Eric, I think the "missing audio link" that you noticed, among the audio lines of the choir and orchestra, between Tuomas and Emppu, is Troy Donockley, the band's multi-instrumentalist, with an e-bow and an electric guitar :) This album is a step beyond metal, in my opinion at least. You can feel the metal with certainty, but it is a construction that tends towards the symphonic.
yeah well noticed !!! as a guitar player myself and seeing and hearing this masterpiece live, i can confirm this 100 percent, the guitar Troy uses btw is a custom made PRS 24 Charcoal Burst....
Mr. Shoemaker's remains are on the moon. The song is about his wish to go to the moon when he was alive. A tribute to him. The Shakespeare quote is on the capsule bearing his remains.
Lyrics refer to this in interesting ways. Such as where you can see earthrise (instead of moonrise)? On the moon. Where you can see "whole starmap" (instead of limited by atmosphere)? On the moon. And there's a lot more to discover in the lyrics. It would be interesting to know the thought process that was going on to make this.
And he loved craters, and is now in one - called Shoemaker, after him. (Likewise there's one crater named Shoemaker in Australia, where he died, exploring the craters) en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shoemaker_(lunar_crater)
Johanna Kurkela, Toumas’ wife, speaks the verse from Romeo and Juliet , she has a very beautiful singing voice and collaborates with Tuomas and Troy in their band Auri, well worth a listen.

She finally figured out that she had use her passagio (between head and chest voice) to get the desired result. She makes it sound so easy, you aren't even aware that she's doing it.
seeing Floor doing this live on the virtual world concert was one of "holy f*ck, she actually did it, she's not human" moments. The song is a tribute to Eugene Shoemaker.
When she sang it in Oslo the whole stadium got quiet when she got to that part. When she nailed it everyone screamed and clapped. My god that was an experience. Beautiful!!!
"A metal band should not be able to do this folks. Th- ....th--- .....this shou- ...... this is no longer metal." 10/10, absolutely loved this one. And you knew the quote was Shakespeare! Thank you! I humbly recommend you hit up Tribal off of this same album sometime. If you do, you may want to invest in a good neck brace beforehand...
I've heard this song a hundred times and every single time she goes operatic at the end it gives me goosebumps( Floorgasm) all the way down head to feet, she is the absolute best singer in any style in music today in my opinion, you don't see other singer's male or female who can growl, sing metal, opera, pop, even Disney covers she does on her channel sound better when she does it. It doesn't matter who the songs were originally written for when she does them, she finds a way to make them her own and to have that much talent and stay so humble and a wonderful person (as do they all) is something you rarely see these days
After reviewing a particular new song from Tuomas, Floor asked him "when do I breath". He simply said "you'll figure it out". I imagine that was Shoemaker......
You're correct, it is a tribute to Eugene Shoemaker, but it's so much more. He once tried out for the astronaut program and got turned down due to having Addison's disease, he said it was one of the greatest disappointments of his life. So, after he died NASA took an urn of his ashes to the moon, crashed it into the Shoemaker crater "named after him" at the southern hemisphere of the moon, with his ashes as a burial on the moon. The song references him howling at the earth, from the vantage point of the moon. Graveyard of Heavens. The song references the "Earth Rise"... from his vantage point from the moon's southern hemisphere the Earth would be rising on the moon's horizon, so he would see an Earth Rise. Also, the quote from Romeo & Juliet in the song, Eugene Shoemaker's wife had that quote engraved on the urn that his ashes traveled to the moon in... He is to this day, the only human to be buried on a celestial body in space other than the earth.
Seen from the Moon, Earth barely moves in the sky. It would be slowly rising and falling, right on the horizon, at Shoemaker's resting place - hence the "eternal" Earthrise. Tuomas doesn't miss a trick.
Eric, the first Nightwish album I ever listened to was Human : Nature. I was walking the streets every night looking up at the stars. It was a truly spiritual feeling and it helped me through a very tough time. My dad was fighting for his life in hospital across the other side of the world. Nightwish was only escape from that pain I was experiencing. I couldn´t travel and see him because I would be put in a quarantine hotel for 2 weeks due to Covid... The operatic part at the end of this song is one of musics finest moments. This majestic beauty surrounded me and took care of me through those tough months. Quite frankly, Nightwish has completely changed my life and I know their music will never leave my heart. It has become a part of who I am. I really appreciate your reactions. All the best to you!
