Beam hasn’t quite optimized itself for truck driving yet. I still don’t think it has true switch support, support for true 18 speed layouts, and it’s nearly impossible to float gears.
I think you are right about the switch part, but floating gears is absolutely possible in beamng, it even simulates synchronizer damage to the cars with syncros
@@panagiotisdrivas8011 Possible but not well simulated. In ATS/ETS if the speeds aren’t quite synched it feeds you some vibration thru your FFB and doesn’t go into gear . Milan, you should've used the in-game T-Series vs American Truck Simulator, it really isn't fair to use a low quality mod for a comparison video. Also should've shown how detailed truck gameplay is, you can disable trailer air supply, use the truck's engine to supply the hydraulics, showcase how you can make the container trailers longer and everything. You've only shown 1% of what Beamng has to offer when it comes to trucking
@@fokuz2025 If you download map mods from the official website, there's literally large realistic maps with realistic road width and camber, unlike this joke of a game, also the physics are far superior... What is your point?
I was just thinking of creating a video like this the other day when I saw the Volvo FH mod in a Discord server I was in. I didn't expect that I'll be beaten to it! Both the BeamNG and ETS2 Volvos have their own goods and bads; one being that the FH in Beam actually feels like a truck: it's heavy and it feels just right for a truck, however, the truck is too bouncy, and it does burnouts when doing sharp turns. ETS2's FH feels like you're *driving* a truck, however it can sometimes feel arcady without the use of any physics mods, and the truck is too stiff. Personally, I'd still choose ETS2 as Beam isn't quite ready when it comes to truck driving yet - and ETS2 is a simulator for trucks.
kinda good vid. I feel like it skipped over everything about the new update with the trucks in Beam and also it was modded game vs vanilla game so I feel like the vid feels like brushing the surface but taking ages to do it.
the modded rain is understandable, you could say thats the best beam got is modded. But the truck was just no. Usualy mods have wierder lights than vanilla and this seemed to have no functicionality other that normal driving. At least you werent testing crashes, that would be extreme unjustice testing a mod In my opinion.
I think that this video is wrong because you can't compare two colpetelu different games, beameng doesn't have an enormous map like ets2 and other things beacuse it two completely different games
Both games have different goals but... I have more than 2000 hours on ET2 and drive real trucks (2022 Scania). I've had way more fun trucking on a tiny map with basic jobs and despite it not being the main gameplay mechanic. Just the physics alone is light years away from ET2. Of course that horrible Volvo mod doesn't show it, but at 1:45, the way a trailer reacts is exactly like that. So real I've spent a lot of time just watching how the suspension reacts. Like the way when you lock up the brakes, the rear axles shake like they are going to rip off the truck (and yes, it's a thing on certain heavy machines). I love having to grind from small boxes in a shitty car. That everything has more consequences... You can't replace (yet...) ET2/ATS...but BeamNG shows what SCS is seriously lacking...
Thank you for the video, but, I have to say the Volvo mod you have in BeamNG is a poor quality one. The official trucks made by BeamNG are more refined. Some vehicle mods for Beam can be really well put together - like the ones I use - but this Volvo isn't one of them. Also, BeamNG haven't implemented a rain system into the game yet, so it really depends how good the mod for rain you have is. But talking about rain mods, I do recommend players of ETS2 and ATS trying DB Creation's weather mod, I find that to be really well created and more realistic over the base game's system. I would recommend trying base game v base game, in a recent update BeamNG added a cab-over truck to the game, so that would provide for a better comparison. And one quick interesting fact between these two games is: BeamNG is in 1:1 scale whereas ETS2 is in 1:19 scale. So it is unlikely that BeamNG would create a large cross-country map like what SCS Software has done.
