I love Just Trying Stuff™️
Me too
Try with the dinosaur hotcakes 🥞
Yes
@@emilyharpist2 Same-Less Pluuug!
Keep doing what you do!! Very cool to see the versatility of a classical instrument like the harp!!!
The whole idea of a musician (Emily) playing live with an effects DJ (Russ) is a concept which needs to be expanded. There's a lot of potential there. We think of multiple musicians playing individual parts and working with each other. But the idea of one musician modifying another musician's product is really cool. And I would think it requires a lot of trust as well.
I worked on a piece recently where we did this! Basically had one person holding down chords on a piano to lift the dampers while I was on the inside brushing the strings with a paintbrush and then that went through a bunch of pedals that were being controlled live by a third person
I've been thinking the same thing since finding their channel, it's such a great way to add so much depth and complexity to add effects in a live setting. Wouldn't even look that out of place either, countless bands have had someone standing off to the side near a bunch of electronics so you just have to put pedal boards in the place of some synths or turntables (or even combine the roles, I'd imagine lots of keyboard players are great enough at multitasking to work a few knob twists into a part) to add this to the instrumentation.
I think Jeremy Michael Ward used to do that with the Mars Volta. He left this world too soon
@@tezeta3725 wow, just like when Manny has to play a piano on the inside with some spoons in Black Books /hj
Emily’s gonna singlehandedly bring about the experimental harp music revolution
Genuinely I had 0 interest in harp before, I found her channel, it got me to try a harp, and now I’m sitting here vibrating with anticipation for the day I can afford a nice Serrena like hers
Gonna? What do you mean, gonna? She HAS! She’s done it!!
well, technically, she's using two hands.
and Russ is using his hands too.
Emily & Russ are Quadruple Handedly leading the experimental harp movement
Zeena Parkins would like a word.
Emily's channel is the most wholesome thing on the internet. I hope there are enough harp teachers out there for a whole new generation of harpists.
Agreed!
Emily's gotta be the absolute best guest you could've had for the 'just try stuff' series. Maybe next time Nick and Addison can pay her a 20+ hour drive visit 😊
JHS Road Show
hell yeah
Emily makes me wish my guitar had at least 30 more strings
And 21-24 less frets
look for a harp guitar then
lol, same
Take a look/listen at that harp-guitar ;o)

Every time I hear a jam on this channel I’m consistently stunned at how jaw-droppingly fantastic the drums sound. Genuinely better mixing on this channel than 90% of actual albums I’ve heard.
Thank you!
Loved this show! Thanks to Emily and Russ for making the drive.
Emily is legit one of those most likable people I've come across... perfect colalb for you guys :)
I'd love to see more of the JHS crew dancing to their own tracks! Its awesome to see awesome people jamming to awesome music 🤘
Summer Seltzer is the summer bop of the autumn. Great things happen when you Just Try Stuff.
Love the audience applause for Russ 👏👏👏👏what a star!
Just needed more of Emily’s sweet “falling over backwards” dance moves! Great job too all.
I envy how creative Nick is down to his soul
same, honestly. i get so mad at him.
Beautiful track - great to see it all coming together too🤩
Emily is incredible! Easily one of my favorite JHS Show episodes. So good!
Agreed
That was so much fun, more Emily and JHS team fun plz…even if its remote collabs plz
Really good episode. A lot of fun and energy in the air.
Wow! Incredible song and just awesome playing! As someone who listens to and plays mostly hard-rock, I clicked on this video because it looked interesting, and it was one of the most enjoyable videos I've ever seen. Emily was amazing and the harp was so cool! Great job everyone!
Just a really enjoyable episode y’all. Thank you! Also the rotary phone percussive ear candy was a cool idea (in addition to everything else of course)
Great work on this project top 5 episodes for me,so far
Love Emily and Russ! Hope to see more guests on in the future
Are y’all going for like the best produced video award on RUclips or something?
Seriously, these videos make my day every time. Thank you. Keep tryin’ stuff!
yes
I can't describe how amazingly happy and hopeful this track made me feel. It is just what I needed today. Thank you so much!
Now this is epic
Now this is podracing
Hello there
This is straight chillhop. Love it. Great Record Time selection! One of my favorite from Thom.
What a masterclass in creativity! Just amazing.
Emily and Russ are brilliant guests, hope you make plenty more content together.
Not to talk about their stamina - from 20 hour drives to 7 hours livestreams!
Two comments -
1) That “why did I choose the guitar, I wish I would know how to play other instruments” comment would have been more believable if we didn’t have years’ worth of ample evidence that most of the JHS crew and Nick in particular are wizards and witches that can play all instruments AT WILL.
2) The fact that you even incorporated Master Joshua, M.A. playing his main instrument (a laptop for writing dissertations) made me deliriously happy.
To summarize, I don’t know what’s in the water in KC, but I WANT SOME!
thank you for recognizing me and my laptop! 😭
seriously though, it was such a great time and i'm convinced nick is a music demon
Guys!
That track is wonderful! Looks like "just trying stuff" can create great beauty.
Great job, all. 🤙🤓
Emily is my favorite. I’m so glad you had her on!
Absolutely brilliant !!!
I really enjoyed this. Any time Emily is on is great because she’s always open to ideas. Fun show guys n gals.
