My husband and I are Canadians and have had the absolute pleasure and privilege of living in Singapore for the past 15 years. It is a beautiful city with a mix of modern and traditional, offering an exceptional quality of life. Yes, it can be expensive, but a lot depends on one's lifestyle choices. I love that Singapore is a clean, safe, and vibrant city and that everything is efficient and convenient. The city/state runs like a well-oiled machine! The thing that I appreciate the most about Singapore is its strict rule of law. Yes, I am in favour of all the rules! These rules are why Singapore is one of the safest cities in the world and continues to attract foreign talent, investment and capital. The strict rule of law has created a cohesive society where there is a lot of trust, be it in the government /politicians, institutions and people. Trust is the foundation of any successful nation, and in this day and age, it is sadly lacking in other countries. While things are declining in many parts of the world, I see Singapore continuing to thrive and enjoy economic, political and social stability. Majulah Singapura (Onward Singapore)!
You guys went to MacRitchie Reservoir's Tree Top Walk on your FIRST day in Singapore??? Mad respect to you!! Indeed it's a 'hidden' gem that no tourist would normally visit. You just discovered the tropical side of Singapore with it's (nearly) unspoilt rainforest, after all we're just 1 degree above the equator.
Haha thank you. We wanted to do something really special with our limited time there instead of only the usual stuff. So glad we did, it was really worth the effort to see another side of the city.
No one cares if u chew gum. I think that’s a big misconception about singapore. Yes we have many rules but it’s not like we feel stifled or feel like there is someone watching us all the time. We ain’t North Korea. It’s just normal daily life for us and most of us don’t really care if someone else chews or doesn’t chews gum.
I'm honestly impressed that you guys hit the forest on the first day because most tourists stay in the city area. Our nature is a major plus for us because we actually have a lot of natural diversity despite our size. Other than McRitchie the other location you can hit up is sungei buloh wetland reserve. It's a nice mangrove forest with crabs, birds, crocodiles (yes), fish and other lovely wildlife. If you come at the right times you can also see migratory birds because Singapore is a major stopover point for birds migrating from Eurasia to australia
We really wanted to do something special with our limited time there and so glad we did! Thank you for watching and we'll make a note of Sungei Buloh for next time 😃
I go to Sing frequently as my wife is from there and still has aunts, uncles and cousins there. We typically stay between 4 and 8 days and we find that’s about the limit. You have to remember that these are the main activities for most Singaporeans: 1. Eating 2. Talking about eating 3. Shopping 4. Going to travel agencies to find deals for traveling outside of Singapore We stay near Clarke Quay. It’s well situated for Chinatown as well as being easy walking distance to the Merlion and Bugis. Two MRT lines are quite near and many major bus lines converge here. Besides family, we enjoy hiking and there are quite a few nice hiking areas…..as long as you go early. Bukit Timah, the Southern Ridges and MacRitchie Reservoir are all great hikes early in the day. We like heading out to Katong at least once each trip. Good Laksa at Roxy Square and good Nyonya goodies to eat across the street. We try to avoid Orchard Road, as it’s pretty much all high end stuff, though the basement at Takashimaya (sp?) reminds one of department stores in Japan. When we shop,it’s at neighborhood malls. Eating is generally at hawker centers like Old Airport, Hong Lim and Chomp Chomp. We don’t do much in the way of traditional tourist stuff, but the zoo is supposed to be fantastic, both day and night. Gardens by the Bay is a great place, though the price of the attractions is a little steep. Sentosa has a casino and Universal Studios. So, is Singapore worth a stay? Yes it is.
Great to see something other than the usual tourist places. Plenty of walks and wildlife around Singapore. Kudos on taking one in on the first day. A majority of the land surface in Singapore is green - enjoy it on future visits. Usually totally missed out by visiting tourists. Expensive pint, yes, but you should have ordered a couple of large bottles of Tiger beer in a local place. Eat and drink local and Singapore is not expensive. World class public transport is cheap too. Accommodation and private cars are the expensive stuff. I moved from UK to live permanently in Singapore 30 years ago. Best thing I have ever done. Fabulous place.
