Wow, 16 world title fights (first as a challenger, 15 successfully defending the title), before he lost. 37 fights in total, 36 wins, and 31 of them by knockout. Family man. Ruled primarily by humility and religion. This, objectively, is what you can easily describe as one of the most satisfying win over life. Deserves nothing but respect!
james elliott are you sure 😂😂😂 Naz fought till the end in that match and everyone know That he was after an injury, and everyone can see the big difference between Naz in that match and the others. 31 KO legend
This guy is a great fighter. I dont care that he is an Arab. The man was the most exciting guy to watch when he was going. Period. He lost to Barrera but styles makes fights.
Kelvin Thomas Agree, he was never dull, he had such a unique style, great power, massive confidence, solid chin, at times the way he moved reminded me of gumby lol...definitely a stand out fighter and should be remembered that way.
Kelvin my brother i totally agree with you! Btw nobody has represented boxing for the UK the way he did. My opinion, he shouldn't have stopped fighting on his 28th, he should have gone 2 more years, but i understand that he had lost his fatherly trainer because of money issues. In any business if you cross any trustworthy person for your own gain, you'll eventually become the loser in one way or another. Anyways Naseem was an amazing boxer, he brought both a good fight and a comedy show! Who can do that? Until this day, Nobody! Kelvin, honestly you must be one of the better people, just for saying what you said. My respect!
Kelvin Thomas Yeah he was exciting to watch...he was at times pretty funny too.....He met his end with Barerra tho. But he took his loss well. I'll give it to him for that one!
newcountryguy well he played around with Barrera too much. He should have just gone in there straight business winging for the fences because Barrera is the type of fighter that would have engaged him.
NAZ ... You'll always be remembered for the awesome signature style you've left behind you in boxing history ... for now, you really deserve to just relax n enjoy watching your old days vids!
I am looking forward to meeting The Prince in Canastota, New York, at The International Boxing Hall Of Fame, when he gets inducted into the Hall. I am looking forward to shaking his hand, hopefully a photo and an autograph. And telling him how much we loved him and thank him for all the great boxing memories !!
Back in tha day, this man was incredible, pure entertainment. We need more all round boxer/entertainers, not the boring klitchkos and gayweathers of today. All boxers put on weight when they hang up the gloves, look at tyson, ricky hatton etc so stop actin kids y'all keyboard warriors.
+Jaime Garcia 49-0 record and you call Mayweather gay??? been a world champion since '97 and you call him gay??? retired from boxing and turned in all his belts, that nobody could take, but yet you call Mayweather gay??? you're giving Prince Nasheem so much respect and incredible he was, but yet you call Mayweather gay??? I don't know what you're sniffin' over there, but that powder has you delusional. besides, what's a Prince to a King with a 49-0 record!!!?
+Jaime Garcia Not the two best examples, Tyson had problems with alcohol and drugs even while he was fighting, Hatton had problems with alcohol even while he was fighting. I hope Hamed is not considering a comeback he'll get hit on the chin,( with so many to aim at his opponent will think it's party time)he's got more chins than a Chinese phone book.
for a humble ex champ as yourself I find it inspiring to know, not for my self because im older than you but for younger people that follow & admire you, that you openly hold your father in a god-like manner...its rightful & honourable....my humble respects to you champ
15:20 FACTS! what a legend! it created so much interest! I remember as a kid witnessing PRINCE fight! and when he retired I was sad... but then PACQUIAO CAME ALONG! what a legend! but Prince literally amazing and the confidence was insane
People who do not nor have not ever "Boxed" will always disrespect those that do or have. Its called cowardice and false-bravado. Prince Naseem was and is an outstanding master of `Boxing. Like to see him coach youngsters at some point. Guy beat everybody. Lost to Barrera on points; not KO`d or stopped by MAB....Show respect! Only a man who has not been at the sharp end or trained brutally would dare disrespect a great fighter. My regards to Naz! - Kru Jason
Naz, absolute legend, no-one will ever rock the boxing World again in the way Naz did, Naz era was a truly special, unbelievable time, miss those days!
Good to see you Naseem on RUclips, the one of my favorites boxing in your time, I'm from Samoan but I'm in New Zealand for 27 years now, David Tua is my cousin I love to watch both of you guys in the ring. Can't wait to see bot of you when read to fight with anyone. Stay safe prince 🙏 love from NZ Samoan.