Can we take a minute to shout out Kai's amazing double kick work on this track? Anyone who knows anything about drums or rhythm (I'm a drummer myself), knows just how hard what he's playing is and how lightning fast he executes those patterns all through the verses of this track.
Watched the full lunar eclipse this morning. Towards the tail end, with just a sliver of white left on the southeast side of the moon, I cranked this song. A half hour later it was a full blood red moon and it was glorious!
Love this song man. It is about the scientist Eugene Shoemaker and his contributions to the space sciences. It is an ode to him and the effect of his life on generating curiosity and inspiring humanity to reach out to the starts. His urn was taken to the moon, and that is where he is resting now. That's the connection with the moon, and the sense of "lying on a field" looking into space.
Also, the Shakespeare quote is the inscription on the urn I believe or a plaque... it's inscribed, and on the moon with the remains of Mr. Shoemaker is the point I'm trying to make. Great reaction. Thank you.
That's what I take from the end of the video when the camera pulls back over the surface of the moon...that's his 'view' being 'tucked in for eternal earth rise'..i.e that's what that line means and this is what he 'sees' from there.
As the Moon is tidally locked with Earth, "Eternal Earthrise" for Eugenes ashes at the South Pole in Shoemaker crater, the Sun goes by once a month (roughly).
Great reaction. You are prescient with the Shakespeare pentameter comment and the tone sounds like a siren to me during the asteroid section. Flour blew me away, especially at the end.
Eric, I think this perfectly sums up Nightwish: Classical is nothing more than metal without electricity. It is an axiom I find that fits Nightwish, and symphonic metal in general, the best.
Some filmmaker somewhere HAS to approach Tuomas to use that in a movie. It's Epic! Floor found she had to work the different cadences & found the full opera part a bit tricky on her own to sound right, so asked to have the choir added along with her. Such a great song. Seeing her sing it live in the virtual concert was really awesome.
That operatic ending brought me to tears the first time I heard it. Floor did a lot of takes of it because she wanted it to be perfect. And now she does this live; amazing.
Eugene Shoemaker's cremated remains are interred on the moon...the Shakespeare quote is inscribed on the plaque there. When I watched their virtual live shows back in May it hit me how they've grown (to should I say "evolved?") into something beyond metal, or even symphonic metal. I think they have become a genre unto themselves.
Eric, if I'm not mistaken you didn't already react to the first track of "Human : //: Nature", did you?🤔 The song's name is "Music" and Floor sings it as if Music personified would sing about herself and her relation with humankind from the beginning of Times. (Was the last phrase understandable? I hope so...😅) I think it would be better start with "cut one" before continuing with "cut four" ("Harvest", the less metal song in the album, a killer one nonetheless 🗡💀✝️), but I'll be there with you whichever path you choose. Great reaction on "Shoemaker", even if I "hated" you teasing us multiple times before Johanna's speech, LOL!😜 Greetings! 👋🇮🇹🖖 Ps: how about gathering all the NW reactions in a Playlist on your channel? It would be easier for us to know what songs you already reacted to and what not. Please think about it, I don't think I'm the only one who wants to watch again some of your reactions without searching the entire channel. Ty !🙏
So...Tuomas clearly understands how to write "lyrics" and "scores" to invoke an emotional response...Imagine if he chose Marketing instead of Music for his passion...We'd be buying "stuff" and having no idea why it was important to us... The Man is a Living Legend...to those who have been lucky enough to be exposed to his brilliance... Great Reaction! 👊
Always chills at the Ad Astra by Floor, especially when the choir comes in as well. I’m pretty sure you will love the Nature album also, it is a gorgeous piece of music which will sooth your brain. It also has a beautiful video behind it, it’s called: All the works of nature which adorn the world.
For me, my favorite part is when Geraldine Butler reads the work "Pale Blue Dot" by Dr. Carl Sagan. It always makes me feel as if this world, for all we heap upon it, is truly something special.
There are couple (and possibly more) hidden "gems" in this song. There is a lyric line mentioning "dream like dulcimer". Into to the Shoemaker is played on hammered Dulcimer. The musical version of "howling at the Moon" performed by Troy's guitar is first mentioned in the lyrics of the first track "Music".
