Street racers should have assets seized.
That was found to be unconstitutional, they did it in CA in the 2000’s and the state(tax payers) had to pay them back.

@@kencook8819 An officer was hit by the vehicle I think…plus the damage to the property. If it were just a hang out fine but people were hurt.
They all must be fully charged including the spectators and parents who are clearly irresponsible.

Immediate suspension of license for 10 years plus huge fines for 1st offense. Revoke lic for repeat off. Also add prison time wherever it deemed fitting.

I blame the Fast and Furious franchise (I hate those movies, and I have grown to hate the people whom make the movies). New, strong laws are required, with genuinely punitive costs. I live in Alief, Houston ton, Texas. Every single night, I can hear them taking over intersections near my home, and drag racing. They do it day and night. There was a truly horrible accident here, involving several people. I am shocked, that you did not include texas in your list. (Oops. I can hear them, right now!)

There was some kid doing 140 in a 45, and hit a van. Killed a wife and infant daughter, left the husband broken.
This is real life, not Need for Speed.
We've had this issue in Los Angeles for years. It so often takes a trajedy to jump-start any kind of viable reaction against life-threatening criminals.
Cops let this get way out if hand. They should have cracked down on this long ago. Now there is no way they can get that genie back in the bottle!
I mean, all those cities defunded their police and told them to stop enforcing the law. Got what they wanted I guess.

Yep they did that quite a few times just a couple blocks from where I live. Hasn't happened in quite a while thank goodness we'll see what happens this summer.

High speed chases by police should be banned as well! I’m not going to just blame a movie. No one should be on any roads, highways, or streets driving at a high rate of speed, unless it’s the fire department or ambulance. I understand if there’s a car accident. It’s more dangerous with a chase.
Why not just do background checks on mods that racers buy, not all of them are mechanics, a lot of them still have to come to the shop and purchase, using their debit cards the mods that they install into their cars to make them go faster.
