I love that Drew showed the failed attempt of the succulents. I hate when people try to make the project look easy and perfect when it's not in any way. I appreciate the honesty not just the projects that work. That's why I love Drew.
@@nl9278 Well, he probably meant that it was a fail for him. Even if he doesn't recommend it, it doesn't mean that you shouldn't try it for yourself anyway. It's good that he shared it because then we can learn from his mistake as well... I frankly hold nothing against him.
I know that this is old but I'd also like to add that those succulents are definitely more likely to get root bound too if anyone's thinking about doing this DIY. That's especially when you take into consideration the size of the "planter" and also the depth of the soil it's given to grow in. Not to mention how if you water too much it can soak into the newspaper more if the protective measures aren't taken in order to prevent this. This accumulation of water can lead to root rot as well; or just more pests.
pasfio Could you start new succulents in these little pots? That’s what I would try if I was going to use real plants. Also, I’m thinking I will just go the fake plant route. I love creating paper plants. I don’t mind faux plants; I just don’t like fake plants when they try to look real. I would add a thin layer of paper clay to the outside too. I would like the texture better I think. The other change I would make is two magnets instead of one. One on each of the upper back corners would probably prevent the sagging.
@@rtd1791 using fake plants would definitely be fine since they're fake ^^ and I think that it depends on the type and general size of the succulent you'd be using !! And definitely do the added magnets for extra safrty. And adding anything like paper clay is fine as long as it won't interfere with the plant if you get a real plant (like on the outside of the pot ) ^^
my fav thing about your channel is that you can actually see your past DIYs scattered in your home and it's not just something you do for content and then just dispose of!!
First of all, you’re adorable....Secondly, you’re a GENIUS with the hidden knot on the first DIY!!!! I saved this video JUST to have it on hand for the next DIY I do that needs that idea!
Love that you're recreating DIYs frim TicToc, Drew! I made similar magnet planters, but i used wine corks. Just drill a hole in the top of the cork, add soil and a small succulent and glue a magnet to the side of the cork. Water with an eye dropper. I've given them as gifts and ppl love them! 💜
Drew, I really appreciate that you stop to show & list your supplies when doing a project. It’s really helpful for us peeps who are going to recreate and follow along. Thank you
Yep, as asked, I’m voting for another one of these. I don’t think I’d get on TikTok, so your channel’s the only place I’d see these projects. You make the instructions and tuition seem really easy and relaxed. With this one, I enjoyed you showing us the fails-the leaning succulent, and the weird green gold paint. Thanks for a great vid, Drew. Much appreciated. Btw, the notification for this your latest ep, came up yesterday as ‘private Video’ so I was pleased to see the algorithm had fixed its hiccups so we could watch it! Not complaining, just thought you should know. I in Australia, and I’m not sure whether the message was just for us Aussies. So from Queensland...kudos and thanks
I'm def doing allll of these! My mentee is in love with DIY too and doing your projects together has made us so much closer and given us something to look forward too. It's neat because when we DIY together she opens us more and I've been able to help her so much so I'm excited to have more things to bond over. thank you!
You are awesome drew I only just stumbled upon your channel and I subbed after the first video you are very talented I love how you put your space together its beautiful
Nice wee planters there. Probably could do with strengthening (several more layers). It's a great way to germinate seeds. My daughter came home from school one day with 5 sprouted sunflower seeds. We had to keep them on the windowsill for a few weeks and then it was a matter of planting the paper directly into the soil. It helps the roots establish as it breaks down. We had 5 giant sunflowers in our garden a few weeks later and when they died off, our garden was swarmed with birds to feed on the seed heads. It was great. Must do it again. Love the video Drew. Thanks for sharing.
Black string bindings over the rope, that was a great idea! The concrete base project gave me another idea on what to do with the pieces of long driftwood I've been saving for years, (the smaller pieces go into terrariums and planters).
Yes, love this type of video, it's great to see not only if the project even works, but I love seeing you add your own flair to it (the rope binding on the first project was a gorgeous little addition)
I'm obsessed with everything! I love the idea of the succulent magnets. Maybe using a cardboard egg crate would be more sturdy? Beautiful work, as always!
The mini succulent decor is so cute! The planters the succulents come in can be cut down to size and used as a sturdier alternative to newspaper. You can also glue newspaper to the planters to get the original look. 😊
I like the way when you were painting those tiny planters without gloves.. 😊As people tend to use while doing diys.. And it isnt disgusting at all it is treat to watch those lovely DIYS
I love your minimalist aesthetic. A lot of channels that have new projects start with all new materials. I like how you get use out of the materials you already own, like the stain and concrete. I like that you stay consistent to the look you like and that is easy to reproduce. If you want to make fridge magnets in the future hardware stores have rolls of magnetic strips that have double face tape and you can cut it to size.
Firstly, I adore the stain color 😍 gorgeous. Secondly, I really liked the twist you put on the tray for sure but what stood out more was how kindly you explain your taste opposed to the 'Farmhouse' one. I've seen to many other's that are from LA or Cali ( No offense) who are more into the RH vibe etc just trash on other's. You're so classy and sweet! As a mom your mother has to be extremely proud of you not just for your success but for the sweet man you turned into 🤗
for the succulents, I think a sliightly bigger ice tray to fit about the double of the layers you did will make the little "vases" more sturdy and stable :D
This video was sooooooo much fun. I’ve wanted to diy a hanging bedside swing table like this. The one I found had holes drilled in it and it was hung from the ceiling. It looked stunning next to the bed with books on it and plant. Great job on this one, love your channel 🐝 Jojo
😍 I’m so doing some of these, I really like the tray I think I’m going to get a bohemian style stencil and stencil a boarder around the tray inside! Thank you Drew! Happy Valentines Day!
You always go the extra step to make things look really professional. Most DIYers wouldve just hot glued that rope for the hanging shelf for example, i love that about you!!
Hi, I loved this video, the branch project and the white pot are my favourites. I have kept a round fish tank stored for a long time and thanks to you I will use it. Thank you for giving us great ideas. A big hug.
at 12:35 "I went out into the yard and found this one: which is AMAZING & PERFECT!! " I love that. so matter-of-fact. That statement kind of reminds me of Juno Birch the stunning queeen.
Drew, watching your videos makes me happy. You are authentic and full of creativity. Even before you started on the succulent magnet projects, I was turned off by the idea. I think succulents are better in pots, shells, crystals. A magnet on a fridge sound depressing. I need to try some of your ideas. Thank you for sharing with us. Sending you light and love. ❤️
Drew, darlin'. . I just gotta say. You're frickin FABULOUS. I love watching ur videos on RUclips. Im fairly new to ur channel but im officially addicted to YOU! Home made midge podge is 2 parts glue to one part water. Some even use 3 parts glue. I think that would have made your containers stronger. I love the idea. I have cactus seeds I am going to use with these. They would also be very cute wedding favors! ❤
Drew I really love your channel and today you gained my respect even more. Nobody accepts their mistakes/failures these days and you just did it with the succulent planters DIY. Nice 👍🏼 😊
Beautiful stuff,!! a quick tip whenever you are working with cording or rope, if you dont want it to fray, just some pva white glue or modge podge helps to prevent it, giving a great finish.
First off, your shirt looks so comfy and it looks great on you. Secondly, thank you so much for showing us your looping skills. You looped it repeatedly then pulled the excess when needed. Why haven't I ever thought of that? Mmmm

