The Gar Fly | Fly Tying Tutorial

The Gar is one of the most underrated fish to target on a fly rod, and a lot of the time they are extremely difficult to hook. This video details how to tie that prefect fly to catch them. Gar are relatively easy to convince to bite as long as the fly has action to it, but penetrating their hard beak is near impossible. This fly uses nylon rope, which becomes tangled in their many teeth. Yeah, its not nearly exciting when setting the "hook" but the fight with these fish is something to experience.
