I gained a whole lot of respect for Hamed with his interview giving all the credit to Barrera winning and not making any excuses. I hate when boxers do that, or say “all the credit to him, but I was off because of...” It’s just a backhanded compliment. So when a guy that’s undefeated, cocky, and confident loses but gives an interview like that I really appreciate it.

The difference between Hamed and Wilder, is that Hamed wasn't dumb enough to ever truly believe his own bullshit. He was just having fun, and trying to psyche out the opposition, so when he eventually got beat up, he was like "oh well".

Which is what made Sky Sports' coverage so embarrassing. They could write a book with all the excuses they gave. It's applicable to so many different fights almost solely due to the extreme bias they have towards their home-grown fighters.

Ahmed was a really tough talented elusive unique individual with a lot of upside and it's a shame that he never fought after this but what happened really in this fight was that he underestimated his opponent he underestimated the amount of power and basically the heart he had and one of the worst things I think number one was that during training Emmanuel Steward no lie my nigga I remember him saying that the prince got all the tapes of barreras fights but he only focused on watching the fights that he had lost instead of watching all the fights that he had won like WTF man at least watch the fights against the best opponents and see him at his best and see what he does well what he does better than you what he does that might affect your upside how he plays to your weaknesses how he plays to your strengths you want to watch your opponent at their best notice not watch them at their worst that's pointless loss is different but it's also the same they failed to do what they should do not every victory is completely distinct because every opponent is different and he was a smart enough fighter where he should have known that great fighters are built molded in the clash of fisticuffs and furious combat talent will have you homeless if hardwork isn't your secondary breathing apparatus but regardless of shortcomings me I think both guys should be in the Hall of Fame Barrera has more of a legacy you know he had epic wars with guys like Marquez wars with Manny Pacquiao and of course Morales and s*** but yeah be eazy my brother keep up the great I work love it live it nobody plays boxing

Great performer for England at the time BUT truth is most of his opponents on domestic scene were easy wins when it came to Barrera he was exposed most of his technique was based around southpaw angle with a cork screw upper to get in / with no jab or set up/ Conner mc Tapper does it now and if you think about it the same thing has happend to him getting caught with that technique. same with the mouth that in the end doesnt quite match the work.

Nice video, although bit of key insight you might consider adding/changing:
There was a long delay with the ringwalks as Barrera was ready to go out. What happened?
The Barrera camp got tipped off that Naz was known to cut the thumb attachment to his gloves so he can do a flip over the ropes (it is otherwise impossible). The commission caught Naz, and forced him to change gloves at the last min. Naz was then seen unhappy with the new pair, and asked his camp to re-glove his left hand. Barrera can be seen watching the live feed from Naz's dressing room at this point and his whole camp laughing. This was the actual reason Naz never did a flip again. The commission considered fining Naz for tampering with his gloves, but think they quickly dropped it in the end (being a minor infringement).

This is a fantastic & well put together production.
I'm from the UK & I remember betting on this. I don't gamble but Barrera was my favourite fighter at the time, he had shades of 'Julio Cesar Chavez' who is my all time favourite fighter.
    Anyway..
I didn't get 3-1, maybe because I placed the bet the day of the fight? I got 2-1 at £100. The booky thought I was nuts.
    Hmmm!
Many years later either Barrera or Morales put a tweet out with a short vid on the anniversary of their first fight of which Morales got the nod. I replied to that tweet with my opinion on who 'really' won, 'Barrera' & would you know, they both 'liked' that tweet.
Yes it was them, blue tick.
I replied how made up I was & what a good sport Morales was & again they, 'liked' that reply.
    Much respect to them both.
True warriors & a credit to their country & the sport of boxing.

The jury's still out with me.

Considering his pretty boy looks and marketability, he could’ve easily cherry picked his way around the most dangerous guys, but he chose to take the hardest fights even when he was well past his prime

A tale of Lomachenko vs Lopez would be great because it seemed to be a pivot from that little "transition era" between today's young talents and the time of Floyd and Pacquiao. Loma was dominating that brief transition period but Lopez came and shook everything up becoming arguably the youngest undisputed lightweight in history. Now Loma needs to get a title from these young fighters to get his name back in the conversation. The fight itself was pretty ass, but it was a big game changer

As a fight fan, I say "great video" for content and production, largely because this is one of my favorite all-time fights, but also because I appreciate any expression of an adept skill set and the work that goes into projects like these. As a musician, I say "DAMN that is some amazing soundtrack work!" Production value is a big bonus point for me in these kinds of videos, but actually taking time to create or find atmosphere with great music? That deserves far more recognition and appreciation than it gets. Because regardless of whether it's a case of talent or taste, creating or finding, those seemingly little things we often take for granted really add a ton to the message. Well done.

This fight was when Barrera put aside the puncher brawler crowd pleasing style and said I'm going to use my superior boxing skills the world has not seen for some time and take mr hamed to school and completely show what pure boxing iq and determination will do to unorthodox fighting style in the squared circle, for us who followed boxing in this time frame, hamed was unbeatable and favored to get a k.o win , when Barrera shut him down it was a huge victory for us mexican boxing fans, respect to naseem a once in a lifetime type of fighter who accepted his loss like a true champion and gave Marco the nod of approval for a well executed game plan

Barrera showed everyone that he worked so hard that night after getting put down by the media. But prince didn't work too hard, I guess that weight loss he had to do, but also because he thought the same Barrera against Jones was the one coming into the ring. Prime vs Prime. We NEVER usually see that in these higher weight classes, but they do happen in these lower weight classes from feather down to strawweight. Great as always hancho
