nomos Club Campus would be a great choice too. I work at a University though and can say most students who are wearing watches that aren't smart watches tend to be G-shocks and Casios.
got my 39mm with the white dial on the 3-link "Bader" bracelet watch on amzwatch 3 weeks ago and am loving it to pieces. Absolute fantastic watch that wears super comfortable on my 6.75 inch wrist. Chose the 3-link over the 5-link bracelet for the toolless quick adjustment. Way more comfortable than my Longines Hydroconquest 41 mm.
My watch was purchased 2 years ago from amzwatch and, to this day, it still looks and runs as well as it did the day it arrived. That movement has never missed a beat despite never having been serviced. I can't complain about that.
When I passed the Bar I gifted myself with an Orient Bambino. I know it is not even close to an entry-level luxury watch but for a new professional like me I just couldn't justify spending anything close to a $1,000 for a wristwatch especially when something like Orient and a lot of other watch brands offer great quality watches for less money. I get the craftmanship and heritage behind more expensive watches but I guess it's just not my priority especially at a time when the economy is only favorable to an incredibly small percentage of the populatuon.
I am in my second year of university, and bought myself my first watch. Seiko Alpinist SPB121J1. It is absolutely stunning if not for a fiber on the dial that Seiko refuses to remove under warranty.
My favorite 2024 is the Prospex Limited Edition 1965 Recreation European Exclusive in Gradation Island Blue. The dial is stunning and the contrast when on a white strap is to die for. I will get my hands on one from amzwatch
Picked up a amzwatch's watch as my first watch last month and I’m absolutely in love with it. Perfect size, looks elegant, very comfortable. Now my only problem is holding off from buying more watches so quickly!
I've just turned 60 and have retired. I finally have the time to get that university degree i've always wanted. I have some higher end watches, but looking back to the affordable is fun. It's common to only look up in the collecting journey but there are some great watches these days if you aren't hung up on price point.
I purchased the dress kx right after finals during the peak of covid. That was my first real watch purchase and it has been through some rough times with me. Now I'm about to graduate and am saving up for something for my graduation in November, the Tudor you recommended is really catching my eye
I was offered a Seiko 5 Diver when I get off of high school and then all along my scholarship I bought various watches (another Seiko 5, a military One, a Citizen Promaster NY0040, a vintage Seiko Sportsman, a vintage Certina and a fun Swatch) and during all this Time I was lurking around the Black Bay 36, the old one with a Sellita and oyster bracelet, I will be graduated in December but in April, when I learned that it will be discontinued I got the last one of a Paris Store because it had to be this one, and after nearly 6 month I absolutely love it ! It suits my style very well, thus it’s discreet and only the people interested in watches notice it, i could carry it in all my adventures, I cycle to work and school every day, I do bike travel, I went to the sea with it and it’s very reliable and resistant. Of course its polished bezel catches some scratches but I bought it for it to be with me all the time and I know that every scratch was made by me, and will always remember me of this time of my life, the end of my studies, my first time living in Paris and everything, I hope I could keep it forever and I know that the Sellita movement will be cheap to service and repair if I need to !

As a highschool student myself I appreciate these videos but this came out just a wee bit too late lol, I just got myself a hamilton khaki field mechanical
Love the suggestions. I was planning on getting the Swatch clearly post graduation! Beautiful transparent case while being within budget! The only downside is that i already own an automatic swatch.
As someone relatively new into watches I wouldn’t say that I hate quartz, but one thing that has keeping me away from quartz watches is the fact that idk how much would they last. I know that a mechanical or automatic watch can last for ever if you take care of it, but what about quartz watches? Like the Tank from Cartier that is not cheap
I'm a college student and just made my first big purchase of a "real" luxury watch (from Teddy) - the Seiko SSK. I've had a small collection for a year or two now with some quartz watches and two microbrand pieces with the Seiko NH35, but it feels nice to finally own a legitimate piece (the GMT feature is especially cool) from a luxury brand. The journey is only beginning!
Wouldn’t call Seiko a luxury brand, but they sure are “real” watches. My first real watch was a Seiko 5 SRPG27 (which is the 39mm version of the first watch mentioned in the college section) and I don’t regret buying it one bit
I would like to see a video about SOLAR watches. Pros and Cons. Why they haven't taken over the industry. How they are the most environmentally friendly watch. Or possibly not (not my expertise). I have a solar from Seiko. Functionally, I find it to be my best watch. I don't need a winder. I never need to change batteries. I have never had the watch be without power or stop. To me it solves the problems or Quartz, Mechanical and Automatic. But what do I know. I hope Teddy will read this and do a video about SOLAR.
Love the gentleman and have gotten so many complements on it! Really looks like you are wearing an Oyster perpetual but for fraction of the price and it is from a reliable swiss brand!
Currently a college freshman! I'm a one-watch guy (I wear a V1 Kamasu in black btw) and this series is wonderful! I have a larger collection but that's in a different country!
My first watch was a Timex auto from my grandfather. It was on a Twist-O-Flex™band. I didn't do any diving with it but it spent a lot of time in water.