foreverandalwaysiam me too!!! I really appreciate seeing honesty. Not everything needs to look contrived and perfect 100% of the time! ❤️

So fun!! The hanging tray-shelf is *amazing* - I love how you put your own spin on it!!❤️
I agree!
Thanks Nanci! ❤️
Would possibly add a few adhesive velcro tabs to back of shelf for just a little added strength and stability.
Agreed, the succulent one was a bit naff but I loved everything else, especially the pearl planter. Love you, Drew. xxx

The planter was actually my favorite so I'm so glad you added it! I'm going to add the black speckles because that's what made it go from ok to YES!

I love the speckled effect on the third DIY
I really love the binding on the hanging shelf. Gives a really nice, finished touch!
The tree branch project is aesthetic and minimalist! so cute!
Wowww.... this video is sooo aesthetically pleasing!

Super cute diys ! Especially loving the vase & jewelry branch holder !

The hanging shelve & planter are my faves! Cute idea with the pearls 🙂
happy valentines lone fox luv yah!!!!
This was awesome!!
Great inspiration Drew !!! LOVE everything, but the painted fish bowl with the pearl dots and black paint splotched on it was the best ♥️♥️♥️

For that succulent magnet one I think folding the newspaper in would give more tension and so would bigger, flatter rectangular magnets.
Oh I love the spinkles on the fishbowl vase!!