Pavel P. In "Music" there is a line, "singing the song of another man" - Shoemaker is this albums "song of another man". You are right, there are many such "Easter eggs" (gems) throughout this album, and the music composition and lyrics are genius on another level. Cheers!
shoemaker was a giant, embodying the desire to go out there to the stars and the moon; Blocked from being an astronaut due to a medical condition he became an amazing geologist and planetary scientist, preparing other people to be astronauts; after he died in a car crash, NASA took part of his ashes, inscribed the urn with that frase from Romeo and juliet, that he loved so much an made him the first and until now the only human being whose remains rest on another celestial body; Tuomas captures him perfectly in this song, together with that desire, that aspect of the human condition, that longing to go beyond the borders and explore. Amazing song and one of my alltime favorites. Thanks for the reaction man, and see you next time.
Omg you're so baked!!!🤣🤣🤣 I'm dead! If you liked this I can't wait til you get to the instrumental music after the last song. Enjoy that one by yourself after some 🪴. It's magical
first off, Nightwish is a Rock band despite the tendency to seperate genres. best in 40 years seems to me. prove me wrong with your best in that time period. thanks for the videp from Colorado
Man, I can’t wait to hear this live. I’ve had tickets for the LA shows for two years. Unless they cancel soon those shows are going to happen. Not sure how I’m going to hold together after these miserable two years.
So,... "Shoemaker" has become a favorite song of NASA's scientific community. Tuomas has a deep inclination towards science and this is reflected in many of his plays. This ensured the entry of Nightwish into the history books of science, several discoveries in the field being named after them. These new discoveries include: Alpenglow Rockshelter: Archaeological site named after Nightwish Song. Tanidromites Nightwishorun: New Crab species. Sciophila Holopaineni: New species of Mosquito found in Finland. Ophiomitrella Floorae: New species of Cretaceous brittle star named after Floor Jansen. Tmesisternus floorjansenae: new species of beetle named after Floor. Song from Human. :II: Nature and it is a Masterful Album !!!! Little curve ball for you ,.... album dedicated to Don Rosa, and his Disney comics stories about Scrooge McDuck from Tuomas Holopainen: TUOMAS HOLOPAINEN - A Lifetime of Adventure (OFFICIAL VIDEO) ruclips.net/video/JWwSVOo5K_k/видео.html Let's see what comes next ..... The photoshoot for "Endless forms most beautiful" was a day in the Natural History Museum, Kensington, London. A great honour to be allowed free reign (for the Queen and her brothers). The virtual concert had tones of the museum too, and it now available on DVD!
One of my top 5 Nightwish songs. The lyrics are referencing the fact that a portion of Shoemakers ashes were taken to the moon as part of the Lunar Prospector mission and placed in the crater named for him. Thus the lyric" Now you have been tucked in for Eternal Earthrise and Wonder". I also feel like this is also a call out to humanity to continue exploring and pushing out into the universe "We came here to stay with your guiding light". The Romeo and Juliet quote is inscribed on the urn that holds Shoemakers ashes on the moon. The ending with gorgeous vocals and the visuals of the Earth and the Sun setting below the limb of the moon are just so epic and emotional for me. Interesting your comment regarding the band being perfectionists. Floor wasn't fully happy with the studio recording of the operatic ending despite Tuomas being happy with it. She went home, worked on till she was happy and then sent it to Tuomas for inclusion in the recording. This one really hits me emotionally since I worked at NASA in the manned space program for a number of years and loved being a part of that push into the unknown. Concur on Music next and then back to Harvest.
