I’ve started making and uploading crochet videos recently. My subscriber count hasn’t budged but one of my videos suddenly exploded a bit. I only uploaded it yesterday and it has almost 30 views and it’s been suggested under videos from channels with 20k+ subscribers so I’m kinda happy about that
I'm starting a crafting channel, I finished the profile picture (as you can see) and I'm thinking of doing my first video tomorrow, and this was very helpful!
Thank you so much for your timing. I've been playing with the idea of starting a channel for the past couple of years. This week my daughter helped me to make a test video just to see if the equipment we have will work to put anything through. It did. Skill Share is another item I've been considering. And you put it in this video! I signed up before I heard the next tip😊. Doing a happy dance for opening doors. Thank you! You've made a dull day really brighten up! YAY! Now I need to watch the rest. 😁
That makes me soooo happy!!! I'm so glad the video was good timing!!! And I'm so glad you got your free month of Skillshare! Such a wonderful resource!! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much now I am gonna start my own crochet RUclips channel and u are so helpful! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and I love watching your videos...
THANK YOU FOR THIS!!!! I had started out, quite a few years ago, making nail art videos. Then, I gave up on it for awhile but then decided, since I’m a knitter and crocheter, to share what I make. Then, my niece, who lives in Wisconsin (I’m in Pennsylvania), asked me to teach her how to knit and how to crochet! I decided to make videos to teach her and other people found my channel and now I have a few more subscribers! I only show my face occasionally, but I’m still really nervous in front of the camera. Skillshare sounds like it will be helpful for me. Thank you a million times! Now I’m off to polish my nails so I can make another video! 😉💜😘

Thank you Elise, I did it! I’ve been thinking of starting one for a while now but you encouraged me to jump head in. It’s quite a steep learning curve, but I’m trying to enjoy the process. I love Ali Abdaal’s class, it is definitely informational. I hated the idea of showing my face, but you convinced me to change my mind. Your YT channel, blog, and IG accounts are all so inspirational. I love everything you do, I just can’t get enough.
Awww! I'm so glad you took Ali's class! He is incredible!! And I felt the exact same way when I started. I was so overwhelmed, frustrated and excited all at the same time. It's no different than learning crocheting or knitting, it's just new skills to learn. Good luck to you!! 💓💓💓
Very Informative! What I love, in addition to your creative works of art, is the priority you give to education! Your videos always provide a journey of learning! Thank you!
I love listening to you. You’re so practical and lovely. I’m definitely a fan. My goodness I can’t imagine being on RUclips more than several months. I don’t know how people stay on so long. I watch because I’m interested in learning and want to know how they solved the problem of content.
I'm gonna push back a bit on the suggestion to find/know your niche and work within it. Other RUclipsrs I've watched have given advice on starting a channel, and one thing that seems to be common is that while they should stay within the realm of whatever subject they choose, they should experiment with a bunch of videos within that realm. So for instance, a BookTube channel should do book hauls, review books, talk about books they want to read, talk about interviews with authors they like, maybe cover things about publishing, talk about why they do/don't like self-published books, talk about merits/lack thereof fanfiction, compare books to the movies made of them, etc. And when they find out which videos are getting the most views, they begin dropping the ones that aren't getting a great deal of feedback/views, and lean more into the ones that are. Thought maybe the different sub-categories have more to do with the buckets that you talked about? I'm not sure. Either way, though, I love the advice. I'm still prepping to get an actual RUclips channel up and running for myself.
Hi Kate! I think we are talking about the same things. In my opinion the BookTube channel you described is very niched down. It's all about the books and those different subtopics are the content buckets. That BookTube channel wouldn't all of a sudden do a video on how to change the oil on the car yourself (unless of course it was a major plot point from a story and it was a fun way to drive home the point from a favorite book, lol.) The point being is that when someone new comes to that Book Tube channel they will immediately know that it's about books, they don't have to look at a lot of random content to wonder what it's all about. 📚❤️ P.S. I love BookTube channels, lol! 😂

Hi Elise!! I absolutely love your videos!! Your incredible talent, enthusiasm and love for amigurumi, crochet and knitting, always keep me coming back to watch more. You're one of my favorite RUclips creators, and while I have no intention of starting my own YT channel, I still enjoy learning so much from your videos. Also, I do have a family and a full time job, so I keep telling myself I'll never have enough time for this. But I want to give it a try so bad and hopefully build a channel that will give me the opportunity to switch career in the future and make it my full-time job. I've just started my tutorial channel about how to edit svg files in Cricut, Silhouette and Brother ScanNCut. I'm a non-native English speaker so it takes a lot of time to voiceover. Now I use tts but I still keep practicing my English and use my voice in some videos that I share my experience.
Elise, I love your videos and watch every one of them, even if I'm not that interested in the topic. Every day I head for your channel, hoping to find a new post, but I keep finding the same videos - maybe about 30 of them (which I rewatch) - even though you say you post a new one every week. I've also subscribed to your newsletter, but have never received one. I would watch you read the phone book, but I'd much rather see those weekly videos. Any ideas?

