She is the OPPOSITE of a Diva. Working as a waiter in the COMCAST Bldg in Philly, she was at an event with the CEO, CFO, et. al. and network stars and assorted news anchors. When I came by with a tray of Champagne flutes; Ms. Lee cut-off the conversation with the big wigs'; acknowledged how handsome this old bald Irishman (me) looked in my tux uniform (straight off the rack from Kohl's) The Chairman of the Board and Sunday am news anchor with hair plugs, remained quiet. They threw eye darts at me as Ms. Lee gracefully took a flute and gushed to ME how lovely the food and drinks and table settings were....as if she were a grateful visitor to MY home!
Aww, that's a beautiful story! Shows what a kind and beautiful person she is. I love when celebrities are gracious and caring to everyone around them.
@@mrsdvshe seems very warm and generous of spirit. I recently listened to her interview on fresh air and she was lovely.
@@mrsdv Decades ago I worked in Silicon Valley. Again I was working as a waiter, The YPA was made up of billionaires under 45 who met to support each other. It pissed me off that Steve Jobs had movies and books written about what a DIFFICULT task master he was to his vice-presidents (who had stock options up the wazoo). He too would stop and have minutes long conversations with parking valets, waiters and cooks at these YPA events.
That’s wonderful. You are so lucky! Actually, she’s the true meaning of the word DIVA. Her voice is heaven. I was young when I saw her in Dream Girls & became an instant fan.
That's lovely 😙
She's one of those people that just makes you feel comfortable and pulls you in. I was smiling the whole time.
Me too ❤❤❤❤❤❤
♨♨♨
This woman looks flawless!!
I listened to an interview of her with terry gross recently. Her mother was a well known fashion designer from the Caribbean. Apparently she invented a clothing item called the kariba I think. It was a lightweight garment meant to replace heavy suits.
“Mother is tired…”. Lol😂 She’s amazing
I'm 32 years old I and remember being a kid, watching her on screen in Moesha and Sister Act 2... and she looks exactly the same! 😮 So very classy, with such a satisfying, recognisable speaking voice.
When I was young I watched this silly show called "It's a Living", and Ms. Ralph was the best part of it. But how come she still looks the same and I look like a withered, old goblin?
@@tontonjeannot6089 : 😁
LOL I guess she found out that "singing, Does pay the BILLS"!!
Her joy is contagious ❤
She’s always been a legend in our community. So so glad to see her being celebrated worldwide🌍🌟
As a 1st gen Jamaican, Sheryl is so iconic to me🥰❤️
That was wonderful, Stephen. Giving Sheryl Lee Ralph a bouquet of flowers moved her and me. What life and energy she has. She's a bundle of positivity.
THE goddess Sheryl always looking marvelous! And that outfits! Kudos to her stylist (a.k.a. her daughter!) for this stunning looks! Miss Ralph brings it to us every ball!
Yessss! Her daughter does not miss!
@@KamInBim At all!!!
Absolutely love Sheryl Lee Ralph & she definitely deserved that emmy for her role in Abbott. 😃
Oh, Stephen is smitten by Sheryl...🥰
When she walked out on stage I was like DAMN! She is captivating in her interview. She garbs your attenion and holds it!
The radiant Mrs Ralph is living!
Annnnd my day just got 10x better. This is the positive energy I was looking for.
I know, right!! ❤😊
I have been watching Stephen for years and I have only commented once when Michelle Obama was on the show, which I still say was his best show ever. However Sheryl Lee Ralph was one of the MOST beautiful women he has ever had.
She is so beautiful it’s insane.
What an absolutely lovely woman. Truly genuine.
Stephen, you charmer, you! The flowers were a nice touch! She deserves all the flowers!
I had the pleasure of meeting her at a function in the 90s when she was on "Moesha." Everyone was taken with Brandy, but I knew of Sheryl Lee Ralph, a real star, one of the original "Dreamgirls!" Not only was she gracious enough to chat with this starstruck civilian, she gave her million watt smile to what is now one of my favorite photographs of my entire life. Every time I see her being showered with praise & beaming with pride, it just makes me happy. She's earned this, every bit of it!
We need a Colbert Questionnaire with Ms. Ralph!!! PLEASE AND THANK YOU
I smiled the whole time, she's just lovely ❤
She knows who she is, what she is, and best of all how to be the best version of herself
That outfit and that dance 😍💜😍💜😍💜😍💜😍💜😍
Wasn't it GREAT, and Steven Grove right on in😊
I now have a Serious girl crush 😍
I feel like that dance with Sheryl just solidifies how captivated and smitten Stephen is when it comes to Black women. ❤😂
It looked so flawless like they had rehearsed it but you could tell that it was spontaneous and heartfelt. Stephen was feeling some sort of way for sure!💜💜💜💖💖
Right? And I caught a quick glance at her back side as he walked behind his desk. If they weren’t married, I’d say this is a great match. I love him with Evie…, but this one…if no Evie, I think she’d be the one.
Why is validation needed from a race other than one's own? The host was doing his job and gave a good show, just as he always does.
@@d_roi8689 I only made the comment because from the interviews I’ve seen him do on LSSC, guests that are black women seem to bring out a little extra “sparkle” out of him, if you will (especially his interviews with Tiffany Haddish and Nicki Minaj). It’s just an assumption based off what I observe. Also, the dance is just cute!! Like I wanna be on that stage with them!
@@emmanuellatio1903 and Issa Rae.
What an awesome interview.
🇯🇲🇯🇲
My parents took me to see, “Dreamgirls” when I was a teen! My first Broadway play! I still have my playbill!! Love you so much Sheryl Lee!!! You’re an amazing talent and an inspiration to all especially chocolate girls!! And Stephen giving her flowers at the end brought tears to my eyes! Nice touch 🥰🥰🥰😂
The band must have known ahead of time what she was wearing - that music is just too perfect.
She always been a very talented vivacious well dressed refined women she's in her 60s and she in a deserved genuinely happy space it's radiating
Sheryl(whom I had the pleasure of meeting) is just as beautiful in person as on screen.
BDE... Big Diva Energy! 🙌🏻🎉❤
Pure sunshine! ☀
Stephen you are such a true gentleman ...You match the vibe of your guests to make them feel appreciated and special. I always love you offer your hand to all the ladies for the steps . Its those small gestures that make me happy to watch you every day!
I LOVE HER ENERGY throughout this interview. Whew! Just bubbling with life and love
“They’re like kids!” 🤣🤣🤣💞

