    Enjoy your leave. Loved the brief shots of your cabin with the ship rolling sharply. Brings back memories of trying to sleep wedged into the corner of my bunk while the ship did it's best to deposit me on the deck!

    Another awesome video, thanks! You make ordinary into extraordinary. Glad to see your departure was from Singapore…best Chicken & Rice ever across that Nation. Spent decades in and out of Singapore for Military Sealift Command…”United we Sail”. Safe transit home shipmate. Hug those trees, gently! Carry on!

    I am the same way about cities Madeline. I find the peace and tranquility of the forest very therapeutic. The noise and din of the city is indeed depressing. I don't mind going into Boston or Chicago for business. But I get the fuck out as soon as I can and back to the woods of New Hampshire. Have a nice trip home and I wish you well. Cheers

    Do you have the opportunity to choose not to fly home immediately, but spend a week or so touring Singapore before flying home? Seems like a shame not to begin your leave touring a foreign country.

    • @m.leinewolczko
      @m.leinewolczko  Год назад

      Yes, per our contract you can get cash in lieu of a flight. But honestly the last thing I want to do when I get off 4 months of standing watch is bustle right into international travel. The first thing I want to do is spend 2 weeks straight with my family

  • @loislane5092

    As to being alone and being in a city, if you choose to, you can be alone and peaceful while living in a city. And I don't mean the stereotypical cruel anonymity one hears about. I mean by choice. I've lived in middle sized cities most of my life but enjoy being alone a lot and achieve that rather well. But that isn't the same as being lonely. Being alone and being lonely are definitively not the same thing. I'me certainly not lonely but enjoy being alone. Yes, out in the country it's different, but you can often (not always) still achieve much (not all) of what you want no matter where you.

    Just out of curiosity, does the company pay to fly you back home? I hear that mariners aren’t treated well (or paid well) by the various companies.

    • @m.leinewolczko
      @m.leinewolczko  Год назад +1

      They pay for business class and they pay our base wage on travel days. It helps to have a union working for you 😊