I grew up watching him he was such a talented guy and by far my favourite and just a class guy.Who cares if he was Arab?Ihad an Irish accent growing up in Canada and faced the bullshit too but rise above that bullshit don't let anyone take away who you are he was a true prince
Legendary boxer , without doubt the most entertaining fighter of the times. Remember being really young and just wanting to watch him fight even when I didn't understand boxing .. Truly gifted , shame he didn't live up to what was a God given talent
LEGENDARY?.... DID HE HAD LIKE 100 FIGHTS? LIKE RAY ROBINSON... DURAN.. OR CHAVEZ? LEGENDARY? DID HE CONQUER 5 DIVISIONS... 6 DIVISIONS.. 8 DIVISIONS?... LEGENDARY? DID HE BEAT THE BEST IN THE DIVISION? PACQUIAO, MARQUEZ, BARRERA, MORALES?... .
I didn't know The Prince had a RUclips Channel. Prince Naseem Hamed is one of my favorite boxers of all time. He was a great showman and made boxing FUN to watch again. Even the fight with Barrera was a damn good fight, and Barrera was great as well.
I love this guy. You know why? He is a very nice person. But I just love the way he knocked people out. I love his style. It’s so boosting watching him in action. And I love this interview because without it we wouldn’t appreciate what he is. He’s a man with character which stems from his belief in God. Very nice what he said about his father. He’s sensible. Not hyped up. And he’s very intelligent. He expresses this in his conversation by his ability to articulate intelligently. Down to earth. He was the best. Without a doubt the best. His tremendous ability gave him his great self belief. When you can fight like him how could you doubt. His amazing success will fuel his fire for the rest of his life. I wish him well as will all who see this interview. Good interview by Gary. He didn’t interrupt too much. And was fairly relaxed. If you want to be a great interviewer you need to put a cork in it and let the other guy talk and have his say.
Naz hands down the best talented boxer to come out of uk. My favourite fighter of all time. Tell me anyone who would come to the ring on a flying carpet , make a boxing match into a concert , flip into the ring show confidence, show speed, shower power then BOOM!!!!!!! Hate him or love him you will always remember him. Nobody like him!!!!!!!!!!!!!
as a professional fighter you have to overflow with confidence, you are getting on the ring in front of the world to fight, you can get severely hurt or die, the only way to fight hard is to be over confident, there is no other way Naseem was misunderstood, me included, he actually seems to be a very likeable person, I enjoy seeing his interviews.
Amazing interview with Naz & Gary , both a bit older than the heyday ! Naz was massive before the social media generation came along . This is a interview that is needs to be watched by all Naz fans from his era
Unbelievable boxer, one of the best ever from Britain, people used to smile whilst watching him, what we'd give for someone like him nowadays. Man had bare power, only 9st 2 aswell
One of the top 5 ever. Complete fighter with incredible power for his weight. And looking what is box now i am affraid he will stay at top 5 for long, if not forever. Box lost its soul, like football and almost every other sport. They were making a tons of money too back then, but still they had something that this steroid filled robots today doesnt have. Salute to you prince!!
Arguably my favorite boxer of all time. Not because he was the best or anything, but because the made the sport entertaining during his fights. Don't get me wrong. He was a good fighter. Very skilled and talented, especially with his movements. But his unique style made him stand out.
The fact is Barrera was the only top class fighter who wasn't past his best that Hamed fought in his entire career, and the way he easily beat him showed that Hamed was not top class.
Nothing But Respect and great memories of Prince Naz he brought something different to boxing that was entertaining and people loved or hated him. I know his sister and Naz is a really really chill person living legend.!!!
He was entertaining, but he was not a likeable person. He was always an irritating little shit, nobody liked him and they just wanted to see him beaten. He was beaten the first time he fought a world class boxer who was at his peak rather than way past it.
The man pulled off the A-hole persona so well, I forgot that he had a great personality. Naseem gets all the respect he deserves for being an amazing showman with his own unique style.
most impressive thing bout the prince now he is humble very important in life , how he talks of his mentors and the folks he came up with and showing them the respect and gratitude they deserve
Can't nobody take anything away from The Prince, no matter how many haters say whatever about him. There will never b another cat like this, & that in itself means more than any hater rhetoric. Even if u didn't like him, u still watched. All hail The Prince, 1 of the best 2 ever do it.