Oh my god, the guitar part! I genuinely didn't realise that this whole time! I really assumed that it was some special effect as backing track. Argh, this is why I love reaction videos; they teach me so much about music I love! One thing about this song: In early interviews Tuomas said that this song was very complex and not to be performed live. We were all disappointed to hear that but we were understanding that somethings just weren't to be played live, especially when you're dealing with a concept album like this. I'm struggling to find a source, but it was our understanding at the time. And so, our jaws absolutely dropped when they performed this on the second night of their livestream concert last year, and it was incredible! As far as I know, it's still in the tour setlist and I can't wait to see it live one day. I also really find your comment on tone interesting, because I have always been a fan of Nightwish since I first discovered them in 2005 but it has sorta struck me as weird that I have been a fan for that long given how much their sound has changed. When I discovered them they were power metal, transitioning towards a more "pop" sound, and then later into this more concept album prog-adjacent sound. It makes sense though that what I really am a fan of is their tone because it really shines through in everything they write and perform. And lastly, I think you are right about this being more of a 'curveball'. These fantastic musicians really want to push their skills to see what they can do. Do something new, something different and something inspiring each time they put something out. And you really honestly see that: Tuomas trying new compositions, Floor trying new vocal techniques and I hear Kai got some curveballs as well. No doubt the others as well but I heard/read any interviews with them about this album. Cheers, looking forward to what's coming next.
Hi ERIC first time I heard this by the end I was a wreck lol He doesn't just write music he's a COMPOSER STUNNING BEAUTIFUL WHY IS THIS KIND OF MUSIC NOT IN MAINSTREAM????????
First song I heard of Nightwish was the last song of this Album ‘adorn the world’ 35 minutes long not metal. Cried a lot because it is so beautiful. But now I’m listening almost everything of this band. The best for me are The greatest show on earth and the very emotional The Poet and The Pendulum
When Nightwish's 9th album "Human // Nature" was released, two music journalists wrote in the same way. When Nightwish gained fame, copies began to appear, but none of them succeeded. Because they didn't have Tuomas Holopainen. I think that is true. You can find a lot of good musicians in the world, but can you find another Tuomas Holopainen? Funny coincidence, Tuomas was born on December 25th. So he was a Christmas present for his parents, but he’s a Christmas present for all of us too. Floor told the following about the work of this song. She learned to "recite" the words in a week. But it's not enough. So she spent another 1½ months finding the right emotion for each word. She had already returned home to the Netherlands from Nightwish's summer camp (they always make a new album there), so she called Tuomas several times what this or that meant in different parts of the lyrics. The band really wants to do their best. That 's why they also sound like the best :D That 9th album thus includes 10 songs on two CD discs One music video and 9 lyrics videos ... Each video is like a little story. Each video supports the lyrics of the song. Every song and video is a work of art. Nightwish provides food for the ears, eyes and thoughts.
With Tuomas and Floor, two musical geniuses have met as music history has never experienced before. They create unique works of art that could not be more beautiful. And 'Shoemaker' is one of their biggest!
Yes please on cut 4, entitled Harvest. Also could you do cut 1, entitled Music. That one will really be up your alley. Yet again a great reaction Eric, you're in my head too, I find that you echo nearly all my thoughts and emotions with Nightwish's music. Keep it up brother! 🤘
This song was so very difficult to sing but Floor really killed it live in their virtual tour performance. That ending just gives me endless goosebumps
You're absolutely ready for the incredibly life-affirming experience that is The Greatest Show On Earth. Inevitably the question follows on which version, Tampere or Wembley? Honestly, do both, in one reaction. Both versions are incredible but are slightly different in their arrangement. Tampere is probably the better overall experience, but Wembley has a hell of a lot going for it too with a nice surprise at the end. It will make for an hour long or more video, but I know I for one would watch every moment of it. Also not forgetting to watch both videos til the very, very end (including watching credits, the song continues through credits) Anyone who doesn't concur can fight me :)
I concur, the track is the "Opus to the Universe" that Tuomas wrote, this was merely an Ode to Eugene Shoemaker and events following his "time in the sun".
nice to have you truly on board with Nightwish. I got triggered at your comment about sitting in a field looking at the endlessness. This will all come back with the last track of this album actually called endlessness. enjoy the ride
I love the line "cut in little stars." It gives me the image of Eugene Showmaker's cremation, thinking his remains are cut into little stars and now resting on the moon. So much of this song is pure brilliance captured in music, but based upon a brilliant man's life and his desire to visit the moon. Wow, just wow! So glad I found the composer of my lifetime while I was still here!
Hey Eric! That tone is created with the e-bow on the guitar. It's an electronic device that mimics the bow from the classic string instruments. Usually Troy is the one who uses it. You will see it very clearly in his hands (it has a blue light) if you do the Wembley version of "The greatest show on earth" with Richard Dawkins himself at the end of it speaking to the crowd.
