@@Avionics_test_pilot Did you use the 3/32” holes on each side of the mounting rivnuts? I assume these are left-over from a time when they used nut plates at the corners rather than rivnuts.
Those small holes are meant to rivet the rivnut ring to the panel. Txi and other Garmin panel mounted equipment just have you rivet rivnuts directly to the panel. Since G3X was originally designed for experimental they made it easier to install. In some cases I just use rivnuts on the panel
What hardware/avionics need to be purchased in addition to the g3x to make the unit functional? Like if you were converting a 6-pack VFR aircraft to a g3x IFR ready. Does the g3x come with coms/nav, transponder, ahrs?
The G3X comes with the adahars, outside air temperature sensor and magnetometer. The coms, nav, IFR gps, transponder are all separate. There are also lots of options that can be added to G3X to display engine information, xm weather /music, etc
@@Avionics_test_pilot Garmin's website does not do the greatest job at explaining how all of the pieces go together. So the G3X is basically just the screen with the pitot static and vacuum gauge information (Six pack replacement). I saw an exterior com module that could be added, but I could not find modules for the GPS or transponder; those systems were all entire units. I appreciate your reply!
part 2? this is great stuff
Came for your mini jeep videos, stayed for your personality!
Good stuff!
Did you make a part 2?
Nice video, good work.
Great job. Did you install the AOA with the GAP26 pitot/aoa probe? Do you have part 2?
How did you attach the mounting rings for the GDU displays to the panel?
Dash 3 soft rivets