You guys have my utmost respect for going off the regular tourist trail on your first day there. There is deep wisdom in that, a wisdom I admit I don't have. haha Btw you guys have good vibes, whatever you're doing, keep it up

Hi there. Singaporean here. I would recommend Maxwell Road Hawker Centre (MRT: Maxwell. Food: Chicken rice, fish soup), Gardens by the Bay/Marina Bay Sands (try to visit Cloud Forest and Flower Dome), Katong area (especially junction of Joo Chiat Road/Koon Seng Road for Peranakan houses. You can also eat a famous laksa called 328 LAKSA), Orchard Road, Golden Mile Hawker Centre (famous for Cha Kway Teow), Merlion Park and if you are adventurous, go to the suburban e.g. Bedok MRT (there is a shopping mall and you can explore Bedok Interchange Hawker Centre + surrounding shops).

Welcome to Singapore!! Thank you for all your nice comments about Singapore. I hope you enjoyed yourselves n had a great time here! Transport, foods n shopping (in certain areas) are relatively inexpensive. I was in London last year n I enjoyed myself so much at my favourite Oxford Street! I went shopping there for 3 days straight! I love e cool weather in London! It’s great that we enjoy other countries when we travel. Do come to Singapore again! Cheers! 👍😀
Its comical and iconic that most tourists come for the supertrees, but you guys went for the real trees 😆 Its nice to see though, cus most tourists miss the forests for the concrete. 🎉
I went there this summer and really didn't like Gardens by the Bay... Instead what I really really loved was Botanic Gardens. Possibly the most beautiful large city park I've ever been too. My experience there was on par with Central Park if not better.
Literally my favourite place on earth. Last visited over 10 years ago for part of my honeymoon (Also did Langkawi ,Kota Kinabalu and Kuala Lumpur) and I still bang on about it! Just had a baby so as soon as she is old enough to cope with humidity and a 12 hour flight im going back :D
Johor Bahru (in Malaysia) is commonly known as 'JB'. Many Malaysians who live in JB cross the bridge into Singapore each day to work. Singapore is indeed a nice, clean and safe place. Marina Bay is an absolute highlight and features many bars, restaurants and hotels. So is the Boat Quay on the Singapore River.
There is another much more scenic route to the tree top walk via the MacRitchie reservoir boardwalk. However, it will take 4 hr through that longer route. You get to see lots more monkey and serene reservoir from that beautiful route.
Love love LOVE SG! had the honour to live there for 3 years! Love the people, amazing food, and being able to travel around the island/islands and the monsoons! Miss you dreadfully, SG!❤
Hi Adam and Yaz, stumbled upon this video and I must say it is such an awesome video. So glad that both of you enjoyed your stay in Singapore. Thank you for making such an amazing and positive video of my home 🇸🇬.
HAHAHAHA😂You have done it right by experiencing the causeway. 😅 Glad you made it to the top! I didn’t make it up to the top of Treetop Walk the one time I tried. I felt like fainting halfway and had no choice but to rest and wait for the guide to come back down.
You need to come to Singapore from middle of June till August the 9th. We have fireworks every Saturday from middle of June till August 9th. It is so beautiful, you gonna love Singapore.
If you couple like walks through nature and stuff, then you might want to visit Pulau Ubin. It's an island that is an extension of Singapore. You need to take a ferry from the Changi Jetty to get there. It is mostly rainforest, mangrove swamps and beaches there. You can camp at the beach there, if you brought a tent. I camped there during my Secondary School days as a Boy Scout some 20+ years ago. We learned to set up our tents. Then we started our own fires and then were cooking our instant noodles in our own mess tins over the fire. I cheated abit by bringing some solid fuel instead of using the tinder, sticks and leaves we were supposed to find. Some of my friends even brought marshmallows. Remember to bring insect repellent though, or at least the mosquito patches to keep them away. Looking back now, pretty fun times it was indeed.
Singaporean here! Its actually fine to bring chewing gum into Singapore. The government start having a problem when you start selling or importing it. Just remember to dispose of your gum properly! We hope to accomodate you again soon. 😊😊
As the other people mentioned, you can go to many other nature reserves in Singapore. Maybe you can even take a ferry out to Pulau Ubin which is a small island for hiking. There’s seafood restaurants there but remember to bring adequate water and take note of the ferry timing. The Changi Point Ferry Terminal also has an excellent food centre nearby (Changi Village Food Centre) with amazing food. Cheers!