The spoken Shakespeare quote is engraved into the urn that carries some of Eugene Shoemakers ashes. Johanna’s euphonious voice is the perfect inclusion in this masterpiece composed by Tuomas & brought to life by Nightwish.
That subtle tone youre talkin about i think is Troy playing a guitar with the e-bow It's so funny how you mentioned it when I was focusing on it myself. You can see him use it in the live version of greatest show on earth i believe
Fun fact about this song: the scientific community loves it so much that there have been multiple scientific discoveries named after the band and its members since Human:||:Nature's release! Everything from archaeological digsites to new deepsea critters!
One of the things I love about Nightwish songs and Tuomas' writing is that he makes people think with their lyrics, the meaning of his songs are different for everyone and I find it very cool
@The Wyldside with Eric Clark Oh and the Laudato Si Ad Astra sounds even more awesome live, since they started touring again, the versions from the US concerts are pure *cheff kiss*
The "tone" you're hearing is Troy using his e-bow. He uses it to great effect in many songs, but you might want to check out "Sahara". It's a bit different (but brilliant, obviously)
Great idea to deal with this masterpiece of an album in chronological order. I fully concur. But let's start at the beginning then: first track 'Music'. And again you'll be blown away by Tuomas' genius. Your reaction to Shoemaker was golden, Eric!
Eugene Shoemaker was the first who understood some large craters on earth were extraterrestrial impact craters. He also studied the moon and space. He wanted very much to become an astronaut, but he got ill and died. To honour him some of his ashes were buried on the moon. That's why they sing about him seeing the earth rise each day.
Probably my favorite track on the album. When Floor does that last part live (from videos I've seen), it's absolutely mind blowing. Every bit as epic as you might expect. Arguably better than the end of Ghost Love Score. I think it's going to be a fan favorite for some time.
The spoken piece from Romeo and Juliet is inscribed on Eugene's capsule on the moon. There are never accidents with Tuomas. Every lyric, spoken word or note is there for a reason.
That was fun to watch. Your facial expressions are priceless. Great song, loved it from the first hearing. Ending gives me everytime goosbumps all over the place .
I agree and they change it up sometimes like at Wembley Troy is playing the guitar with his E-bow during The Greatest Show on Earth and at Tampere he's playing the Pipes, that's a whole other dimension Eric has left to discover, Troy on the pipes! not Scottish bagpipes but Irish pipes , wait til he does I want my tears back, I like all the versions but Wacken is my favorite because I never get tired of Emppu's pranks like when he runs behind Floor and unplugs her in-ear monitors and their little looks to each other when he comes back through
Eric, don't forget Music, the opener to the Human Nature album, if you are planning to continue with it, it's amazing song and important piece of the puzzle! :) You definitely should do the entire album cause it's amazing, something different, definitely a step beyond metal, new Tuomas genre :) Glad to have you on this unique musical journey called Nightwish!
When you say eBow, you say Troy. My feeling is that it is making the sound of space. BTW In the beginning you can also hear the (hammered) Dulcimer ( and mentioned in the lyrics), google that! I could imagine that that is also a Troy instrument as it is weird.
Eric, My god what am i a happy person you make my NW fandom and love so mutch greater by youre reactions. You are by far the BEST reactor there is at this moment. Please dont stop stay on this road, i wil do what o can to tell everyone to go listen to this
Yes, my favorite track of this album. It's such a great tribute to Shoemaker. Floor at the end is just.....yeah you know. Another great song and a live acoustic performance from a song of this album: ruclips.net/video/yYtkPpFYzOo/видео.html It's just Floor and Troy and it's soo good.
Firstly Eric you have a great warm voice that so reminds me of the great radio DJ’s of the late 70’s to the 90’s. Casey Kasim Kasem does definitely come to mind and a few South African DJ’s back in the day. One can close one’s eyes and still get a vivid picture in the way you communicate with the audience. It’s something very special indeed. Thank you
Nightwish Army UK popping in for another great reaction. This is based around Eugine had his ashes sent to the moon so he will always be looking back at the earth.
Eugene Shoemaker was the inspiration for this song. He studied comet/astronomy evidence here in earth and Moon's meteor rings via telescope. He wanted to visit in moon but was diagnosed cancer or something like that. But his ashes are resting on moon surface.
