You missed the hug between Floor and Simone.
Epica with Floor Jansen and cat pets, best combination ever. I love your channel and the insight you give from all your experience being a radio DJ. Thanks for sharing.
I am going to be very specific on The Poet and the Pendulum. The reason people are recommending that you do research is that it is VERY, VERY, personal to Tuomas. So personal that he has said in the past that he would tell the sound guy NOT to send the vocals to his in ears when they perform it live. If you don't know the background it simply is not possible to fully appreciate the lyrical content. Great reaction here, by the way.
I concur on what you have said. I would also suggest with what Eric has shared about losing his wife ... well Poet is one that will rip at almost anyone's emotions. So, I've suggested he get a feel for what brought Tuomas to write Poet and to be prepared for a deeply emotional and EPIC song
Epica composed this because they write orchestra in their music.. and uses orchestra in their music.. That is why this whole 3 hour masterpiece is so good! In all my almost 52 years I have never heard a metal band that has that perfect balance
you can tell watching that Floor is taking her cues from Simone. she fully gets this is Epica's night, and she's just there to contribute, not try and take over. by all means, jump straight into the deep end, Mr Man. i recall another reactor introduced NW to their significant other by showing them "The Greatest Show On Earth", live at Tampere. like taking a virgin to a Roman orgy. imagine for a moment, Tuomas has written a 24 minute epic about the creation of the Universe, and the Evolution of Life on Earth. what sort of tapestry do you think that will paint for you? or "The Poet and The Pendulum", live at Wembley Arena. a 14 minute, 5 part story of the emotional turmoil and furious backlash Tuomas faced when they fired the legendary Tarja in 2005? we often suggest you prepare for that by way of "Nemo", "Ever Dream", and "Storytime" from Wacken. let your taste buds process each unique flavor of Tuomas's cooking before he overwhelms you with his most epic creations. if you believe you can handle the big guns, step up to the target and pull the trigger baby. Let's Go!
another great example of the metal band with the Orchestra is from this same Retrospective concert Epica Design Your Universe you feel the whole power of the band and also the crescendo of the Orchestra is amazing. the beginning buildup is also breathless.
I strongly (and perhaps belatedly :)) concur! "Design Your Universe" is kind of a "statement" song from EPICA circa 2009-2010. And it hits hard, especially in the arrangement done for this anniversary show. The finale of the song with the return of the refrain and the endearing rendition from Simone is just plain moving...
Remember that Nightwish is Finish not Dutch. There are great Dutch metal bands and singers, but metal is a minor genre in Holland while it is the biggest genre in Finland.
Great reaction to a another great band Eric! The whole Retrospect concert is amazing. Keep it up. As far as suggestions for music reactions, well I was happy when you did the Ayreon reaction. That song featured 11 singers, so 11 more bands to react to, and Gabriel's list is so immense. All this together can keep you busy for the next few years :-) Well one suggestion then, Kamelot live in 013 Tilburg featuring Alissa and Elize. Cheers from Holland.
Great reaction..Dimmu Borgir does alot with orchestras and choirs ..Gateways is a great song to check out ..The members in the orchestra are even wearing metal makeup ..Awesome to see
Another great reaction. I so love the depth of your analysis. I am normally one of those guys to say wait on doing Poet and Pendulum or Greatest Show on Earth but you definitely have the experience and knowledge to jump right in and do it justice. Just do some background on Poet so that you get the full emotional impact of that masterpiece. I would recommend doing Dead Boy's Poem from Buenos Aries and maybe Song of Myself from Wacken next though. For your next Epica Kingdom of Heaven Pt 3 from Omega Alive or back to this concert and Design Your Universe and Chasing the Dragon.
if you want to see the keyboard player move again i would check this one out it will blow your mind! EPICA - KINGDOM OF HEAVEN PT 3 - (ΩMEGA ALIVE) (OFFICIAL VIDEO)
I concur. Coen (the keyboard player), didn't get his mobile equipment until later in the history of the band. These days he even is known to go crowd surfing with is portable keyboard.