Prince Naseem was a super-flashy showman of a fighter who had monstrous punching power. His fight with Kevin Kelley is ever bit as incredible as Hearns vs Hagler. This guy was "CAN'T MISS TV".
I used to watch his fights only to see him loose because I though he was so arrogant and disrespectful towards his opponents. This interview completely changed my perception of him. He is actually a very sharp and cool guy who was just promoting his fights and had hell of success with it. That's why he could retire early having earned money for a lifetime.
If he was not formally introduced i would never know its the same man.Till today i couldnt see anyone equally interesting and unique as this legendary boxer.
To see greatness and not acknowledge it is to diminish our own greatness. The loveable Muhammad Ali said he was the greatest and he was great but the Prince was greater.
i was waiting for his fights front of the tv in his prime in the 90s i was teenager at the time he really was fun to watch him talented fighter NOSTALGIA
Great interview and that is incredible that Calzaghe/Eubank was on his undercard as i wouldnt have thought it either tbh. Eubank was good but nobody done the showmanship quite like the prince and the fact he had the skills to back it up in the ring with tremendous KO power as well is why he is my favorite fighter of all time and the main reason why i am a boxing fan.
He is a proud Muslim and a proud Arab! And for those who don't respect that and doesn't like him for his roots and religion well they r racist and jealous of him for what he is and what he did.
Hamed vs. Badillo In Hamed's hometown of Sheffield in October 1997, he produced one of the best performances of his career in defending his WBO title against Jose Badillo, whose corner entered the ring to stop the fight during round 7. Hamed's status as one of the biggest draws in the sport was evident with a stellar undercard that included Joe Calzaghe vs. Chris Eubank for the world super middleweight title.[14]
What a great sportsman he was in his day. I always stayed up late to watch his fights. Was a great entertainer and always pulled it out of the bag. It was great to see him win however staying up in he early hours to see a few rounds did get annoying but it was always great to watch. Was ashame to see him retire. Would have loved to have gone to a fight and met him.
Thanks man, you brought real insight to the sport. I worry about making wight then fighting afterwards and doing it all off injury. That used to be my biggest worry
I am Mexican but I always respect the Prince Naseem for being someone that respected the sport off the ring and to his opponents. After his loss to Marco Antonio Barrera I actually clapped his words; 'it was god's will' and yes, Barreras will and he congratulated him. The only reason he didn't come back the same after that fight is because HE WAS EXPOSED to real Good Orthodox boxing! In a way, boxing and showmanship will always be thankful to making boxing interesting. God bless him.
Whatever anyone thinks he shook up boxing big time, and for me was the first small boxer who could make me jump out of my seat with excitement he was a very exciting boxer.
I remember when he used to go around the local mega store called Meadow hall before he was big - he was as cocky outside the ring as in. He used to eat chicken sandwiches from mcdonalds and looks like he still does.... But he is a legend despite all the showboating he really was a freaking talented guy.
I enjoyed the man, watching him come to the ring and the after fight shit talk was just good boxing and was good for the sport, I respect the man just as I do other fighters, it was all in the game, respect the game and the man who played it well,
One of the most best fighters that ever lived very good role model very good Muslim good Muslim machine Ahmed I'm mad good role model and may God give his father the highest rank of heaven 🙏 🙌
Correction! He was on the Calzaghe Eubank undercard : October 1997, Sheffield England, Sports Network/HBO Main Event WBO Super-Middleweight Championship Chris Eubank Vs Joe Calzaghe WBO Featherweight Championship Naseem Hamed Vs Jose Badillo European Cruiserweight Championship Johnny Nelson Vs Dirk Wallyn (Undercard included Paul Ingle, Ryan Rhodes, Jason Matthews)
You are the best and greatest boxer at featherweight division. No boxer can do what you do even in any weight division, without covering your face or protecting your head and face....
Wow, 16 world title fights (first as a challenger, 15 successfully defending the title), before he lost. 37 fights in total, 36 wins, and 31 of them by knockout. Family man. he fought a bunch a chumps...the first real fight was BARRERA and thats why he lost!
He only lost one fight. He is one of the greatest of all time in my book,no matter what.

You are the best and greatest boxer at featherweight division. No boxer can do what you do even in any weight division, without covering your face or protecting your head and face....
