    The battery (on some of these older Hondas) is more for the lights/charging system. It also runs the unregulated electricity generated at the stator through a regulator, allowing for a 6volt power source that won’t pop the bulbs.
    This is why (on some models) it is important to always run a battery, even if it’s dead.

      See the video on RUclips, about Pardue Brothers lighting kits for ct70, ct90 etc. They sell a rectifier that will handle the voltage on these bikes, to prevent the bulbs from blowing. They also have LED bulbs for these bikes too. Their webside at present is shut down. I bought the rectifier and bulbs for my CT 70, seems to be working great. FYI

    Are you stating that both battery terminals are negative? Red is positive, the blue clip would go onto the negative post, correct?

    Hi! I did the same upgrade as you and i have an issue with the wires... They get super high temperatures... It seems like a short circuit but i dont understand why. Could you please guide me with this? I'm also loooking for the exact spark plug model for my dax, do you know it?

    Can you give us an update on how the battery is going ? I would have thought that this battery would not be suitable for motorcycles because of the vibration and the jarring you would get causing the plates to touch over time inside the battery and fail. They would be used for more static applications. Traditional flooded lead acid batteries i believe will last longer than the AGM because of vibration and if you wanted to go sealed battery then the gel battery is best but costs more.

      No issues with these batteries. Biggest benefit is less chance of acid leaking.

    I have a very strange thing happening with my 1971 ct70. As I continued with the restoration, I in stalled a new complete harness. The battery connector is a four prong with the short jumper wire. The bike starts and runs well with the battery disconnected at the connector. With the engine running, if I try and plug the harness into the battery, it will immediately kill the engine.

      If you haven't figured it out yet it might be your kill switch that's on or it's broken and is always on.

    • @flyboyslc1
      @flyboyslc1 8 месяцев назад

      @@alexboden7210 I did figure it out. I found that the battery connector was wired incorrectly at battery factory. I had to de pin the connector and swap two wires and it then worked fine. No kill switch on my 1971 that I am aware of.

    Do you know if I Can do this with a Ct90? Obviously wired like a CT90. I’m thinking maybe yes but figured I’d throw the question out there.

    Any issue running the loop back wire with a battery installed?

    • @VintageHondaMinis
      @VintageHondaMinis  4 года назад +2

      No issues - That jumper loop is stock from factory. Many times you'll get a bike that has no battery. That jumper loop is part of the battery's connector. So in order to get bike to run without battery you need to add back the jumper. Make sense?

      I got a rechargeable square 6 V battery for a lantern at Walmart for six or seven bucks been in there for three years, had a 1982 Honda XL 500 R, and I put a Cordless drill battery 12 V and it worked out fine.