I think the underlying varying guitar note underneath the riff is actually Troy using an Ebow, - my take is that is replicates a wolf howling at the moon. This song is a tribute to Eugene Shoemaker who was a planetary biologist and specialised in craters. He dies in a car accident and NASA acted upon his wishes and sent his ashes to the moon where he remains the only human whose remains lie on a celestial body. Tuomas upon reading this was taken with the story and wrote this song for him. The operatic part at the end replicates blast off from earth with his remains and his journey to space “Ad Astra” means “to the stars”
Funny thing about this song: when asked when the album dropped, Thuomas was emphatic in early interviews that this song was "too much" to perform live, and would not be in the set list. Fast forward 1 yr into lock down, and NW does their "Live in A Virtual World" online concert; sure enough, they play this LIVE, and Floor crushes it. There are a bunch of pretty good cell phone captured versions of this song being performed in smaller venues in Finland over the last 2 months, and I highly recommend checking them out when you get a chance: and Yes, Floor IS a Unicorn. (I haven't heard her come close to even wavering on that ending classical part in the half dozen videos I've seen.)
Nice reaction, this album shows Tuomas maturing as a composer. Just curious why you skipped the 1st track "Music", it is essentially the history of music in 7 minutes.
Yeah, I concur with "Music". Although all tracks are equally good, just so different. But I have a hunch that Eric will love that song, because of the way he feels and sees music.
Eric, I think the "missing audio link" that you noticed, among the audio lines of the choir and orchestra, between Tuomas and Emppu, is Troy Donockley, the band's multi-instrumentalist, with an e-bow and an electric guitar :)
This album is a step beyond metal, in my opinion at least. You can feel the metal with certainty, but it is a construction that tends towards the symphonic.
Thank you for the clarification!
Cheers from Nashville!

Thanks Gabriel for clarifying the e-bow thing, I was just about to write a comment.. oh wait..
Troy is on vocals in this song / album too!
yeah well noticed !!! as a guitar player myself and seeing and hearing this masterpiece live, i can confirm this 100 percent, the guitar Troy uses btw is a custom made PRS 24 Charcoal Burst....

Nightwish truly is a life changer
Can we take a minute to shout out Kai's amazing double kick work on this track? Anyone who knows anything about drums or rhythm (I'm a drummer myself), knows just how hard what he's playing is and how lightning fast he executes those patterns all through the verses of this track.
I have said from the start Kai’s drumming in HN is the backbone to the album his sound is what captured me from the very first listen
That's the connection with the moon, and the sense of
"lying on a field" looking into space.
I concur!
I concur!
As the Moon is tidally locked with Earth, "Eternal Earthrise" for Eugenes ashes
at the South Pole in Shoemaker crater, the Sun goes by once a month (roughly).
It may make your palms sweat it’s putting chills through me. Floor vocals like diamond cutting glass
Great reaction. You are prescient with the Shakespeare pentameter comment and the tone sounds like a siren to me during the asteroid section. Flour blew me away, especially at the end.
This song is one of the highest peaks of what Nightwish has ever made. That closure is beyond awesome.
Biggest cudoesbto Troy on this trwck. Damn, on whole album, this man is a great addition to a fantastic band
Eric, I think this perfectly sums up Nightwish:
Classical is nothing more than metal without electricity.
Seeing her sing it live in the virtual concert was really awesome.
minor correction, it's actually Troy's guitar that's howling in the bridge. He's using an e-bow on it, and it sounds so haunting! Love it!
Troy's playing often reminds me of Robert Fripp's soundscape guitars- excellent stuff
That “hidden tone” you we’re talking about was most likely Troy’s e-bow.It sounds the same as the part played in TGSOE with Dawkins.
Nice reaction. I love this phrase: "grandiose in its epic-ness". Great way to describe Nightwish songs!
Amen!❤️
That operatic ending brought me to tears the first time I heard it. Floor did a lot of takes of it because she wanted it to be perfect. And now she does this live; amazing.
Eugene Shoemaker's cremated remains are interred on the moon...the Shakespeare quote is inscribed on the plaque there. When I watched their virtual live shows back in May it hit me how they've grown (to should I say "evolved?") into something beyond metal, or even symphonic metal. I think they have become a genre unto themselves.