What I like most of this video is that everyone on stage is having a blast, the band members, the conductor and the majority of musicians of the orchestra, the singers of the choirs. They are enjoying themselves. Bear in mind that the orchestra and the choir performs mostly classical music and maybe from time to time some musical themes or scores, they still are in a way, but here combined with metal. I think it is a welcome interlude in their experience as a musician. EDIT: I wrote above comment mid reaction, I didn't know then that you were going to talk about the commitment of the orchestra and the conductor.
First , ...your Megadeth comment .....Megadeth symphony of destruction There is a Nightwish Cover of that 🙃: Nightwish - Symphony of Destruction (Live in Bucharest, 19.11.2004) ruclips.net/video/4a4E8EfaVXY/видео.html SO..... Epica... First: Simone Simons + Floor Jansen = POWER COMBO Epica is Epic (well deserved name for the band). Simone and Floor are good friends (they are both Dutch) and both classically trained . Simone Johanna Maria Simons, she is the lead singer and songwriter of Epica which she joined at the age of seventeen. In her singing career, she has also collaborated with bands such as Kamelot, Leaves'Eyes, Primal Fear, Ayreon, and Angra. She has also has a side pursuit as a lifestyle blogger, via her website SmoonStyle. Simone started playing flute for two years after joining music school at the age of 12. At 14 she had one year of pop singing lessons, and at 15, she switched to classical singing after listening to Nightwish's Oceanborn Album, which remains her favorite Nightwish album. Simone and her husband, Kamelot keyboard player Oliver Palotai have a son, Vincent Palotai. The reside in Stuttgart Germany. Mark Jansen is a Dutch guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter. A prominent figure in the symphonic metal subgenre, he is known for his work with the bands After Forever (1995-2002), Epica (2002-present), and MaYaN (2010-present), no relation to Floor Jansen, he is ex-After forever member (Floor's first band) Coen Janssen is the keyboardist and one of the founding members of Dutch Symphonic Metal band Epica. As a young boy his attention was drawn to the piano and at the age of 8 he started taking piano lessons at the local music school. When he finished high school, Coen studied classical piano for two years at the Conservatory of Tilburg (NL) before switching to the popular music Conservatory of Rotterdam (NL) from which he obtained his Bachelor degree in music. As the keyboardist of Epica, Coen recorded five studio albums and several live recordings. He played more than 700 live-shows in over 40 countries all over the world, played every major international (metal)festival or venue and toured extensively in Europe, North America and South America. In 2013, after celebrating Epica's tenth anniversary, touring will take him to new territories; Asia and Australia. Coen is known for his energetic live performance and stage presence. Isaac Delahaye is a Belgian guitarist and composer, best known as the lead guitarist of Dutch symphonic metal band Epica since 2009. Rob van der Loo Is the Bassist of Epica ! And On drums is Ariën van Weesenbeek !!! WHEN Epica hit hard, they are heavier than Nightwish. But they also have some really beautiful, soft and tender ballads. And they often ”cover themselves” in completely different styles (jazz, Irish folk, klezmer…). Epica fan's are Epicans . Nuff Said !!!! 🤘😎🤘
Keep doing your thing ... we will keep coming back! The suggestions to wait, well Poet is just deep, dark, POWERFUL ... back story helps and so does being emotionally in a good space. Thanks for your detailed reviews they are so much better than. "Hey! Yo! That's Incredible!"
I initially liked this reaction, but I am now reconsidering. "There are two guys...", "standing on platforms...". I have rewatched this video multiple times until this point, and I never saw Mark Jansen, the rythm guitarplayer to the viewers left (and most emphatically not the drummer, which makes you sound underprepared), stand on the platform. He put one foot on it once, as far as I can see, which does not make him taller. I also want to add that the lighting is quite frenetic but mostly centered on the middle of the stage where the singers and the drummer are, plus a small portion of the orchestra. Of course Floor and Simone seem to have more stage presence. They are the stars of this video, plus the drummer and some members of the orchestra. From this video, I wouldn't to be able to pick Mark, Isaac, Coen and Rob out of a lineup. Hard to have a stage presence on a video when you are barely recognizable... And there is also the problem that the map is not the terrain, the subjective viewpoint of the camera chosen for this little sequence is not the same as the subjective views of most of the audience, and you have absolutely no idea of how the audience in front of the bassplayer was reacting to him. Maybe they were going crazy about him, so he got up on the platform briefly to show off. But if you as video editors do not recognize this, you are going to get this wrong. You need to set it up with shots of the audience in front of him going crazy beforehand. Most interested to see when you can put Mark on a platform with both legs. He is a university trained psychologist who can command attention when he wants. But most of the time he is an introverted musical genius who does not need or want spotlights. Cut from the same cloth as Tuomas from Nightwish.
