There are so many great little bands on the streets of NOLA. Smoking Time's a fave!! I am looking forward to our moving back next year. I will never, ever be bored, or at a loss for something cool to listen to.
I agree--the young lady is a wonderful dancer. She has a fun, adorable persona that is present in all her videos. Also, the trombone player is so, so very strong.
The song is "Bill Bailey Won't You Please Come Home", words and music by Hughie Cannon in 1902. And I thought Pearl Bailey was singing it about her husband! LOL (Pearl's husband was the actually the great Jazz drummer, Louie Bellson). The world renowned Ed Polcer, sitting in on cornet, is also the father of NOLA's own Ben Polcer. The great dancers are Chance Bushman and Laura Manning.
