People already thinking Honda sponsors our channels... LOL. Let's get together and film a video (or livestream?) where we compare and contrast our thoughts after we get to ride these a bit more.
I'm really looking forward to the content you guys produce around the Transalp. I can really see myself sending a Transalp down the NorCal BDR in 2024. Help inform my decision whether I should replace my CB500x (rally raid)
I've been riding a CB500X for a while and just bought a Honda Transalp. I didn't even know I wanted it. I went to the dealer to see if they had a Africa twin that I like to look at but they're too big for me. A transalp was sitting there.. 20 minutes later it was mine.. probably one of the most expensive impulse purchases I made on the spot. But I love it.. I have no regrets.
@@leeinwis if you can get your hands on a CB500x it's definitely a good bike. I would not have upgraded until I found out supply is very limited. If you're buying new definitely go for the transalp if you have the option.
@@MinhVu-in9iz mostly it was a limited opportunity. But it also had all the electronic safety features I wanted and twice the horsepower of the CB500x. But the CB500 is still a pretty sweet bike. I'm just a little bit taller than you and I don't think you're going to have a problem with it
Congratulations man! New bike day is the best! I’m definitely looking forward to content on the Transalp! Also, congrats to Grace on hers. I’d be interested to see a comparison video of what you guys choose as far as accessories for your bikes.
Picked up mine 3 days ago, 150 miles so far, 60/40 road to dirt. It's between 40 and 50 degrees f here and chores get in the way but I couldn't be happier. It's not perfect for everyone but it checked all the boxes for me. The balance is forgiving to old guys like me and it's easy to pick up, easy on the back.😂😂
I literally just watched Big Rock Moto saying the exact same thing. Bought one to make a ton of videos for us subscribers. So its a race then between you and Big Rock Moto as to who pumps out more/better content the earliest :)
I'm so jealous! Mine was supposed to be in this week according to the dealer but I guess it just now shipped out. All i can hope for now is that comes with the Metzlers. 🤞
Looks I've can see how you like the bike vs. Ian at Big Rock now. Curious why the transalp over the 800DE. I'd like to see a real world comparison of those two.
The exhaust kills the honda for me. It's so low. By the time you add a skid plate your ground clearance will suffer tremendously. The tenere is the one for offroad if I had to choose.
There are a couple real good comparisons on the tube. I actually went to look at the 800 yesterday. Too tall. Sad, because I was ready to pull the trigger.
What a beautiful bike! My first big boy bike was the 600cc Transalp from year -95. Learnt how to ride for two months and went on 2000 mile roadtrip with it! I'm sure you'll love yours!
can’t wait for the content lol i found your channel early this year from your tenere videos because that’s what i’ve been looking a buying until this trans alp was confirmed for the states
Congratulations to you and Grace on the purchase of your new Transalps! I placed a deposit on my bike on September 21 but as the weather here in Muskoka Canada gets crappy very soon I've told them to bounce my delivery down the list till next spring or summer. I've watched a ton of Transalp conent and reviews from RUclipsrs in Europe and I believe you're in for a serious love affair with your new bike. So far the RUclips content from Europe has really been lacking in the off road area. They seem to limit themselves to a very short distance of riding on "green lanes" which really does not test their skills or the bike very well. I look forward to seeing your content on the new Transalp as I am sure you will give it a thorough shakedown both on and off road with your usual fearlessness, insight and good humour. 🙂 Enjoy! BG
Congrats on the TA, I will be watching for you around the neighborhood. I have a deposit on one at I5 Sports in Albany, supposed to be in end of December!! Oh and I did subscribe to Grace's channel.
My local dealer got one of these and my first impression was that it is a road bike. Off-road didn't really enter my mind when I saw it. Biggest flaw for me was the lack of cruise control.
Congratulations, my dude! I kind of wish they would've taken a bit more risk with the styling. It really does look like a CB 500x version 2.0 - Then again, Japanese reliability vs. European styling & pricing... pick one.
Congrats on the new bikes. I have a 2 year old and I can only hope to do the same when she’s of age. She’s too little now but is already a motorcycle enthusiast and future subscriber 😂.
Congrats on the new Wee Strom made by Honda!! This bike had it all in Europe.. two up long trips off road you name it I’m glad they brought it in the States!!
Congrats on the new bike, should make for some good content. The Transalp just doesn't make sense as an ADV bike and is why I chose the 800DE. I'm interested to see how long the exhaust last off road...super soft suspension, low exhaust, and heavy rider doesn't make for a lot of ground clearance. The Transalp is closer to a sport touring bike.
Congrats on the new Transalp! Anxiously waiting for content about it. I'd also love to see your take on the new Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 when it debuts this November. Any chance of that? Take care!
It's always a little funny when you guys on the Tube try to build suspense in the beginning of the video by promising to "reveal" something that you already put in the thumbnail... 😂😂 Congrats to both of you!! Many happy miles!