The A team produces another complex enigma of thought into music to expand the realm of understanding
Eric, if I'm not mistaken you didn't already react to the first track of "Human : //: Nature", did you?🤔
The song's name is "Music" and Floor sings it as if Music personified would sing about herself and her relation with humankind from the beginning of Times. (Was the last phrase understandable? I hope so...😅)
I think it would be better start with "cut one" before continuing with "cut four" ("Harvest", the less metal song in the album, a killer one nonetheless 🗡💀✝️), but I'll be there with you whichever path you choose.
Great reaction on "Shoemaker", even if I "hated" you teasing us multiple times before Johanna's speech, LOL!😜
Greetings! 👋🇮🇹🖖
Ps: how about gathering all the NW reactions in a Playlist on your channel? It would be easier for us to know what songs you already reacted to and what not.
Please think about it, I don't think I'm the only one who wants to watch again some of your reactions without searching the entire channel. Ty !🙏

I also concur!!! "Music" is a gem. Its lyrics are very poetic and it's a song that definitely grows on you because of all its layers of meaning :)
That hurt :).
And then it hurt again, to wonder how many people of such talents probably did get into marketing. 'The vast majority might never stir'.
This is a beautiful tribute to Eugene Shoemaker.
This could set the Tone of a Movie.
I concur. But for the Tuomas approved fan video.
I concur.
That's a beautiful video for Tuomos masterpiece.
I concur with the approved fan video
For me, my favorite part is when Geraldine Butler reads the work "Pale Blue Dot" by Dr. Carl Sagan.
It always makes me feel as if this world, for all we heap upon it, is truly something special.
I concur with the approved fan video.
Cheers!
Nice insights guys!!!
Dude, The Greatest Show on Earth will fuck with your mind in so many ways. Keep the "baked" reactions coming :)
A good song is bigger than the sum of its contents.
Baked and analyzing things so nice... IMPRESSED!!
Much Love to you and Ukraine 💙💛💙
That was some Shakespearian stuff there, Eric! Thank You very many and greetings from Finland! Kiitos!
shoemaker was a giant, embodying the desire to go out there to the stars and the moon; Blocked from being an astronaut due to a medical condition he became an amazing geologist and planetary scientist, preparing other people to be astronauts; after he died in a car crash, NASA took part of his ashes, inscribed the urn with that frase from Romeo and juliet, that he loved so much an made him the first and until now the only human being whose remains rest on another celestial body; Tuomas captures him perfectly in this song, together with that desire, that aspect of the human condition, that longing to go beyond the borders and explore. Amazing song and one of my alltime favorites. Thanks for the reaction man, and see you next time.
So well said!
Now they are touring again they do this live!!! And Floor amazes everyone all the time with the final part. She’s really out of this world. 🇳🇱🤘🫶
Thank you for getting it. You get Nightwish ❤️
Great content as usual, Eric! I was lucky to experience this one live last November. The way Floor delivered the ending was unreal.
I watched live video taken with crappy mobile.
When Floor entered the "opera stance" and started the last part, I got whole body shivers.
Omg you're so baked!!!🤣🤣🤣 I'm dead!
If you liked this I can't wait til you get to the instrumental music after the last song. Enjoy that one by yourself after some 🪴. It's magical
The tone you refer to has always been 'The Space Whale' in my head.
first off, Nightwish is a Rock band despite the tendency to seperate genres. best in 40 years seems to me. prove me wrong with your best in that time period. thanks for the videp from Colorado
Great reaction once again😁🤘🏻🤘🏻
Greetings from Finland 🇫🇮
I gotta say that you pronounce Tuomas's name really well👍🏻
Man, I can’t wait to hear this live.
Little curve ball for you ,.... album dedicated to Don Rosa, and his Disney comics stories about Scrooge McDuck from Tuomas Holopainen:

I learn from you. Thank you for imparting such knowledge.
Forget the songs they gave grammy awards to...this was the best song that came out that year.
Hi ERIC first time I heard this by the end I was a wreck lol
He doesn't just write music he's a COMPOSER
STUNNING
BEAUTIFUL
WHY IS THIS KIND OF MUSIC NOT IN MAINSTREAM????????
That 's why they also sound like the best :D
That 9th album thus includes 10 songs on two CD discs
One music video and 9 lyrics videos ...
