  • In this blues guitar lesson for beginners, we'll talk about one of my favorite, and under-used chord shapes. I call it the C7 Grip because it takes a "grip" style hand position, and in open position it makes a C7 chord.
If you're not as good at barre chords you should really consider using this one more as it's the opposite type of hand position and is a LOT easier for many people.
As always, if you dig this video and want more, I'd encourage you to check out my website at bluesguitarunle.... And if this video is a little challenging for you, then my Beginning Blues Guitar course at bluesguitarunle... would likely be perfect for you.

I think the normal A7 shape bar is tricky to jump into fast enough so this seems like a great alternative.

Do you need to mute the 6th string when playing a C7th chord on the 1st 3 frets?

Quick question. Do you have any recommendations for a beginner song with this chord shape? Looking to practice it. Thanks for the video! Didn't know you could move it up and down like that.

This is a bit late but 'You do something to me' by Paul Weller, not a blues song but has a couple 7th chords and uses this c7 shape on a part up the neck.
