@@lightcpkhfm2305 Maleficent only sped up the process, her not finding him only leaves him alone with Ansem.
Actually, I could be wrong. It might be even worse for Riku as he might have to deal with Heartless without adequate weapons, leaving him vulnerable to Ansem’s “gifts.”
By the time Sora reaches Hollow Bastion, Riku would be gone and only Ansem remains.