If you get the chance to go back, I highly recommend visiting the zoo and bird park. A little far from the downtown core, but absolutely worth it. Budget the whole day for it.
Amazing vlog! Thanks for featuring our little island to the world. You guys seem so fun to hang out with! If you're ever back in town, please allow me to bring you to the places that the locals head to for a taste of the hidden gems of Singapore. Safe travels, until the next time!
I can't wait to be able to travel and just experience interacting with people from different cultures, different foods and different places, but until then I'll keep watching videos which like this which kinda makes me feel like on the trip with you guys lol.
You guys should really try out the MBS hotel next time!!!also amazing vlog and as a Singaporean, I'm proud that you guys loved our small garden city!!!!
Welcome mates. Cool couple. There are cheaper food & beer if you travel out of the touristy areas. Jus love your English accent. Jus enjoy your holiday here without any stress of being pickpocket or victim of crime.
wow you guys have quite the stamina. 😄 you covered quite a lot in a day. I brought my relatives from overseas around Singapore not long ago, and we couldn't cover as much in a day coz they were exhausted due to the humidity and heat.
Haha we wanted to do something really really special with our limited time there and so glad we did! We were exhausted too believe me, just tried not to show it too much 😃 ❤️ 🇸🇬
We do have 4 basic races here as in Chinese, Malay, Indian and Eurasian. Each of these ethnic has it very own cuisine and culture. Go explore around to discover more. We also the first UNESCO heritage site garden here in Singapore. There are so much to see, so much to do.
Most tourists (and locals) dont realise that the "Supertrees" are not just metal structures to hang lights on.... they are actually giant solar collectors that collect energy in the daytime for the park....hence the awards the park won for sustainability. Next time you are there, read the giant stickers at the Supertrees, they will explain this.
Nice video. Thanks for such a nice introduction of my country. That flight of stairs after the treetop walk is brutal. Good thing there was a rest stop halfway up.
Most foreigners has the misconception that it is illegal to be seen with chewing gum in Singapore😂I often brought over gum for friends and colleagues (not a lot of cause). You are not allowed to sell it (unless for medical reasons via the pharmacies) but you can consume.
The term market or Pa Sat in Lau Pa Sat actually comes from the word Bazaar which in turns influence the Malay word for market which is 'Pasar' (or it could be the other way round) and the Chinese term Ba Sha (Pa Sat is a Chinese Hokkien dialect pronunciation). So Bazaar, Pasar, Pa Sat which all mean the same thing, is just one example of the multi-lingual and multi-racial influence in Singaporean society. For example, the term Pa Sat in Chinese does not exist in China/Taiwan and is only uniquely used by Chinese in Singapore/Malaysia. Several other similar terms such as 'Go Astern' which came from British English has morphed into the word 'Gostan', commonly used here.
"Ba sha" and pat sat are basically the words adopted by the local hokkien, which then formed part of Singlish. It's essentially how the creole language is formed. Basha is being passed out in singapore chinese textbooks and replaced with the proper Chinese word "caishichang". You see it less and less in local mediaas week. It's mostly being used informally now as opposed to 20 years ago.
@@adamandyaz You seem to like the nature as much as the touristy places. Botanic Gardens is a great suggestion. Also Sungei Buloh Wetlands (you may need to take a cab or Grab). You may want to explore Pulau Ubin, but it is a little inaccessible (or time consuming to get there. But if you do, Changi Village is quite rustic (compared to the other Changi - Jewel). And if your budget permits, check out the Zoos. Yes, plural. There is the Singapore Zoo, the Night Safari, River Wonders, and Bird Paradise (? they recently moved and rebranded themselves). The Pandas are at River Wonders.
