    Good to watch this again as after I build the walls on the carport and move the garage door, I want to put a 4' awning over the garage door, Thing now I might as well build it the 25' length of the front of the garage. I'll just do a tin roof on slats instead of sheathing, but I'll follow suit on everything you do on the awning frame. I'm just hoping you don't hit your thumb or something 'cuz then I have to do that too. 😁

    Is that the camera that makes it look like it is off center? In any case I am wondering why you didn't extend it on both sides to the soffit line for more protection to the door and to balance the look? Cabin is coming along nicely.

    • @LifeontheMoose
      @LifeontheMoose  Год назад +1

      It is NOT centered to the building, good eye! By design, I centered it over the elements it is covering…the door and window. Thanks for watching!

    It looks good. Made well. Great job. I do think you’re going to kick yourself for not making it 6ft or so off cabin to give you an actual porch for sittin/firewood storage/shelter from weather going in and out

    • @LifeontheMoose
      @LifeontheMoose  Год назад

      Thank you! We considered just that, but decided against it. Weird glitch with codes where adding one might make a permit necessary. We may be building an outside “kitchen patio” with cover instead.

  • @richardminor5401

    I notice more than once that while you were using the speed square to cross cut - you did not use the lip of the square closer to you to prevent having to hold the square on the far side of the cut

    • @LifeontheMoose
      @LifeontheMoose  7 месяцев назад

      Although I do both, depending on the cut, etc, I’d prefer to hold it on the far end, so I’m not applying pressure on the wood in the direction away from my hand. Much easier to hold with the force of each hand coming together…if that makes sense!

  • @danielharsh7698
    @danielharsh7698 Год назад

    While I really like your overhang, you have created some cutting for yourself.

      Aesthetics. We didn’t want it centered on the building, we wanted it centered over the door-window space.