Just awesome! Loved it!
I will play harmonica over this.
I have a few.
Also Emily!!! Always great to see her.
Emily is the shit she's a super chill individual met her when we were both playing a wedding gig! Love that they drove out and callable with yall they deserve the exposure 🙌
The editing (and humor) on JHS videos is always amazing and fun to watch.
This little docu-episode in particular is a jewel.
Had such a good time watching it!
...also, nice tune summer seltzer! :)
Always a treat. It was great to see Emily again. Sick jam too!
Really dig the song you guys! Everything Nick comes up with is my jam. Loving the collabs between JHS and Emily and Russ!
Em and the pedal dj are the most unique musical duo
I Love Emily Harpkins and the whole Team.
Loved "Summer Seltzer!" Especially this little treat here, 19:24 particularly because of Emily's harp transition and partly because of the bassline that plays through this bit.
Cinnamon Gravel should do an album! lol
Emily is always a treat!❤
Love this. Best video ever!
Emily you are an amazing dancer and harpist!!! You always make me smile!
I highly suggest going to watch Emily's guitar unboxing video. She does far better than most of us would do with a harp.
I loved everything about this!
This was great. All the thumbs up.
Awesome!!!! Cinnamon Gravel needs a whole album...
This video makes my heart so happy. Thank you guys. I’m laughing and crying. 😂
The drum sound is absolutely fantastic in this!
This was awesome!!!
Y’all I absolutely loved this. You got together and made real Good music.
I loved how the guitar part and the harp was kinda like a call and response. Add the way the bass came up underneath complemented the whole melody.
Maybe I should take the concept of Just Try Stuff and apply it to writing songs.
Bravo, y’all. Bravo! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
that's what we were going for! thanks :)
That was fantastic.
That was awesome!!!
I’m here for the good sounds.
Beginning to think Russ actually saved JHS!
Russ is a mad pedal scientist
two-for-one
Kids: can we buy Cinnamon Toast Crunch?
Mom: we have Cinnamon Gravel at home
HYPED!!!
:)
It's always a treat to see The Emilynator Harpkins do her thing
OMFG! 15 mins has the raddest string progression ( total goonies vibes)
Super loved it 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Great episode 👏 👌
Loved this. Emily and JHS are the two channels that got me into pedals.
nice!
100% worth the wait
I love how collaborative y'all are. Today my mantra will be, 'just try stuff'😉
💪🏼
Emily is so good and her channel is great!
_Very_ cool. The track was really enjoyable. I could totally vibe out to that.
Emily is the coolest.
You have all been put in the shade by Emily.
This song has no right being this good
Great fun. Thanks 🎶
What a doll, that Emily. So easy going and so talented. There are so many instruments that can benefit from guitar pedals....like ALL OF THEM.
I am glad these humans exist.
Effing marvelous!!
This song made me cry. It was Soo beautiful and video was Soo joyful. Amazing people. I haven't cried in years. Crazy....
You need for Emily & Russ to each design pedals for you.
Wooooohooooo! Collab of the century!!! 🥳🥳
So good. JHS show never disappoints!
dear editor: you nailed it
Good to see Emily's channel grow and being recognized by others
Emily Harpist and Russ, the Pedal DJ, are the human equivalent of Josh's slide tone. Always killer, always enjoyable. Keep Mommin', Russ!
Great episode. I really REALLY love that bass line Nick was playing (feels weird to write that).
So many effects it just sounds like keyboard now. MOMMIN'🫃🏻
Yo this is pretty cool. It's not stuff I'm gonna be able to try but it was nice to get a break from guitar that I didn't know I needed
Excellent!
This was epic !
Wow! I am blessed by this episode! Lady and Gentle men? You just enriched my life. That was sooo good, I'm gonna go now and just be quiet for a while, find Emily's Channel and Sub, make bells ring listen, learn, chill and Just Try Stuff. Oh... thanks Russ! Awesome y'all! Sammy
💪🏼
That track was fire! Reminds me of Washed Out.
Emily Harpist is a national treasure!!! 🥹💝 Thanks for this awesome collab. Just subbed to JHS! ✨
SilkBird! i recognize you from emily's discord. welcome! your contribution to the contest the other day was so stellar.
@@jhspedals omg thank you so much!!!! *blushing* I’m not used to people knowing who I am because I’m just starting out 🤣 but if all goes well I’ll release my first single by the end of the year 🤞
@@silkbirdmusic that's so awesome! email me - bocanegra@jhspedals.com
DJ corner with Russ bloody killed me. Amazing. Smashed it again, gang.
Brilliant!!!
We have more tools than ever before to create a bazillion different sounds and yet too many seek out to sound exactly like someone else. Just try stuff! Those that stand out for a reason-they’ve created their own sounds.
great session =)
Very good indeed!
Your song gave me goosebumps !
Cinnamon Gravel: Ride or Die! Dope song, cool peeps. Dig that sweet bass line, too!
Now I understand why everyone just keeps harping on about her.
I need to have this tune in my car. It's a perfect mellow jello for driving.
Wonderfully entertaining 👍
I learn stuff every time I watch one of these... Quality!!
that harp is mesmerizing. I could definitely add this to my sleep app.
nice jam, interesting soundscapes😊
That one part. Man that was good.
Cool vibe…. Digging the tune.