Yes, Props to that uncle driving the grab car to introduce the three main seasons to these tourists That chatty personality was to make your ride Hawker centers are the go-to place for good food whenever Singapore are hungry. Yes, you can eat and drink on the street If the monkeys attack you, kick it or try to throw it off you then , Run, but if you are in a group you should be safe as they will be thinking twice before trying to attack. It "got really European" cause Singapore was Colonized by the British in the past
I have been to Singapore 3 times and Malaysia 6 times. I have been to Johor Bahru to get to Singapore on one of the trips - the process was quite easy. They were strict on chewing gum but the city is so clean.and beautiful. You can easily do the main tours in 2/3 days without fuss but I did use the metro quite a bit to get to various places
I have no idea who started this fake news that we can’t chew gums in Singapore😵💫. For so many years we been explaining to ppl that many of u have been mistaken on the rule.(I suspect the creator been told by the clueless Malaysians before they came into Singapore)😂In fact the rule has never been changed, u can chew gums in Singapore, it’s only the SALE of gums is banned. I noticed sometimes ppl just copy & paste news online even when they aren’t familiar or even sure about the REAL situation. I can only conclude why ppl have mistaken is due to the short form of English writing on the rule: “no chewing gum”. So when anyone sees this esp those who know vy little on English language would somehow assume that we are not allowed to chew gums😅..So I would like to clarify this to everyone again that U are still allowed to bring in gums from overseas for PERSONAL consumption only, just no sale on that,ok?🥰❤❤ That means to say If u bring in “many” big cartons of gums in, then of course that would attract the attention at the custom & the officer might assume u’re bringing in that many to sell them🙃If u get caught bringing too many gums in then they might impose a fine of NO MORE than SGD $2000 & might confiscate ur “stock” of gums😆🤭
Hey the next time you are back, try cycling, we have an extensive network of cycling paths. This way, you can travel faster and see more. If your bike is a foldie, u can bring it on the SMRT, otherwise, there are many places you can rent a bike by the hour or day.
Chewing gum is not completely banned in Singapore, but its sale and import are tightly regulated. Singapore implemented strict regulations on chewing gum in the 1990s due to issues related to gum litter and vandalism. The government imposed a ban on the sale of chewing gum for several years, but these restrictions were relaxed over time. Chewing gum with therapeutic or dental benefits is allowed, but it needs to be purchased from a registered pharmacy and is subject to certain restrictions. However, the sale of regular chewing gum is not allowed. You can bring in chewing gum for your personal consumption but importing large quantities may raise questions at the customs as you might be deemed to be selling them in Singapore. So, in short, you can consumed chewing gum brought in by you for your own personal consumption.
Ooh yeah! Public holiday the causeway sure be jam. The day before the public holiday... That why if Singaporean want to drive into Malaysia. Get up every early as 4am onwards to avoid massive jam on the causeway towards Malaysian. And when coming back Singapore, be at the causeway before 6 pm.
Hello, it's Singapore Dollar , no such thing as Singaporean dollar . It's the country (as in Singapore) official currency, not the people (as in Singaporeans) official currency. I notice many foreigners refer to our currency as' the Singaporean $'...and not 'the Singapore $'....lol
Most English speaking you encounter was Singlish ( direct translation from local chinese/malay mixed dialets into english) eg. Lau Pa Sat (chinese/hokkien translation) into Singlish.
Do you know that those super trees are actually chimneys. The garden uses the waste to energy technology to generate electricity. But, if you noticed....there are no smoke coming out of those super tree chimneys.
It is actually not illegal to chew gum in Singapore. It was the import and sale which fyi, has been lifted since 2004. Why people think it is illegal was actually due to a smear campaign by the US to force/shame Singapore into continuing to import of gum from them
Chewing gum is fine. You cannot purchase it in Singapore but it is not illegal to chew it. You can bring it into Singapore only for personal consumption.
Welcome to Singapore ❤ wishing your a Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 2023 and a happy new year 🎉 2024 from Singapore 🇸🇬 ! Happy Birthday Jesus 🎂 God ❤️ You and London and 🌎
If drop by to Singapore Please do drop by at Albert Center Same time visit the Wash Rooms at the Center And conpare With Other county's wash rooms Not to forget to pay Before you enter the wash room
I am a Singaporean. You may have a couple of chewing gums for your own consumption. No crime unless you are importing them for commercial sales. On several occasions, I cross over to Johor Baru to get chewing gums for myself.
On your next trip to Singapore, you should definitely try freshly squeezed sugarcane juice with lemon. It is the best drink ever -- refreshing and so cheap. Another drink to try is Milo Dinosaur....yummm!!! We never missed these two drinks whenever we visit Singapore from Canada.