I absolutely love when a vocalist is featured with another group and the results are so amazing! Another one is The Haunting live from Norway by Kamalot that features Simone.
Great reaction. Everything you said was exactly how I felt after watching this for the first time. Its sensory overload but in a spectacularly amazing way.
Thanks for this one Eric! Great analysis to this epic masterpiece🤘 Funny you mensioned Megadeth's 'Symphony of Destruction', Nightwish actually covered (tributed) that song a long time ago with Marko on vocals. You can find it on YT recorded both studioversion and live performed (in Romania, (go figure)), I concur to that one😉 Thanks again for your reaction, keep it up 🤘🤘🤘 .
It’s interesting you wonder if there was space for another person, how about 3 female ‘metal’ singers? You e already investigated Ayreon so why not give Valley of the Queens a try. Maybe not long enough for an analysis but worth a listen.
Everything I would have said about this song and band has already been covered in other comments. So, I'll just recommend another Dutch symphonic band called Within Temptation. The lead singer in Sharon Den Adel. Ice Queen is a good one to start with, and one of my favorites. Also, I really enjoy reactions from the perspective of someone who has been in the radio and music business for years. Thank You. and Cheers
The Orchestra also has his own pieces in this show. The show was 3 hours long. The start of the show is also beautyfull starting with only Orchestra and choir and epica coming in later
Very clear and concise analysis once again - thoroughly enjoying it. I'll keep this short but I thoroughly recommend another Simone/Floor duet from the same gig. It's called 'Stabat Mater Dolorosa' by Pergolesi who knew he was dying when he wrote it sadly. A bit of a departure from the norm but I just know you appreciate diversity in music ( as long as it has worth to it) - I wish you all the best 👍 😀
Lol, you’re beginning to understand why we Nightwish fans call Floor the Valkyrie goddess or the beast, her stage persona is rarely challenged and unequaled, as you have seen she grabs hold of your soul and goes fifty shades of Bruce Lee on it leaving you begging for more. Plus it helps she’s 6’1” lol. But that’s just Floor, off stage she’s very sweet and humble, and always very polite, AND very intelligent
Floor and Simone goes way back and visited each others band more than once. They are old friends from their younger days - they are both completely awesome stage performers as you pointed out. And together on stage, they shines and fits perfectly together enjoying themselves so intense that it always affects the audience. I have experienced them together a couple of times - they are so genuine and completely crazy good in their duets. Back in the days, there were one more of those phenomenal female singers that toured with them - we get back to that later on.. Great reaction - your insight is always a learning lesson 👍
Another great one... I'm being schooled here! I had to look up 'dichotomy'...😳 Great song as in beautiful marriage of superb voices... Teach me more Sir!
These two beautiful singing goddesses have been long-time friends; even flat mates for awhile. Check out them singing Stabat Mater Dolorosa from this same tour to hear pure operatic, gorgeous singing with more of that dichotomy as well, from both of them. This was an anniversary special show with full orchestra. I wish Nightwish would do it for their next big anniversary. It's pretty cool.
