This is encouraging. I fell into Salesforce as an administrative assistant at my current company. I just became the go to person for salesforce. Creating training videos for the org, working with our SF admin to make things more efficient, creating reports and dashboards, etc. I recently transitioned to an Operations Role that was created for me and just literally got my admin certification today (yay). So now I'm hopeful to land an actual salesforce admin role, but was worried that I wouldn't be considered because I haven't actually had a SF role.
I’m trying to break into the salesforce admin role. Currently training for it now. I’ve been looking at job listings out of curiosity and a ton of the jobs I see listed as an admin have 75-80% of tasks that a developer would do. I’m like 😮
The only dev work that an admin should be familiar with is SOQL. I would steer clear of those jobs because they are looking to hire a dev for an admin salary.
Amazing video as always. I'm an "Accidental admin" and loving how the platform works and resolving issues. But I have found I'm struggling with the apex code errors and API issues and not sure if there technical something an admin should do but loving learning new things.
Less opportunity but I am ready for Salesforce administrator and application support role... Right now market not good so whatever offer comes I will join..
I’m going to take the admin cert soon and with all I’ve heard about the Salesforce market right now I’m thinking about getting a 3rd cert before applying. Should I go for advanced admin, app builder, or something else to give myself an edge in the current job market? I’m currently a system administrator outside of the Salesforce ecosystem and I want to make sure I prepare myself as much as I can before applying for jobs
Thank you. i want to take the course online, i don't have tech background so is that works for me. is sales force is related to coding? please answer me
You’re welcome! Some roles in Salesforce are. Typically admins do not code. That’s usually left for the Salesforce developers. You may be asked to test out some code through different scenarios but that would be testing for issues and errors from the users standpoint. But I will say that being an admin and learning those skills have helped me understand code better
Hey, quick question i have studied for the associate cert, however can i skip the associate cert and jump to Salesforce admin cert instead? my goal is to finish as soon as possible. i am totally a newby to Salesforce. i have actually studied on udemy and took your associate course. it was great. thanks in advance
Thanks for the tips. But after passing my admin certificate, still struggling with getting a job. It’s very hard for entry level. Any advice would be helpful.
@@salesforceemily thank you I downloaded the Trailhead go application on the phone so that I could study while I’m out and about or at the gym. I’m finding that there’s limitations on the application. Am I correct like I need to be a computer for most of the tests after the studying?
100% possible, but the ease of getting a remote admin job definitely depends on a lot of different factors. These could be location of where you are and where the company is, number of certs you have, the types of certs you have, etc.
I would start applying to some admin roles and reaching out to some recruiters who can connect you with jobs. It might be slow until January, but don't give up! Congrats on the cert
Hi Emily, I know you mentioned that you would get the associates certificate and than the admin. If I plan to get the admin certificate, why would it be necessary to get the associates? Wouldn't the admin training course cover everything in the associates? Thank you.
The admin covers about 2/3rds of what is covered on the associate. The outlier is the “salesforce ecosystem” section all about trailhead, certs in general, and different salesforce provided resources. It isn’t necessary to get the associate. However, it allows you to get a win under your belt and feel confident about your knowledge of salesforce. The admin exam is difficult and I’ve seen a lot of people give up on it. So getting the associate first would help you from a mentality stand point. Additionally associate could help you move into a salesforce adjacent job before getting the admin cert where you can work hands on with salesforce and that will help you pass the admin exam.
@@salesforceemily Thanks for reply Emily, gonna have to reconsider my plan for the certification than 🙏🏻🙏🏻. Are there certain trailheads or courses for the associates certification? I didn't see it on the Salesforce certification website. Thanks again
You're welcome! The associate cert is a little bit hidden on the certification page. Here's the link: trailhead.salesforce.com/en/credentials/associate
Tried the admin exams two years ago and I failed. My system crashed and due to financial constraints and other engagement I wasn't able to get another system to try again. I didn't know about the associate certification. Would be a good place to start. If I could also get a place to volunteer as intern
Hi Emily namaste thanks for the wonderful video you have posted. I am in India but here we have lot of institutes not sure where to go . as most institutes claim that they teach but they charge very hefty money. I am on a tight budget looking for full salesforce admin course . can you guide me with any institute or person teaches also if you are teaching then do let me know Tks Nishant Pant

Most do the time Apex is a dev thing but learning it certainly doesn’t hurt! It will likely help you land a dev job later on if that’s what you want!

It is REALLY tough out there with the new admin job market. Keep connecting with people on linkedin and studying for additional certifications.
have you got the job now?
Hi! I took my admin exam in June and I failed. Should I take the associate admin exam first then retake the admin exam again??
Where are these certifications at
You take them from salesforce. Here's the link to the list of certs from salesforce trailhead.salesforce.com/en/credentials/administratoroverview/

No, it's not in the current job market. Employers really want to see certifications.
