Running Out of Fir Lap Siding & Can't Get More! Off Grid Cabin Build.

  • I'm back at the Spur Cabin and ready to get to work! After nearly 3 weeks away, we tackle what's left of the beautiful Douglas fir lap siding I started in my most recent build video. I'm destined to run out of this one-of-a-kind product before I finish the back of the cabin, but the closer I get to the end of the pile, the more concerned I get that we'll run out before the sides are even done. Yikes!
    In this episode, I flash windows, I measure and cut and predrill and nail and caulk, and hang some beautiful siding. It's work, and the work is compounded when I deal with Mother Nature! You'll see snow, rain, fog, wind, and sunshine. It's not always the most fun, but always worth the effort.
    Moose Merchandise, AKA Moose Merch is almost here! After hearing from several of you, we plan to launch products around the first of the year. Stay tuned for details, but plan on hats, caps, t's, hoodies and more. But I'm also open to great suggestions!

    Hello? Hello... are you there? OH! There you are! Yes, I watched every minute of the siding segments and never 'dropped off'- even stuck around for the 'commercials' 'cause I know that helps you. I hope you get a deer this year! I live in Alaska, but have never been as motivated as you seem to be, to live off the land and the grid as you have; dreamed about it, but never done it. What nice experiences viewing Creation you must have had! As to your question about the 'merch', I believe I would be more inclined towards a quality short-sleeved shirt.

    Two or three months ago, I discovered this channel. I've never missed an episode since. I'm from central Missouri. If you want a deer, you've got a good chance of getting one here. Missouri and Mississippi are number 1 and number 2 for the largest deer herds in the United States. I've gotten 2 with my pickups, and my wife got one with her car. Cheaper killing them with a rifle. Anyway, I love the show. Take care. Vaughn

    I've got a 10" slider miter saw (or two...). I've always threatened to get a 14" slider miter saw so I can do all the stuff I do with just one pass. 4x4's and boards that are just a little too wide or too much of an angel for my 10" blade. Still haven't done it. Cost of the saw aside, the blades are pretty pricey and I like the really toothy blades with carbide on them and other bedazzled extras. Those run in the hundreds for 1 blade. After 5 blades you've spent the price of the saw if you got the really good one. You just never see those blades in a discount 12 pack...

    Looks amazing! Another great video with great humor! 👍
    Single board left - that's coincidence. 😂

    I vote for coffee mugs. Whatever you put out there I'm sure will sell. I like the suggestion of a moose with a hammer and a saw. Man you gotta come down here for a break...it has hovered about 76° F with mostly all sunshine for the last week and a half. Great weather for outdoor activities.
    It is always a pleasure watching your shows, so thank you for putting them on for us. May God bless you and have a wonderful Christmas,

    Wild Kingdom, another great show in it’s day. I enjoyed watching it, just like red moose ranch.

    If you offer t-shirts or hoodies, make sure add “tall sizes”. Hoodies……I like the full zip up kind. Merry Christmas.

    Always watch entire video. I am building my own cabin and really under estimated the fastener budget, hope this helps others. Hat and hooded sweatshirts.

    Why did you change from the 5" spacing on the wood siding on the fifth board up left of the front door on the corner? By the way, I love the fact that you show what one person can do by themselves with a good work ethic and some practical know-how..

      Hey thank you! That board is the transition between the top and bottom siding styles, and wanted to line the lap up evenly with the flashing above the awning. 🙏

    If I were to buy Moose Merch it would be a t-shirt. And while i love the look of your cabin and all the education on how you share, that caulk drives me nutso on how visible it is. Does it age and blend more over time?

      @LifeontheMoose  9 месяцев назад

      Yes it does. Like I mentioned in videos a few times, once it’s stained, it almost goes away. I appreciate you watching!

    Looks like the new dishwasher was delivered safe and sound, not a scratch on it. Heavy cotton tee shirts and knit caps. Why would peeps want to subscribe and like a video they haven't seen yet? Makes no sense.
