A lot of people are asking how I landed my internship: I landed the internship by applying to entry level / internships on LinkedIn. I searched for Salesforce intern. I didn’t wanna limit myself to the word admin since a lot of companies use variations of title for the same responsibilities. My resume during that time was focused on working in the lab / health care side. Luckily the company I interned for is focused on research. So I think I had experience in regards to knowing some context of the research world. I also made sure to connect w the hiring managers and message them to show that I really wanted the job. If you’re coming from a different field, which most of us are - I think there is a higher chance of landing an interview if you apply within the same industry. Let’s say you’re from finance, many financial companies also use Salesforce that aren’t Salesforce literate. So I would highlight my relatable skills in my resume and make sure to mention those as a summary when I message the hiring managers. Don’t be afraid to apply! Specially internships. They know you aren’t experienced and if they’re looking for interns, that means they have some willingness to mentor. My previous mentor, she wasn’t a Salesforce admin but she did know the basics using Salesforce as an end user. Most of the time I learned by practicing on sandbox, automations and actions I wanted to implement. Then uploading / redoing them on production so I get the hang of using the platform.
Solid advice. What is your take in getting internships for those who already graduated from college, but are open to more internships just to build real-world skillsets (SF).
Great video, thank you! Just got my Admin certificate yesterday with 0 real job experience and now I'm on my way to finding the first Salesforce job! :)
This is awesome. Thanks for sharing your story Mikee! Salesforce has lots of opportunities for those looking to switch careers or who are just starting their careers!
THIS video! This is the BEST video about getting started with salesforce that I have found, thank you!!!!!!!! Also, congrats on getting your dream job- you worked hard for it!!
I have worked with salesforce tech consultants. Their quality and skills can vary a lot! 80% Indians, 19% White, 1% others imagine a scenario where there are - 100 Indian off shore, 100 whites, 100 other applicants 80 Indians, 19 whites, and 1 other applicant will become salesforce tech consultants. if you team get that 1 other applicant that person is going to possess the skill level of an indian 2-3 levels above him. It is insane.
I love your charisma! Experience or no experience I'd hire you too :) Happy for you girl! Love the strategic way you went about landing this awesome job
This is the issue I have with SF certifications. They are supposed to be passed by people that actually have broad experience in working with Saleforce, but... getting a job without any Certs is really hard so it is a logical loop. What is more, the deeper you go, the harder certifications get and we you start working in the system even with Certs you are not able to perform very well. I would love employers to respect Superbadges rather than certs... Congrats on passing your exam and good luck with upcoming ones.
I think some people are able to get carts by doing projects on their own hands on org / try volunteering with some non profit organization where someone can mentor you. Good luck on getting that experience, passing that certification!
Hi Mikee in this current day an age with soo much supply of talent coming into the ecosystem, would you say its best to work with a recruiter to find that first role ? Entry level roles seem very saturated ryt now. Would love your thoughts on this.
Congrats. I see SO many salesforce "how I got into tech" and first time job posts during covid. Obviously trailhead is free so that helps. Considering all that, do you feel there is a bit of oversupply at some point with salesforce consultants?
I don’t think so at all! I think Salesforce is booming even with the current layoffs. Many companies are using Salesforce and consultants are in demand everywhere. From my experience, not many people even really know of Salesforce and I think it’s a great place to start getting into tech
Congratulations to you. The video is very helpful. I'm currently in an internship position myself and preparing to take the exam. Can you share how you studied? I'm all over the place right now and feel a bit intimidated. Thanks 😊
Congratulations on landing an internship! I would study concepts on focus on force, then learn how to apply those concepts with udemy course: mike wheeler media. I definitely think the best way to prepare for the exam is taking as many practice exams as you can! Focus on force has a great course for exam study guides and they’re structured very similarly to how the exam was :) good luck!

Then if u Don’t understand something apply your knowledge thru trailhead courses :) There are so many trails and definitely don’t beat yourself up for not being able to do all of them. I didn’t complete them !

Thank you for the support! :)
Madam what is your salary right now
Hello, I make the average salary for Jr Salesforce Admins in the United States :)
Thanks
Why does what you describe sound like a complete scam?
Lol it’s not a scam! Google it :)
@@Mikeelianne I did. Sounds even more like one.
It’s not like you’re gonna be handed a Salesforce Admin job just by passing the certification exam if you don’t have experience. The person who made this video seems to have taken the exam while getting actual work experience.
