Oh but it gets better. Unlike other reptiles, beardie's poops are wet. *really* wet. Like soak into fabric and run down surfaces wet. Of course, it depends on the diet you feed them, but it doesn't change the OTHER other part. They stink. Seriously, the smell their poops give off is incredible. It smells like dog poop, but with more sulfur, and 10x stronger. If you didn't notice them in the act, you'll notice the entire room slowly turning into a biohazard zone. And, while they can be trained, beardies are still just lizards. They'll happily poo on you or on the blankets or whenever else they need to go. It's great!
@@iLoveBeardies mine will either go outside or he's trained to go to a puppy pad to poop on. 99,9% of the time he makes it. I buy the smallest puppy pads available and cut them into squares. I will put a few down while he's roaming and he will go to the pad to poop. It's so much easier for everyone.
My green iguanas always pooped in a kitty litter pan with about 1 inch of water in it. And if the water is dirty...! OMG they give you the "lizard stink eye" while staring at the dirty water and then back at us...like, "I SEE it's dirty! I hope YOU see it's dirty! So please change it!" Iguanas are such clean reptiles!
@TheWhateverMan420 Like I said, it's easier to clean. The poop goes down the drain, then you just spray a little bleach on the drain and presto - clean again!
Understandable. My first beardie Cuddles would have a full blown meltdown on the rare occasions he pooped in his tank instead of the shower drain like we trained him to. Fully blackened beard and running back and forth while scratching at the glass. One time I was at a party and got a call from my dad saying, "The lizard's going crazy!" Asked if there was poop, and after being informed that there was, I instructed him to put him in a tub with some soapy water, then rinse him off, and he'd calm right down.
My boy either poops in the shower or right next to his food bowl and then drags his tail and the last few pieces of his food through it. No in between, either ok place or bad place, lol. Tried moving his food bowl, and nah. He just likes to eat and poop😂

Good to know my beardie isn't the only one that likes to be let out to poo. AND I'm not the only one who uses dog bags for their waste! I fear the smell of my beardie's poo much more than my dog's. Also, as a dog owner, I despise people who never pick up after their dogs. It's not expensive to get a dispenser for bags to keep on the leash, so no forgetting. You wouldn't like it if someone else left dog doo in your yard, why should anyone else deal with your crap? I lived next to someone who NEVER picked up after their dog, despite the neighborhood providing bags and trash recepticles for exactly that. It got SO disgusting. It's one thing if its nighttime and you can't find it, but this was every day, all day, feces and flies everywhere.
Right! People can be so inconsiderate when it comes to these dogs droppings on the ground. They think just bc there’s dirt that it’s find and gonna decompose in seconds 😂, when that is far from the case. It doesn’t hurt you to pick it up so why not do it
@@DaunosExotics we did pick it up (and left it on their doorstep) once in a while, but 1) they were probably not the only one leaving dog droppings, I singled them out because I saw them doing it all the time and 2) I don't think it's fair to me to pick up after the rest of the neighborhood's dogs, when it should be their personal responsibility. Especially if I'm not being compensated in any sort of way, other than not living next to tons of poo, which should be a given anyway.
You should NEVER take a bearded dragon outside without a leash. A few people in my area did that and a bird flew over and dragon was gone. Never found.

Use a rocky sand. Beardies, assuming you have Pogona Vitticeps, are native to the inland region of Australia, i.e. the Bush. While normal sandbox sand CAN cause impaction, rocky sand likely won't. Plus, they sometimes eat rocks to help digest, so don't freak out yours just starts eating the rocks.