Hi Eric, Not only metal goes perfectly with an orchestra, and adds so much more, but also with progressive rock you also get real pearls of music. I think you might know Anathema? They are from Liverpool and started out as a doom-metal band (I'm not a fan of that period), but evolved into progressive rock . They really live for the music. Unfortunately they are currently (due to Covid) on an indefinite hiatus. I really hope they come back! Based on your comments I would definitely recommend the live performance of "A Simple Mistake". The song starts quite calmly, supported by the strings in the orchestra, and then halfway through it grows into a great cresendo of strings, drums and electric guitars. Truly a song that rises above all that is average. Although I am a big Nightwish fan, this band certainly has a special place in my heart. Link: ruclips.net/video/IIzU5-ZvYlw/видео.html
I get you are just going to play what you want when you want OK however before you do nightwish the poet and the pendulum you need to investigate what the songs about or you will be going a lot "what did they say" just saying, one of the best songs I ever heard old rock and roller here unique God bless
Not sure what you are trying to say here, but this performance is from March 2013. Wacken is August 2013. One thing that is most definitely true is that Floor was very quick to order new costumes after she was asked to be a temporary replacement in Nightwish late 2012.
The Wyldeside talked about 2007.... ?? Drummer Mark Jansen?? I can understand that Clemens Tremens tries to help out for the one(s) who gets a little confused... And Eric Clark is learning to.. so thank you.
Simone was also 3 months pregnant here. Nightwish is a Finnish band but Troy is English and Floor is Dutch but lives in Sweden. Epica is a Dutch band. You got to react to Epica "Rivers" Feat. Apocalyptica (LIVE AT THE AFAS LIVE)
From what I understand, Simone had to tone down the wind milling as she was pregnant at the time. BTW - you missed a bit of banter between the ladies at the very end. Good reaction as always!
I agree. Metal with an orchestra is awesome. One of my favorite bands Leprous has a cellist on most songs (and performs live with them). Also adds other orchestra elements often.
@@Kelly.sapphire I missed the last concert they gave here in Portugal, because of the pandemic. If I'm not mistaken, this was the last concert they played before the tour was cancelled. I regretted it. Now I await the return of the band for a new concert. This time I won't miss it.
Excellent, as always. Just to clarify, this song was originally recorded in 2007, but this performance was from 2013. @@NZWozza Well, I'm never going to claim I came up with it, but "I concur" is sort of a running joke with a lot of military people, since you have to write it and initial it so many times on paperwork. Nice Reaction. Thanks. Im into Metal since i first listened to Maiden, around 1986. Raised with Classical Music im also fan of Bach, Beethoven, Mozart... So, if u can find Time, React to Epica - Presto Retrospect. Here they playing some known old Vivaldi stuff, letting the Orchestra and especially the Violinists shine. Its fantastic. If you dont want react to, enjoy for yourself.
Eric, do you realize that the orchestra and choir needed so much space on stage that there wasn't enough room left to drive around with the keyboards. By the way, Simone was pregnant during this anniversary concert and couldn't do her normal windmill/headbang. If you want to add another great voice to Floor Jansen, check out Anneke van Giersbergen. Check-out Ayreon - 'Valley of the Queens' featuring Floor Jansen, Anneke van Giersbergen and Marcela Bovio trio. A second fine example of great Dutch symphonic metal bands is 'Within Temptation' with Sharon den Adel as lead singer. They also gave a great anniversary concert with a professional orchestra and singing group. Sharon sang a duet with Anneke van Giersbergen on the song 'Somewhere'.
the zenith and the retrospect shows are 2 very different shows, the zenith show was a "normal" show on their european tour in 2017 iirc, the retrospect show was a special anniversary show recorded in 2012, 10 years after the band was formed
I first got into metal after watching Symphony and Metallica with conductor Michael Kamen. It blew my mind away and immediately I started delving into music - not just metal, but pop, R&B and rap as well - wondering what the heck I'd been missing out on. Later in life, managed to get down to Melbourne - pre-covid - to watch The Tea Party play with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. The level of depth and texture that a physical orchestra provides is immense. So much so that my friend and I couldn't listen to any Tea Party music for a day or two after, because the original recordings somehow felt tinny and hollow! It truly is a wall of sound. Incidentally, have you listened to much Alan Parsons Project beyond the obvious - Sirius (Go the Chicago Bulls!) and Eye in the Sky. With the exception of one album called Vulture Culture, all their albums, feature an orchestra. Their song 'Silence and I' - in particular Alan Parsons' live performance in Columbia - is probably their best example of combining prog rock with classical music. It's a little slower in melody than all the metal we've been listening to, but it's well worth the listen.