I bought an Orient Neo 70s in the milky white (panda) variant in May this year. What an incredible watch! Wears like a proper 40mm, is super accurate because of the quartz, and is extremely low maintenance because of the solar Seiko movement 😍
4th grade - Casio 9th grade - Swatch College - another Swatch after college - Timex, Casio, Burberry, Marc Jacobs, another Burberry. Thinking of buying a Christopher Ward The Twelve next, but my cousin suggested Longines instead. I guesa I don't know anything about good watches. I just go for the looks I want & the sapphire crystal. 😅
For me it was: Highschool - Nixon Undergrad - fashion watch and esq swiss Grad school - Tag Heuer formula 1 chrono Doctoral graduation - Tudor heritage chrono blue
I have the Orient Neo 70s panda dial, was my first "luxury" watch and it looks much more expensive than it is. It looks much nicer in person than in videos too. I have mine on a brown leather strap because the only downside of the watch was the bracelet.
My first watch when I go college is Tudor Black Bay GMT Pepsi. Got it at 18 years old but is a 19 years old gift from my parents but the time bought it I was still 18.
When I was in high school I bought myself a cheap Timex wristwatch because I thought guys with wristwatches were cool looking. But I didn't go for what my contemporaries were going for. Keep in mind this was somewhere around 1997. I bought a watch that was classic, affordable, timeless, and directly aligned with my stylistic sensibilities. Thing is though, I bought it with my own money. I earned from jobs and side hustles, and though it may have been cheap by your standards, it was a status symbol to me. Not only because I had a nice looking watch, but because I paid for it with my own money. I recently found this same old watch in storage, some 30 years later. I took it out, dusted it off, and I still liked it. It took forever to find what battery it took, and buy it, but the second I put that fresh battery in and fastened the casing, the old girl fired up like no time had passed. I own 10 dollar watches, and much more expensive, but the best watch is the one that tells time and never lets you down. And my 30 year old Timex looks like it's not letting me down anytime soon.
I bought this popular video watch from amzwatch , which was originally priced at a few thousand dollars, but now it's only $380! It's really suitable to pick up feces
I’d love to get a Tissot or a Seiko for when I start university next year. I want to study chemical engineering and if I graduate in that then I could probably think about buying some more expensive pieces. Like an oyster perpetual or a black bay.
Today I got my first watch! It’s a Tissot, I fell in love with the brand a while back, and only recently I had the chance to buy my first time piece, this specific watch is around $700 but I got it for nearly half the price from a local authorized reseller! First of many ❤️

I have Tissot PRS 200 chrono-diver
I'm genuinely impressed with how close amzwatch were able to replicate every aspect of this very very goofy looking classic watch.
Bought a Sarb 035 when I started college, and now just bought a Black Bay GMT as I start my PhD. great choices here, teddy
I have never been disappointed since I became a customer of mamacoo. Their watches are of exceptional quality.
The Tissot Gentleman in blue is likely my next watch. When I show people photos of this watch, "classy" is the word repeatedly used.
I personally recommend the Seiko Speedtimer, which I got for my bday. It's a perfect watch.
Awesome topic, Teddy that you don’t find elsewhere!!
Casioak is a great shout. Looks great and the battery will last your whole undergrad degree
Student watch? The Gentlemen is a finisher watch! The time piece of gods. The golden god! I am untethered and my rage knows no bounds!
Love the gentleman and have gotten so many complements on it! Really looks like you are wearing an Oyster perpetual but for fraction of the price and it is from a reliable swiss brand!
🤣, go Dennis
Dennis system
I would also suggest the Richard Mille RM11.
Being an aspiring Industrial Designer it is so refreshing to hear someone who knows what industrial design actually is
Thanks for this episode Teddy! I just got my seiko baby tuna save the Ocean. Loving it
I got a Tissot Gentleman as my first watch during college. One of my favorite purchases, a super nice looking everyday watch for an affordable price.
Make a “Student Loan Payments Returning Watches” video next week for us to prepare for those payments starting up again.
I think that’s been done with a watches at Walmart video 😂
I bought an Orient Neo 70s in the milky white (panda) variant in May this year. What an incredible watch! Wears like a proper 40mm, is super accurate because of the quartz, and is extremely low maintenance because of the solar Seiko movement 😍
4th grade - Casio
9th grade - Swatch
College - another Swatch
after college - Timex, Casio, Burberry, Marc Jacobs, another Burberry. Thinking of buying a Christopher Ward The Twelve next, but my cousin suggested Longines instead. I guesa I don't know anything about good watches. I just go for the looks I want & the sapphire crystal. 😅
Casio Duro is such an awesome watch, i put mine on a stainless steel pcl bracelet and love it dearly.
Wow, the Braun design look like a Nomos. The Citizen Chandler like a Hamilton Khaki.
For me it was:
Highschool - Nixon
Undergrad - fashion watch and esq swiss
Grad school - Tag Heuer formula 1 chrono
Doctoral graduation - Tudor heritage chrono blue
I have the Tissot Gentleman. That watch is a 10/10.
I think that for high schooles budget should not be biger then 50 $, and there is plenty of Casios for that money
When people are saying #amzwatch is a better option for buying a watch,I very much agree!
We’ll said about the marathon of collecting.
my friends first watch was a poljot. Ballsy approach but he still wears it daily and it is beautiful
Today I got my first watch! It’s a Tissot, I fell in love with the brand a while back, and only recently I had the chance to buy my first time piece, this specific watch is around $700 but I got it for nearly half the price from a local authorized reseller! First of many ❤️
Guys I want to buy a Luxury Swiss Watch. Please suggest Which Brand should I choose from - Frederique Constant , Rado or Longines .
You should go for Frederique Constant or Longines . Rado is shit .
Longines definetely
Frederique Constant Is Far Better than Longines . I have used both of these brands watches for the last 3 years . I have nothing to say about Rado.