Officially you cannot bring in chewing gums. But for small quantities say in your pockets, or in your bag pockets, it should be fine. But it was never explicitly stated by the authorities that this is okay

Wow i never laughed on a tour video so much. you guys are super fun and hilarious. Love your energy. Keep up the videos!
We try haha! Thank you 🙏
Both of you are so sweet and fun! Glad you made it to the treetop walk.
Thank you 🤗
Yea! So glad they did and they made it without water. Even a local might have fainted.
It’s a one of a kind place for sure. Really special ❤️ 🇸🇬
Sick video guys, reminds me of when I was there. Loving the editing as well guys so good.
Thanks Matt ❤️
Slick? Ove your comment.
nice vid, glad yall love Singapore. btw, locals don't drink rose syrup often... they order "Bandung". try that next time you come. Cheers
Hi Adam and Yaz, stumbled upon this video and I must say it is such an awesome video. So glad that both of you enjoyed your stay in Singapore. Thank you for making such an amazing and positive video of my home 🇸🇬.
Thank you for watching! Can't wait to come back 🇸🇬❤️
Ohh there you guys are! Woohoo I missed your vids so bad!!! 💛
Hey!
HAHAHAHA😂You have done it right by experiencing the causeway. 😅
Glad you made it to the top!
I didn’t make it up to the top of Treetop Walk the one time I tried. I felt like fainting halfway and had no choice but to rest and wait for the guide to come back down.
Brilliant 5 star video editing

Hell naw if police sees it eating gum you will have fine!!
Living here I can say it IS one of the best places on Earth. 😊
Amazing vlog! Thanks for featuring our little island to the world. You guys seem so fun to hang out with! If you're ever back in town, please allow me to bring you to the places that the locals head to for a taste of the hidden gems of Singapore. Safe travels, until the next time!
Thank you for watching! We would love to! 😃
Singapore's weather: You can take a cold shower, towel up, and leave the shower perspiring. Our national treasure.
Great to see you two back at it!!! 😊
Hey! Thank you ❤️
wow you guys have quite the stamina. 😄 you covered quite a lot in a day. I brought my relatives from overseas around Singapore not long ago, and we couldn't cover as much in a day coz they were exhausted due to the humidity and heat.
Haha we wanted to do something really really special with our limited time there and so glad we did! We were exhausted too believe me, just tried not to show it too much 😃 ❤️ 🇸🇬
❤ Welcome to Singapore ! Wishing you guys an enjoyable and fun stay here. 😊🎉
Singapore is a mix of Europe, Malaysia, India, and China. It's beautiful.
So beautiful ❤️ 🇸🇬
We do have 4 basic races here as in Chinese, Malay, Indian and Eurasian. Each of these ethnic has it very own cuisine and culture. Go explore around to discover more. We also the first UNESCO heritage site garden here in Singapore. There are so much to see, so much to do.
Well made travel vlog! I will give it 5 stars! ❤
Yay! Thank you!
As a local, I haven't even had these experiences you've had! Well-planned.
Wow! That's cool we had now idea! Thanks for sharing 😃
Nice video. Thanks for such a nice introduction of my country. That flight of stairs after the treetop walk is brutal. Good thing there was a rest stop halfway up.
Enjoyed your video abt my own country. So many kind words. Thank you.
Fantastic video of Singapore 💕👏
Thank you for watching! ❤️
Adam & Yaz ! Adam & Yaz !Adam & Yaz ! it's great to see you again! Jojo
Hey hey 😃 ❤️
I never get bored of Singapore, and is as budget as you want If you want free then pop over to the botanic gardens.....fantastic!!
Truly one of the most mind blowing places we have ever been! 😃
Wow Singapore looks so beautiful. That passionfruit tea yummy😊
You must go also!
@@adamandyaz On our bucket list ✈️🌍
Really awesome guys
Yes, Props to that uncle driving the grab car to introduce the three main seasons to these tourists
That chatty personality was to make your ride
Hawker centers are the go-to place for good food whenever Singapore are hungry.
Yes, you can eat and drink on the street
If the monkeys attack you, kick it or try to throw it off you then , Run, but if you are in a group you should be safe as they will be thinking twice before trying to attack.