Sorry SORRY... I was 'like' #667 Just had to say I really appreciate hearing your reaction to this great piece of art. You've been on the stage enough to convey how it feels to be out there on a fantastic night. Keep on !!
i've been listening to a lot of classical music lately. i'm an Uber driver, and i keep the classical station on for music for my passengers. the repetition of modern radio wears on me. i can only hear the same song about butts so many times a day. i can't distinguish one composer from another. one thing that sticks out is the absence of percussion instruments. mostly it's a string or horn section that's supplying the percussive rhythm some will add in some at a climactic moment. but for the most part, no drums of any kind whatsoever. not sure what point i'm making with this, just a thought that has occurred to me over the last several weeks. it came to minds as you were talking about the combination of a metal band and a live orchestra. Tuomas has been asked before about having a live orchestra on stage with Nightwish. he says it's not practical. for their latest album, Human :ll: Nature, they used a string quartet and a choir for the first have of the album with the band. he saved all the orchestral parts for the second half. all orchestral pieces.
Hy Eric , i realy wanted to "I concur" but no one suggested this "Dimmu Borgir - Mourning Palace live at Wacken" , for me one of the best metal-orchestra-choir blend
for about five seconds I thought Floor was your guest for this video until my brain clicked back into place, but the short endorphin burst was nice anyway lol. anyway, glad you're enjoying the close knit symphonic metal sphere and sharing your takes! hug the cat for us :)

Alissa and Elize, then we have of course also talk about this :
ruclips.net/video/vhExkmWKMEU/видео.html 😂
Written by Simone Simons, it describes how a suicide bomber winds up in hell instead of heaven ,and likes it there...
Thanks for that info!!
Cheers!
Eric
To be precise, lyrics by Simone. Music by Simone, Mark Jansen and Ad Sluijter.
Nightwish is a Finnish band
Great reaction..Dimmu Borgir does alot with orchestras and choirs ..Gateways is a great song to check out ..The members in the orchestra are even wearing metal makeup ..Awesome to see
I concur.
Me 2. / B.
A righteous suggestion!

I concur to The Poet and the Pendulum and Greatest Show on Earth.
if you want to see the keyboard player move again i would check this one out it will blow your mind! EPICA - KINGDOM OF HEAVEN PT 3 - (ΩMEGA ALIVE) (OFFICIAL VIDEO)
I concur
I concur. Coen (the keyboard player), didn't get his mobile equipment until later in the history of the band. These days he even is known to go crowd surfing with is portable keyboard.
Me tooooo
I concur
I concur 3 times 🙂
Fantastic 👍🏆 I do not have more words for this….
EDIT: I wrote above comment mid reaction, I didn't know then that you were going to talk about the commitment of the orchestra and the conductor.
these two vocal queens on stage at the same time..nothing left to say....more nightwish please...ROCK ON!
First , ...your Megadeth comment .....Megadeth symphony of destruction
There is a Nightwish Cover of that 🙃: Nightwish - Symphony of Destruction (Live in Bucharest, 19.11.2004) ruclips.net/video/4a4E8EfaVXY/видео.html
SO..... Epica...
First: Simone Simons + Floor Jansen = POWER COMBO
Epica is Epic (well deserved name for the band).
A prominent figure in the symphonic metal subgenre, he is known for his work with the bands After Forever (1995-2002), Epica (2002-present), and MaYaN (2010-present), no relation to Floor Jansen, he is ex-After forever member (Floor's first band)
Coen Janssen is the keyboardist and one of the founding members of Dutch Symphonic Metal band Epica.
🤘😎🤘
It is time you enjoy Troy on I WANT MY TEARS BACK. NIGHTWISH BUENOS AIRES 2019! Lets see Floor dancing!
I concur!
BELIEVE NEXT YEAR WILL BE 20 years of EPICA
You should check the Epica's Omega Alive (Kingdom Of heaven part 3, Unchain Utopia, Skeleton Key & Victims Of Contigency) just mindblowing 😉🤯
I concur 😉
Think Skeleton Key first but I do concur on the list
I concur, definitely.

