This video was made because of comments asking about RGB capabilities on Gateron Yellows. As per the description, keep in mind that this doesn't just apply to Gateron Yellows but pretty much any keyswitch that's built in these variations. I really appreciate you making this video. When I tried understanding this topic it took me a few hours of research to understand the differences between rgb compatibility. In the end the most univeraal switches are smd led compatible like the boba housings. Meanwhile kailh polias are also rgb compatible but don't accomodate the top mounted rgb leds. And then there are switches that allow for leds to be soldered through the switch and sit on top of the switch. So pcbs with no rgb leds and 5 pin switch mounts are the most compatible (or you can get the pcbs with leds integrated into to board) It's easy to know once you know but there's plenty of nuance to think about when it comes to switch and pcb choices. key layouts or stabilizer types are yet another layer of complication on top tldr: very informative thank you
This video honestly came in so clutch - I was debating between the full milky and clear top white bottom and NO ONE ELSE made a video like this. Now that I see how much light can shine through the full milky yellows I'll definitely go with those. Thanks so much!
Its been a bit since you made this comment so I would assume you got the switches and want to confirm before I buy. Are the full milky good for rgb in person?
@@bricenclark8934 it's ok - i would say it blocks out the RGB a bit so that only about 75% of the full brightness can shine through - if that's gonna bother you, I'd go with the transparent top and white bottom
Start of the video wasn't much promising because you later showed Gatherons, so initially I thought it was kind of misleading. But for those with little more patience you will see how precious this video really is, because it shows exactly what its suppose to. Amazing comparison, helped me a lot! Based on this video I made a decision and bought one set of Gatheron switches! Cheers! 🍻
I usually try to give a little background and somewhat personally connect with my audience whether it be a small story or give an overview as to why the video is created, because that’s just sort of how I make videos. I know some people are here to just skip to the point and sometimes are turned off by the fact that the video is about 10 minutes long for some thing that can be easily explained in about two minutes, but that’s why I make the timestamps as well. Thanks for bearing with me, and I hope you enjoy your switches
This is great, I'd love to see this with south facing RGB. Even though I know it's not meant for RGB to go through most of these, I'd still love to see it.
Exactly what I needed ty for clarifying that the milky yellows (top and bottom milky) can actually shine through. I bought some a didn’t think about the rgb.
Thanks so much, I'm trying to put together my first build and wanted to use Gateron yellows since my friend also used them in his first build. This video helped a lot
Thumbs up for this video, i was wondering whether to buy clear top milky bottom or full milky., now i see that they both let enough RBG through, full milky with deeper sound is what i will get. By the way, can u do sound test for the switches you got one the plastic plate?
i noticed u had to reverse the top of the switch for the full milky one, to allow the RGB to pass. is it hard to do manually? i don't have a switch opener. nice video!
@@toufusoup isn't the top of the full milky one reversed? the text gateron is, didn't u reverse the top to allign the hole and allow the rgb to pass through, so it could fit the North facing lights? Edit: my bad, just realized how the full milky one is built, i was used to the Yellow with black bottom, which has the text straight when in the pcb. Nice video again, really useful and sorry for the confusion! ^^

I literally needed this EXACT video man, thank you I'm so glad I found you
Oh my gosh. I've been looking for someone to do a LED compatibility video for so long. I'm so happy I found this video. THANK YOU
this really came in clutch. thanks a lot!

Do they sound good too? Im thinking of purchasing them. Tho Ive ordered 1switch of every switches that I like to personally test them

There are SOME keycaps that have shine-they on the bottom font. I’d know because I wanted them lol

Finally found a video for what i want
Thanks bro
Thank you for the video, its really informative
What keyboard do you use ?
And what you prefer gateron yellow pro 3.0 or gateron yellow milky pro
got v3 pro yellows, thinking about trying out milky yellows, this helps a lot.

I’m pretty sure I did a Gat. Yellow sound test in the past
@@toufusoup okay, i’ll take a look later, good to see genshin impact content as well, XD
Thanks for this, very interesting :)
Thank you so much for this man. I almost bought the black bottom clear top for my rk84 haha
I find the switches interesting in that I have a black bottom gateron yellow that has a rgb vent like the white bottoms that you have.
Thank you so much cuz THIS is the video I’m looking for.
very helpful thanks man
thank you so much this video so help me GL
Very helpful video.....i mean very helpful. thank you
Thank you very much! This video really helped me :)
hi! do you have gateron milky pro switches? and if you do, do they cause interference with north facing leds using cherry profile keycaps?
I don’t have any, sorry mate. Though I’m sure someone on RUclips has tested Gat. Switch Pro interference in a review or smth
i do have gat yellow milky pro and they interference with cherry profile, even gat oil king still have interference in ENTER row
i noticed u had to reverse the top of the switch for the full milky one, to allow the RGB to pass.
is it hard to do manually?
i don't have a switch opener.
nice video!
I'm not sure what you mean about "reverse the top of the switch" all the switches are facing the same way
@@toufusoup isn't the top of the full milky one reversed?

Gosh I shouldve watched this video before buying switches, i got the black bottom variant and the rgb hardly passes through. :(
Sorry to hear that mate :(
usefull tnq
full milk looks BRIGHTER without the caps lmao
👏👏🔥🔥
Tnx
Thx a lot I really need help
What a horrible test. Everything is clinking, impossible to see shit. What IS possible to see was kind of obvious without the test.
An excellent video dude thank you