Man it is wild to see you initially poo-pooing the TransAlp when it was announced, to almost BUYING TWO OF THEM! I hope y'all have a great time in those things. Trying to convince a few friends it's a decent platform for an entry level ADV bike.
Congrats to you both on double new bike day! I'm excited to see your content on this bike, I have a DRZ400S and I have a gotten into more street riding and I have a long commute I want to buy one!
New subs here and congratulations to both of you on your new bikes! Thank you for your videos and this is how I came across to getting introduced with the Honda Transalp 750. It is my top pick right now and I hope to bring one home down the road. Safe adventures and as always, "take the less traveled path." Howdy, from the Nevada Desert!🤠
Congrats mate. What concerns me is the pipe location. I don't ride hard and would ding that up first ride, due to most trails in Australia aren't maintained. Honestly i don't know how the fire crews get through at lot of it.
Really interested in what this bike can actually do and what it should be used for. I’m leaning towards more street use like the cb500. Hope it works out to be better.
This bike is intriguing to say the least. I'm offloading a KTM 890 and looking for my next ride. As a shorter rider, would love to hear some thoughts on this bike for the 'shorter-inseam' community.
The bike is tall to get your leg over and feels much heavier than the 500x. The power delivery is great but it has a very annoying dronning sound at highway speeds.
I wanted one when I heard about it, but wasn't sure when they were gonna hit the stores in the U.S., so being somewhat impatient, I bought a V-Strom 800DE which I'm very happy with, but I'm still curious about the Transalp and how it will stack up to its competitors. I've watched some European Transalp vids, and everyone seems to sing its praises for the most part, but I'm looking forward to some home-grown vids too. I actually got to sit on one a few days ago while looking for a bike for my wife, was very surprised to see they were here already. Wasn't expecting them to be at dealerships until next year.
I test road the Transalp yesterday, loved the motor, hated the rock hard seat and stiff suspension. I liked the different modes, didn’t feel much difference between sport and standard mode. Freeway performance was better than expected, low speed agility was surprisingly welcome, good job by Honda with central mass distribution, low center of gravity much better than Tenere. I think it has great potential as a light weight adventure bike. Enjoy.
The Transalp is certainly the bike de jour. It will be very interesting to see if the many YT journalists come to conclusions that differ from their initial impressions.
Congratulations. Hope you love it. moto junkies here will have a plethora of US based testers creating content over then next few months. Exciting times for sure.
What!? I was just about to post a comment on your last video that you need to get a transalp, and ditch the crappy tires. Great minds think alike! As do slightly handicapped minds, apparently!
Awesome bike! I'm looking into one. Would really like if we could get the red, white, and blue colorway. How that didn't make it to the U.S. I have no idea.
It changed a lot of our outlooks, mine as well, about what‘s a safer option to keep riding consistently and avoid injuries. Bigger bike = bigger injuries
Still would love to know the reason they aren’t selling it in anything other than model T colors for the US. wonder if it’s to make next years bike sell better or if it’s because they expect it to do poorly. Regardless, I look forward to your future opinions on it!
It's all marketing and sales strategy. Release the basic boring black one first as a teaser, which will get gobbled up by everyone just wanting a new Transalp. Then next year release the special "adventure edition" that comes with cruise control, tubeless tires, and better graphics. That's the same strategy Husqvarna just did with the Norden Expedition, Yamaha did with the T7 World Raid, KTM did with the 890 Rally, and Honda did with the Africa Twin Adventure Sport. It's super obnoxious for US customers because we're not getting the bike we want right out of the gate, we're getting their loss leader models first and having to wait.
@@neptunetriton I think they're likely to bolt on some of the accessories and protection parts, give it the red/white/blue livery, and call it the Transalp Napoleon
@@neptunetriton Doubt it. Look at the colorways they ran on the CB500X in The States. Of the 3 available across Europe only one was brought over here, and it was frequently the black option. The marketing approach of it is just that they can offer a different color in a year or two to refresh interest. I'd bet there isn't going to be an Adventure Sports version like there is with the Africa Twin, because they don't want to present this as a challenger to their own top tier ADV bike.
Hi there! Great work and just keep going... Can you please tell me (or maybe make a video) how would you compare this bike with your Africa twin? And is there any point of buying an old AT when there's Transalp now. Thanks 🙏 and greetings from Croatia
I live in possibly one of the best locations for riding, Monroe county Tennessee. The Cherohala Skyway is five minutes from my front door and Mecca Pike is my drive to work. Tail of the Dragon is about an hour ride and there are tons of trails to ride everywhere. But I’m going to be mostly street riding so going with the 2024 KTM Duke 390 this spring. Wanting to get my wife into riding too and we will see what she prefers, road or trail and we will either get her a Triumph Speed 400 or maybe a Honda CRF300L and CRF300LS. Either way I will have my nimble street corner rocket and perhaps a couple dual sports. After that I want a Triumph Speed Twin to cruise on. But the TransAlp is definitely a cool bike and I think a lot of the bigger ADV bike riders will appreciate how much easier it is to handle on dirt. Those huge heavy ADV bikes just aren’t my style and I’d rather dual sport on trails and Sport Tour on long road trips. TransAlp could be a nice mid point between those two though. I suppose we shall see. Happy riding friend.