Great reaction, as always. Both ladies silenced the crowd with the song Stabat Mater Delorosa. Something for our handy dandy notebook. Tanks again.
Great reaction. Everything you said was exactly how I felt after watching this for the first time. Its sensory overload but in a spectacularly amazing way.
Thanks for this one Eric! Great analysis to this epic masterpiece🤘
Funny you mensioned Megadeth's 'Symphony of Destruction', Nightwish actually covered (tributed) that song a long time ago with Marko on vocals. You can find it on YT recorded both studioversion and live performed (in Romania, (go figure)), I concur to that one😉
Thanks again for your reaction, keep it up 🤘🤘🤘
.
i Concur !
Nightwish' s Montreal version is better than Bucharest. Just my 2 cents.
@@michael.albinus Never saw that one, will check it out!
This song is fantastic shows what years of being friend's and playing music together for years can do its amazing performance.
It’s interesting you wonder if there was space for another person, how about 3 female ‘metal’ singers?
You e already investigated Ayreon so why not give Valley of the Queens a try. Maybe not long enough for an analysis but worth a listen.
Yep that would be my suggestion aswell.
I concur!
Nightwish is Finnish band. Floor is from Netherland and Troy, I think, is Brittish.
Another incredibly outstanding analysis and review, Eric. Much thanks!
Epica's drummer is a beast.
Thank You. and Cheers
I concur specifically Raise you Banner from the Resist album.
Talk about Floors stage presence being so big it also helps she’s standing about 6’6” on stage. lol
One of best duet ever !! ♥♥♥
Part 2 of our Angel and our Valkyrie Queen singing together 💕💕💕💕
Imagine singing in that choir
“Their tones are PURRRRFECT! “ I like your Segway, I concur! Rock On Stay Safe 🙏🐈👍🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Little slip you had, "These dutch bands" Epica is but Nightwish is Finnish, has Dutch lead singer and Scottish multi instrumentalist.
It's confirmed.
The storms raging across the world. . It is Floor, the Valkyrie Goddess of Metal and Empathy is responsible ..😇😇😇😁😁😁😁😁lol
I love your insights regarding music as a whole, as art...another great analysis/comments.
floor with simone are longtime friends
I concur :-)
These two beautiful singing goddesses have been long-time friends; even flat mates for awhile.
Check out them singing Stabat Mater Dolorosa from this same tour to hear pure operatic, gorgeous singing with more of that dichotomy as well, from both of them.
This was an anniversary special show with full orchestra. I wish Nightwish would do it for their next big anniversary. It's pretty cool.
Hi Eric,
Not only metal goes perfectly with an orchestra, and adds so much more, but also with progressive rock you also get real pearls of music.

Another song from this concert you might like is Stabat Mater Dolorosa also featuring Floor.
I just love your authentic reaction. Thank you....absolutely 'A symphony for destruction '. The keyboarder still has his hair here🤗
I get you are just going to play what you want when you want OK however before you do nightwish the poet and the pendulum you need to investigate what the songs about or you will be going a lot "what did they say" just saying, one of the best songs I ever heard old rock and roller here unique God bless
If you are in doubt about the date of this performance: Floor is wearing her Wacken 2013 outfit, so we have a postquem 🤓👸
Deep Purple was the first metal band with an symphony orchestra I believe. I love this. Alas I only saw Floor :D
All the hair! It makes me very happy
I concur unanimously with all of the other concurers
I agree. Metal with an orchestra is awesome. One of my favorite bands Leprous has a cellist on most songs (and performs live with them). Also adds other orchestra elements often.
Leprous: one of my favorite bands 😊
@@olindasilva315 getting to see them live again March 1
@@Kelly.sapphire I missed the last concert they gave here in Portugal, because of the pandemic. If I'm not mistaken, this was the last concert they played before the tour was cancelled. I regretted it. Now I await the return of the band for a new concert. This time I won't miss it.
