How can Christ look really great in our body? 1. Philippians 1:21: "...to die is gain." How to die to make Him look for great? Christ will be shown to be magnificent in my body...for...to me, to die is gain. When you die, spouse is gone, sex is gone, children are gone, dream retirement are gone, hobbies are good, body with pleasures are gone, my earthly body will die, any pleasures on this earth will die. --> My body is for the Lord's. My only satisfaction is in Christ Jesus. --> Dying is gain --> You lose everything, you get Christ. Weigh those on the scales, Jesus is ASTRONOMICALLY. better. Christ is shown to be magnificent in our dying when we experience Him as more satisfying than all the pleasures in this life that this earth can give. Christ is more magnified in me, when I most satisfied in Him...especially in the moments of suffering and death when everyone expects me to be dissatisfied. When everyone in the world is so dissatisfied, I am most satisfied in Him. He looks like a treasure more than anything else in this world. If this seed plants into your soul, the implications are staggering. Taste and see that the Lord is good. Like newborn babies, "long for the pure milk of the word." 3. Changes how we think about faith --> John 6:35: Jesus is bread and water (living water that satisfies Him). --> Come to Him as bread and water to have the soul hunger and soul thrist, be satisfied. Faith is the awakening of realizing all we need is Him. You are what I was made for. All I need, you are it. Believe what you sing, and you'll be okay. 4. Evil --> Jeremiah 2:13. Evil is the Creator of the Universe who loves us enough to send our Son die in our place, and we taste and say we don't think so and look for it in the world. Murder is not the ultimate evil. We get soooo worked up about murder and rape and adultery and stealing, and God hardly comes into the picture for people. My people have committed two evils, they have forsaken me, the foundation of living waters. I have water for you, I know what satisfies your soul, and I am it. NO. I will find my way and do my thing and I will suck on this dirt til I'm dead. 5. Christian hedonism changes the way we think about self-denial. There is a real, real doctrine and teaching of self-denial in the Bible. Mark 8:34 if anyone would come after me, let him deny himself, take up your cross, and follow me. Response is read the next verse. How to be a Christian hedonist? LOSE IT. LOSE IT for the sake of the poor. Lose it for missions. LOSE IT! Put to death what is evil in you. We are constantly be santificied. 6. Changes the way we think about money and the act of giving. Be a generous person. "It is more blessed to give than to receive." Blessed --> satisfied, rejoicing, happy, etc. The only way the soul is designed to happy by receiving from the Lord, and giving to others. We are made to be a conduit. When the water, the living water is freely flowing from God into you, satisfying your soul, flowing out ing genersoity, you sleep well at night. Bank account is heaven is full and reward is great. Don't lay up treasures on earth, b/c they get eaten by moths. Lay up treasures in heaven. You will have greater tastebuds for Jesus. Each one must give as he had decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. God is not happy with fake giving. He doesn't love that. Get happy in giving. God loves not reluctant or under constraint givers. If you don't feel it, give it. God will use these moments, this moment to change you. He will make you a lover of Him so satisfying that He will give. Your deposition is give (not ignoring rascal beggar on the corner...that is not your mindset). What is your attitude towards these folks? What is your heart? Heart test: When you get to Heaven, you will not hear "wow you were so shrewd not to be taken advantage of." You don't which is which, He doesn't really care if you're ripped off. Get $50, $1. Ask for $3-5 one-dollar bills, can I get 3 minutes of your time? Then tell me your story. 7. Changes the way we worship corporately. Worship is being satisfied with all that God is for us in Jesus. Pastors, singers, etc., their task is to spread a banquet in lyrics and preaching whatever tasks we need to connect with the living God. Instruments or no instruments. The heart of worship is our these three people satisfied with the God they just met in the gospel. Where is your heart in the worship? Hearts towards Jesus or far from Jesus 8. Changes the way we look at disability and Weakness. Paul was a thorn-pierced man. 2 Corinthians 12:9: "My grace is sufficient for you. My power is made perfect in weakness." So what did Paul say? "Therefore I all the more gladly boast in my weakness so that the power of Christ may rest upon me..." I want Him to be magnified in my life. Therefore I will receive it gladly. 9. To love is to be satisfied in God that you extend it to other people and include Him in it. It's not about shrinking in your cocoon of satisfaction. The grace of God came down, joy overflowed, and in extreme poverty and much affiliation, they overflowed in genrosity!! My definition of love is love is joy in God that overflows to meet the needs of others. 10. Changes ministry. 2 Corinthians 1:24. "...we are workers with you for your joy..." Leaders job is not to lord it over them but to help them have progress and joy in the faith so that their pride in Christ Jesus may be abundant. Circling back to Philippians 1:25-26, Paul realizes He is not going to die so He says if I am to remain it will be for your progress and joy in the faith so that your pride in Christ Jesus may be abundant..." God deals with faith, but leaders do want to work with you "for your joy in Jesus..." because God is most glorified in you, when you are most saitisited in Him especially in those moments of suffering and death.

God knows us and what we need better than anyone, how to satisfy us at the soul level, has the love motivation to bless us, and has all power to do good for us. Wife, family and friends all lack that degree of knowledge, love, and power. He is the greatest treasure.
You must be born again. It's inexplicable. God is so unlike anything or anyone else. He is just and nobody is just like Him. He is kind and nobody is kind like Him. He is merciful and nobody is merciful like Him. He is loving and nobody is loving like Him. This is the God who created you and knows every detail of your being. His mercy and grace is manifested in that you are alive breathing even though you've sinned against Him. He created you and gave you life knowing that you would sin against Him and His mercies are new for you everyday. My wife? My son? They are beautiful and amazing. Loss compared to Him! I have never been “satisfied” with God. I follow Jesus because His gospel is truth. God is glorified when we are obedient. Our level of satisfaction is dependent on feelings that change with the wind.
What he’s talking about is “contentment”. As in when I am in a place where I am satisfied in my life with God and God alone, the joy and the peace that is found there, allows me to glorify God MOST. At this point, obedience is a given.