So when anyone sees this esp those who know vy little on English language would somehow assume that we are not allowed to chew gums😅..So I would like to clarify this to everyone again that U are still allowed to bring in gums from overseas for PERSONAL consumption only, just no sale on that,ok?🥰❤❤
That means to say If u bring in “many” big cartons of gums in, then of course that would attract the attention at the custom & the officer might assume u’re bringing in that many to sell them🙃If u get caught bringing too many gums in then they might impose a fine of NO MORE than SGD $2000 & might confiscate ur “stock” of gums😆🤭
Welcome to Singapore!😊
Ahh good to know thank you 🙏❤️
Hey i have already watched and commented but YT wants me to watch again
Nice vlog - thanks. Everyone loves Singapore ! (Why get the bus that sits in traffic when you can get the MRT train?)
Thank you for watching. Didn't even know that was an option 😅
Ooh yeah! Public holiday the causeway sure be jam. The day before the public holiday... That why if Singaporean want to drive into Malaysia. Get up every early as 4am onwards to avoid massive jam on the causeway towards Malaysian. And when coming back Singapore, be at the causeway before 6 pm.
You should have taken the red SBS bus, they have more buses, and comes very fast.
i can imagine the 30000 steps that you guys had on your 1st day in Singapore!
It felt like way more than that even haha
Hello, it's Singapore Dollar , no such thing as Singaporean dollar .
It's the country (as in Singapore) official currency, not the people (as in Singaporeans) official currency.
I notice many foreigners refer to our currency as' the Singaporean $'...and not 'the Singapore $'....lol
Not many tourist would go to the treetop. Kudos to you. Btw i have not been there myself 😢
Yep, we wanted to do something special with our limited time there and so glad we did!
It's great when you're just visiting.
Most English speaking you encounter was Singlish ( direct translation from local chinese/malay mixed dialets into english) eg. Lau Pa Sat (chinese/hokkien translation) into Singlish.
You two are a nice couple, I really enjoyed your video…
Thank you Mark! 😃❤️
Singapore have bus, mrt and LRT, ai know it cuz I live in Singapore!
Chewing Gum- it's ok for personal consumption 😂u shouldn't throw away😅
Singapore ❤❤❤❤ love this country
Do you know that those super trees are actually chimneys. The garden uses the waste to energy technology to generate electricity. But, if you noticed....there are no smoke coming out of those super tree chimneys.
Rare to see tourists visiting the treetop walk! 💪
We couldn't miss it!
actually, you could get drinking water from the water cooler at the ranger station just before the treetop trail
Ah, did not see that haha
It is actually not illegal to chew gum in Singapore. It was the import and sale which fyi, has been lifted since 2004. Why people think it is illegal was actually due to a smear campaign by the US to force/shame Singapore into continuing to import of gum from them
We are a former colony of great Britain, so yeah our old architecture is mainly european 😊
Chewing gum is fine. You cannot purchase it in Singapore but it is not illegal to chew it. You can bring it into Singapore only for personal consumption.
Sally, nothing happened as long not drugs, anyway welcome to Singapore hope you enjoy your holiday in Singapore 🎉🥰😆
Thank you ❤️🇸🇬
You guys should have brought water for the hike! 😭 dehydration is a real issue in this heat
Yep unprepared as always 😅
@@adamandyazour tap water is perfectly fine for drinking. Used to drink from the tap when I was a kid in school ages ago 😅

thank you uk for founding singapore.
🇬🇧 ❤️ 🇸🇬
Like your sense of humour.
I am a Singaporean. You may have a couple of chewing gums for your own consumption. No crime unless you are importing them for commercial sales. On several occasions, I cross over to Johor Baru to get chewing gums for myself.
Love!
Wait till you see Shanghai!
Singapore is country nice city
Great exsplorr
in my 30 years of my life in singapore, i didn't even set foot to MacRitchie Reservoir's Tree Top Walk lol
My daughter's staying in UK there,married recently,misses the:S'pore food,yeah*Enjoy yr stay.....
Officially you cannot bring in chewing gums. But for small quantities say in your pockets, or in your bag pockets, it should be fine. But it was never explicitly stated by the authorities that this is okay