Thanks a lot
And this song is just a simple straighforward tune in Epica' catalog! This band has mastered the symphonic metal like no other band.
EPICA IS BEAUTIFUL METAL VERY AMAZING BAND
Great reaction! Really enjoy your thoughtful commentary after the music man great job 👍 👏 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Man, you have to check this one -
Epica - Kingdom of Heaven part 3 - Omega Alive
Excellent, as always. Just to clarify, this song was originally recorded in 2007, but this performance was from 2013. I feel for you with the cat…since I’ve been working from home for the past couple of years, I generally have a cat in my lap anytime I’m on a conference call. Also, you’ll appreciate this…I replied to a comment on another person’s channel with “I concur” without even realizing it until I’d done it. You’ve started something, I think! :D
Leonardo DeCaprio may have started that one.
@@NZWozza Well, I'm never going to claim I came up with it, but "I concur" is sort of a running joke with a lot of military people, since you have to write it and initial it so many times on paperwork. And I joined the military in 1986, so it's been in my world since then, but I didn't come up with it as being cheeky. That's just sort of how it was for us serving.
Cheers!
Eric
Normally she's hanging with my youngest since that's where all the food scraps are, but he was in school, so I had to suffice! And writing that on someone else's channel is hilarious!
Cheers!

@@TheWyldesidewithEricClark Today I learnt - I always think of ‘Catch me if you can’.
very gooooood reaction .....I love Epica
It's like the metal gods and goddesses gave us a little preview of Valhala!
An AMAZING DRUMMER
Bonus points for the cat!
I'm watching this with my cats.
Floor and Simone are amazing stage presence just fantastic they are huge on stage Floor is really tall I think helps alot she is an Amazon.
@12:34 Floor takes over the whole damn stage .
Don’t listen to people who tell you to wait to hear something. Silliness.
Sorry SORRY... I was 'like' #667
Just had to say I really appreciate hearing your reaction to this great piece of art.
You've been on the stage enough to convey how it feels to be out there on a fantastic night.
Keep on !!
Hey, your not that far from me, I’m here in Cleveland,Tn. Awesome 😎
"Beauty in chaos" is the best way i heard this song described
i've been listening to a lot of classical music lately. i'm an Uber driver, and i keep the classical station on for music for my passengers. the repetition of modern radio wears on me. i can only hear the same song about butts so many times a day. i can't distinguish one composer from another. one thing that sticks out is the absence of percussion instruments. mostly it's a string or horn section that's supplying the percussive rhythm some will add in some at a climactic moment. but for the most part, no drums of any kind whatsoever. not sure what point i'm making with this, just a thought that has occurred to me over the last several weeks. it came to minds as you were talking about the combination of a metal band and a live orchestra. Tuomas has been asked before about having a live orchestra on stage with Nightwish. he says it's not practical. for their latest album, Human :ll: Nature, they used a string quartet and a choir for the first have of the album with the band. he saved all the orchestral parts for the second half. all orchestral pieces.
Yeah Mark is genius as well when it comes to compositions man he is good really good.
I definitely noticed the choir ladies were beginning to headbang too
Hy Eric , i realy wanted to "I concur" but no one suggested this "Dimmu Borgir - Mourning Palace live at Wacken" , for me one of the best metal-orchestra-choir blend
for about five seconds I thought Floor was your guest for this video until my brain clicked back into place, but the short endorphin burst was nice anyway lol. anyway, glad you're enjoying the close knit symphonic metal sphere and sharing your takes! hug the cat for us :)
Nightwish actually cover SoD
for more of Coens crazy Piano and Keyboard stunts check this song out he actually gets a solo and a Duet with the Guitarist Epica Kingdom of Heaven part 3 ruclips.net/video/BdBCVMD8TiM/видео.html
"Maintaining a grace within the Maelstrom" - I might use that one in the future :-).
It’s a treat these powerwomen 🤷🏼♀️
Always was curious as to how the orchestra musicians feel when playing with metal bands, given they likely we brought up playing classical only.
But good to also see the choir bopping along in that bridge.
Aww. You missed the kiss. Floor and Simone are best friends. 😘🤘