Congrats on the new bike mate don’t think you will go wrong with one of those, mate of mine has one great bit of kit I have the Karoo street tyres on my tiger and am not a fan, they are the most noisy tyre I have ever used if you are cruising at 70 mph they whine so badly. Looking to change them asap thinking of the conti attack3’s
Seems like a better choice for those of us doing some off road but want a daily rider for the most part. Like I live to tour the areas in the Rockies but I'm not a skilled Big Bear Pass freak.. So I could take death defying trails or just opt out with this bike. 😂 Banf and Jasper up in Canada is more my speed.. Sticking to main roads more so.
I think I would still prefer the Africa Twin for the higher torque and cruise control. I’m looking at the standard AT. I just sold my Adventure Sports ES DCT because it was too wide at the tank for aggressive off road riding. It did it well, just forces you to assume a sumo ride position and it tired me out faster. I also don’t know if I would ever want this type of bike without DCT? I got hooked and I love it. Never thought I’d say that. I guess if it was offered on this bike it would be too expensive and push customers to the standard twin. I LOVE the power band of the 1100. 100 ish hp isn’t the story it’s the 77lb ft of torque so low in the rpm range that really makes the bike so nice to ride.
The man said "if Honda releases a lighter weight Africa Twin, I'm buying it immediately".... and here we are 😅👌 (if only you could get it in those HRC colors 😖)
So I've been riding a Triumph Bonneville T120 for the last four years. I absolutely love the modern retro old school vibe, as well as the smooth torque and low end power. But living here in New England riding a naked bike makes for a shirt riding season. An ADV style bike with some wind protection is next on my bike list. I'm very interested in your Transalp review. At first glance I see the need for a bash plate to protect the underside and some more aggressive looking tires too. It's a shame Honda didn't go with tubeless tires with offset spokes. I'd also like to see an adjustable windscreen and heated grips.
I think the Transalp is more than enough ADV at your skill level. May you have many years of riding bliss. A much better ADV than the Africa Twin. Maybe we will see some maintenance video, since the Honda is a fairly easy DIY maintenance bike. Don't be disappointed on the trails, the Transalp needs an experienced hand to get it through places you get your 450 through. It will be a learning experience. You'll love its easy gravel road and tarmac handling. Deep sand and mud, not so much. You'll need aggressive dual sport tires to get anywhere off road. You'll hate the gravel mode in mud and sand and on loose rocks. Once you get the Transalp figured out, you can move on to a more capable off road 800DE.

Hi there! Great work and just keep going... Can you please tell me (or maybe make a video) how would you compare this bike with your Africa twin? And is there any point of buying an old AT when there's Transalp now. Thanks 🙏 and greetings from Croatia
I mean it's no KLR 650 but I am very curious. I hope you'll do one of the classic motocamping videos with it. I personally just really enjoy them.
What is?! It might have a sixth gear though.....
There are 6 of them at dealerships within 83 miles of me. (Northern Kalifornia)
Sweet! Congratulations to you both! Can’t wait to see new Dork content on this nice bike! Looks like it’s Chewy approved too! 😂
He always weighs in on my purchases.
New bike day! New bike day! My favorite day of any year.
Congrats on the new bike mate don’t think you will go wrong with one of those, mate of mine has one great bit of kit
I have the Karoo street tyres on my tiger and am not a fan, they are the most noisy tyre I have ever used if you are cruising at 70 mph they whine so badly.
Looking to change them asap thinking of the conti attack3’s
Congrats on the new bike. I’m on the fence between a Transalp and a Suzuki vstrom 800de or maybe a vstrom 650xt adventure. What do you think?
Seems like a better choice for those of us doing some off road but want a daily rider for the most part. Like I live to tour the areas in the Rockies but I'm not a skilled Big Bear Pass freak.. So I could take death defying trails or just opt out with this bike. 😂 Banf and Jasper up in Canada is more my speed.. Sticking to main roads more so.
Can’t wait to see what you think about it. I’m between this, a CB500X, or an ibex800.
I'm at 61k miles on my 500, so reliability has been flawless.
I’m subscribed. You are most excellent
Saw this Saturday!
His and Hers Transalps.
Perfect pro nouns…
Congratulations!!!! Awesome!!!
Congrats and thank you for sharing this day with us. You plan on a ride with Ian at Big Rock Moto?
Hard to get down to him this time of year but hopefully soon.
