I missed your reviews. I'm again in the market and like your reviews. This CX-90 is an interesting step up from your regular CR-V/RAV-4/Rogue grub. Way more fun than, say, a Caravan.
Welcome back haha. Thing is, I don't like this CX-90 PHEV. The standard Inline-6 is better in my opinion. I've got a few more sports car reviews coming after this weekends usual SUV review haha
@@MGReviewsBlog Many people really like the idea of driving electric, at least for a bit, until the gas engine has to come on. PHEV is a huge selling point. But I hear you about that intense electric motor sound, and the other issues.
Great review and hit most of the pro's and cons. However, would of been nice to compare the TOP model PHEV to the Top model inline-6. Don't see this as a fair comparison since this is mid tier PHEV.
Yes, I'm sure the GT PHEV version has nicer materials on the inside. But this mid range trim gave me the chance to see that not all variants of the CX-90 have that premium feel like the top spec. Either way, I don't get to choose the trim levels. I just drive whatever the manufacturers decide to put in their media press fleets.
I reviewed the 2022 Highlander hybrid: ruclips.net/video/DIswob0FEiI/видео.htmlsi=4mKU8Lg_rhMk3mN7 I'll also have the new Grand Highlander booked for the end of November so expect to see the video in early December.
I don't understand how at the end of the review you forget to mention that this vehicle provided you 4.1L/100km. That is incredible for a vehicle of this size that can carry 7 passengers. This fact far outweighs the gripes that you mentioned. Instead you recommend a version that gets 9.4L/100km. Do you understand the fuel savings over 3-4 years? I think you have forgotten why people buy a PHEV and how expensive gas is today.
Yes, the fuel economy is impressive but if that's all you care about from a 3-row PHEV, then the Kia Sorento is a better option in my mind. My point at the end of the video was that, Mazda is touting this new car as a premium vehicle. But I never got that impression with this PHEV. With the Signature trim of the inline-6, I did. Plus the CX-90 GT costs more than the CX-90 Signature and it doesn't have all of the gadgets that the Signature has such as ventilated 2nd row seats and a larger infotainment screen among others. (of course these features & packages differ between the Canadian market, where I am, and the USA market) So the money you save in fuel, you pay up front to get the car in the first place.
@garyvlogs77 6.99% for the Kia & 6.90% for the Mazda over 84 months. Yet the Kia is cheaper overall which means lower monthly payments. It also has a far smoother hybrid system than this and just as efficient with 3 rows. Didn't you say that's what you wanted in your original post???
@garyvlogs77 just looked up the cargo capacity of both to remind myself, yea the Mazda has a tiiiiinnnyyyyy bit more. Very minimal difference. Anyway, here's a crazy idea. Go to your local Kia dealer and test drive the Sorento PHEV. Then go to your local Mazda dealer and try the CX-90 PHEV. Then make up your own decisions based on your specific needs. What an idea...... I clearly like the cx90 with the inline-6 and the Sorento phev is the better phev until Mazda can refine their cx90 phev. End of story.

@@Antiorganizer Oh yea, I love PHEVs as well. I just can't recommend this one.
@@MGReviewsBlog There need to be more PHEVs. It's slim pickings right now.

Have you reviewed a 2023 Hybrid Highlander yet?

Trying to go 3-across in that narrow back row at lower trim levels nixed it for me. I need usable seats, not a high passenger number on paper.
Yea, 3 adults will be tight. 3 kids, maybe not so much but I'm sure they'll be fighting for space.
The lack of a rear bumper is no good for me in NYC. I can see the trunk getting abused.
Looks good!

So with the Mazda you get the same features, more cargo space, and a lower monthly lease rate than the Kia. Why would I buy the Kia?