I could listen to her talk all day
I think that is the best outfit ever worn by a Colbert guest
Woman got so much class and sass! And dat A**, Damn!
I'm showing my age but I don't care. I've watched her since the days of her as a waitress on It's a Living! She's just magical!!!
thats where i met and fell in love with her as a little girl!
@@tawshisms Yesss, she should be cloned lol
For me it was Moesha 😂
Talk about lighting up a room. She’s dazzling.
Yes, her energy and presence.
OMG I sooo LOVE this woman!! She exudes so much positive energy with style, class, always with a smile and so much F-U-N!! Thank YOU Sheryl Lee Ralph!!!
I've liked Sheryl ever since I first saw her in The Mighty Quinn. She was fabulous then, and she's fabulous now!
She looks fantastic! 💜💜💜
Thanking God that she is receiving her flowers.
Could not click on this fast enough. Love her!!!!❤❤❤
I finally watched the episode I recorded last night and her DIVA statement about Nina Simone at Cannes Party and she went over to her and said ‘you’re Nina Simone’ and she turned and said ‘yes I am’, with Sheryl giving the perfect delivery of her reply
I can see why I was demeaned. Bc I did more and provided more than I knew at the time. Grateful for the opportunity to work in areas I wouldn’t have had the chance to otherwise.
How is it possible to be so happy and nice all the time? She´s a bright star in the world. Love her
I adore this beautiful diva of a woman. From her line on Good Times " murder on my lipstick", how grand she was as a waitress on It's a Living, Mrs Mitchell on Moesha and now fierce on Abbott. It took way too long for her to receive her accolades but it's her time now and I'm so happy for her. Her infectious smile says it all❤
She radiates beauty and joy inside out! We are so proud of her for her accomplishments.🌠❤
What an ENTRANCE ❤❤❤❤❤❤
What an intro 😊
Unstoppable! ♥
GORGEOUS! And she's 66! She's putting women more than half her age to SHAME.
AND PURPLE!! Oh, oh I love purple!! 💜
Sheryl Lee Ralph has always been a great entertainer...a beautiful woman...a beautiful spirit.
Mother has received her flowers. Such a joy!
She has such a positive energy!!
Purple is her color. Just beautiful!
Its the opening dance for me!
This inherently classy, talented, eloquent and beautiful lady embodies the saying: "a breath of fresh hair" 😊
Goddess Sherly Lee Ralph!!!!! Yes ma’am!!!
She’s such a beam of light omg
she's been gorgeous all her life. and just gets finer and finer!
It is impossible not to fall immediately and forever in love with this Goddess.
Queen Sheryl is killing it! What a beautiful soul she is.❤
She is so natural pleasant und likeable! She deserves to be a star!
I remember her first from the t.v. show It's A Living, and then Designing Women. She's been a "celebrity" way before her role in "Moesha" so I'm glad she's finally getting the recognition she deserves.
I just had a weird urge to check under my chair for flowers.
What a joy! What a DIVA!
I need a woman like Sheryl in my life. She's so fun!
What a delightful guest!
What a wonderful interview. Very nice!
Live your life auntie!

How genius of the band to play Simone’s “I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free” during the outro.

It does get greater later! Go head on!