Has to be one of my favourites this. Just brilliantly perfect in every way.
Thank you for your awesome reaction. Greetings from Tampere, Finland. Stay safe!
hope your ok Eric its been 8 days since last reaction.just wondering.ROCK ON
This song was so very difficult to sing but Floor really killed it live in their virtual tour performance. That ending just gives me endless goosebumps
Endless Goosebumps Most Beautiful?
You're absolutely ready for the incredibly life-affirming experience that is The Greatest Show On Earth. Inevitably the question follows on which version, Tampere or Wembley? Honestly, do both, in one reaction. Both versions are incredible but are slightly different in their arrangement. Tampere is probably the better overall experience, but Wembley has a hell of a lot going for it too with a nice surprise at the end. It will make for an hour long or more video, but I know I for one would watch every moment of it. Also not forgetting to watch both videos til the very, very end (including watching credits, the song continues through credits)
Anyone who doesn't concur can fight me :)
I concur!
I concur!!!
I concur, the track is the "Opus to the Universe" that Tuomas wrote, this was merely an Ode to Eugene Shoemaker and events following his "time in the sun".
I concur :)
Tampere is More The Show and Wembley is More The Song atleat IMO
nice to have you truly on board with Nightwish.
That subtle tone youre talkin about i think is Troy playing a guitar with the e-bow
It's so funny how you mentioned it when I was focusing on it myself.
You can see him use it in the live version of greatest show on earth i believe
Fun fact about this song: the scientific community loves it so much that there have been multiple scientific discoveries named after the band and its members since Human:||:Nature's release! Everything from archaeological digsites to new deepsea critters!
Now that you got a good feeling for the Studio Versions of the new NW Album. You gotta see "How's the Heart - Live Acoustic (Planet Rock)"
Hi Simon, i concur 💯❗
I concur. Of course, that's another Nightwish diamond.
That song should have douple reaction. First lyric video, then that live acoustic. They are both amazing!

Floornificent concurrence
One of the things I love about Nightwish songs and Tuomas' writing is that he makes people think with their lyrics, the meaning of his songs are different for everyone and I find it very cool
@The Wyldside with Eric Clark Oh and the Laudato Si Ad Astra sounds even more awesome live, since they started touring again, the versions from the US concerts are pure *cheff kiss*
I keep forgetting to mention... I like the new layout. Thanks
"Opus of the universe", you say? Time for a reaction to "The greatest show on Earth" soon🤔?
This one, live in Oslo 2021, was............. AMAZING!
The "tone" you're hearing is Troy using his e-bow. He uses it to great effect in many songs, but you might want to check out "Sahara". It's a bit different (but brilliant, obviously)
I concur!
I concur
I concur 1000%
"I CONCUR!" Your stories are as awesome as the songs themselves! Blessings, friend!
Track 1 music 🎶 also has a complex time signature and a cool intro to the album video
I concur
I love the studio stuff, but their live shows have such a different energy, its almost a different band.
I slyly concur, hoping to get 9 (10) songs in 1 package. :)) \m/
This song could be a movie in itself...
That drone is indeed a guitar using an eBow. Not sure who played it on the record, but Troy does it live,
When you say eBow, you say Troy.
Another great song and a live acoustic performance from a song of this album:

It's just Floor and Troy and it's soo good.
Hi Eric, please don’t forget nr 1 of the album: ‘Music’🙏🏼
Too many people skip this one but Music is one of the best ones on the album.
@@korkkis72 and don’t forget the videoclip featuring one of the first music instruments
Most excellent. I always have fun listening to you break down what is happening and how it translates from music to emotion. Epic.
Having been a Nightwish fan since 11 years old, I never understood people who say that „the lyrics are not important to me, I just like the melody“. 😅
Eugene Shoemaker was the inspiration for this song. He studied comet/astronomy evidence here in earth and Moon's meteor rings via telescope. He wanted to visit in moon but was diagnosed cancer or something like that. But his ashes are resting on moon surface.
Live performance of this song can be seen Teatria Club, Oulu, 2021.
Another phenomenal performance by them.
DVD out this week!
Great reaction! I think you are ready for "The Greatest Show On Earth" live at Tampere a song about evolution and make sure you watch the entire video