Hi Elise Thanks for sharing this information with us. Just recently I’ve been tossing around the idea of creating a RUclips channel but I’m everything you said at the start - afraid that I don’t have anything new, I definitely don’t want to show myself on camera 😂, I’m definitely not that experienced in crocheting I just love making things when I can squeeze time out of my day and then having to spend lots of time editing and posting will probably take the fun out of crocheting 🧶 I don’t know if I’m trying to convince myself to do this or not…I’ll definitely need more information and think more on it. Thanks again Elise, this information is gold! Take care and stay safe. God bless 🙏🏽💜😊🧶 P.S. My other love is reading novels- but I see I shouldn’t combine these too in one channel 😂
I'm so glad you found the information helpful! RUclips is a great creative outlet, but it definitely isn't for everyone! I think it's wise to think about it. But the good news is that even if you do try, you're not locked into keep going if you don't enjoy it! I love reading too!! 🧶🧶🧶
Thank you! I really appreciate your investment in us. Your honesty and humility are endearing. And you share such helpful information! Love your videos!
Thank you Elise this was exactly what I asked you two weeks ago ! You must have been working on it at the time! Such a fantastic unselfish post from you ! It is quite daunting especially with all the new terminology and technology out there! There must also be legal no nos that one should be aware of such as plagiarism and having children in your videos , is that not so ? People don’t want to inadvertently fall into these traps . Any advice on this?
I'm so glad you enjoyed it. You make a couple of good points. You cannot share work from other people's patterns. It is their copyrighted material. You can show finished projects, but none of the actual pattern. You cannot make tutorials from patterns written by other designers as well. 🧶 You may have children in your videos. There was a big kerfuffle a few years ago called COPPA (you can Google it). What you want to do, if you want to be monetized, is not make your work look like it's intended for children. I was worried because I share a lot about crocheted and knitted toys, so I was worried it would be flagged "for children". But it hasn't been. RUclips can also tell from your demographics whether or not adults or children are your targeted audience. RUclips has a great creator academy where you can learn a lot about the legalities as well! ❤️❤️❤️
I loved this!! Thank you!! Still would love a tutorial on those gorgeous big flowers that are on the bunnies ears!! I’m a flower kinda gal!! Thank you again!!
Thank you!!! And that pattern is from Grace and Yarn! 🐰 Since it's not my pattern I'm not allowed to create a tutorial for it. But her photo tutorial has a lot of pictures in it that are super helpful! www.graceandyarn.com/2018/03/crochet-bunny-headband-free-pattern.html 🌼🌸🌺
I love Saturday because I look forward to your videos, regardless of topic. Haha. There's A LOT of amigurumi and granny square books coming out this fall. Just a heads up! (I found out from amazon)
@@EliseRoseCrochet The Zodiac dolls, 1 Hour Amigurumi, and the 3D Granny Square Animals all look precious. Then of course I am sure you know that Picapau is making a 3rd book.
Hi Elise! Your channel is lovely 🥰 do you think a new Mac book air is a good idea to start creating videos? Or would you recommend starting with something else?
I started with a MacBook Air and it was good, but it was difficult because of the limited storage. Video files get large quickly. I ended up getting a MacBook Pro and that has helped a lot. I also use an external hard drive to move big video files off of my computer. Hope that helps! 💖
@@EliseRoseCrochet certification is going to be more challenging but I will 😓 persevere thanks for asking. I’m working on my business name… and my niche….can I “IM” YOU TO GET YOUR FEEDBACK.
You mentioned something in your video I hope you can give me an answer to. I just recently started a new channel making a lot of the mistakes that you talk about, one of them being my name. I'm starting to think that it might be too generalized. After only uploading 2 videos, Would it be too late to change it?
You can do whatever you want! That's the beauty of RUclips! My suggestion would be to focus your channel then on discovering different crafts. Always think about what is in it for your viewer. Hope that helps! 🧶🧶🧶
This is such a wonderful video truly outstanding! You had mentioned a blog that shows thumbnails that are successful and that are a flop and I was not able to locate that in the description. I just started my tutorial you tube channel about 4 months ago and I am going to be 73 in a few months. I love listening to you and all the other crocheters, sewers and crafters on you tube as I crochet. I dislike when they do not tell me what they are doing and just show the craft and play irritating music. LOL I am not interested in making money, I am just hoping to pass on my love of everything creative. I am just random I guess.
That is wonderful!!! I hope I'm like you at 73 and not afraid to try new things! And I think it's wonderful that you want to share your love of crafting online!! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much for this. I just started my RUclips channel, and I hope to reach 1000 subscribers by the end of the year. This will be really helpful.
Great video as always… I speak French , but live in the USA. So I get the issue of English speaking folks not being able to pronounce your channel name. It’s the same for my full legal name. Very few can actually say it correctly. 😂
I started a channel, and the videos are not great, but it was something. However, because of RUclips's stupid rules about linking to anything off of RUclips, I took down ALL my videos and was planning to move to Rumble or BitChute or Odysee. I don't like the way RUclips treats creators. Not only that but I can't edit videos, so I can't show both my hands and my face. I don't like RUclips's video editor.
I do. There are channels where people don't show their face. I think it's probably harder to stand out in a crowded space without showing your face, but it's definitely possible! Good luck to you! ❤️
I just found your channel. I do crafts and I'm struggling getting anyone to see my content. I've had this channel for a long time without posting. I heard I should start a brand new channel

I'm lucky to still have her twin sister Lilly, but I know how devastating it has been to lose a beloved family member. I miss her every day. I'm happy you have sweet Pickles to help ease your pain. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!! Happy crafting and warm regards, Lisa NYC
Thank you soooo very much, Lisa!! I so appreciate your kind and thoughtful words about the channel and Jersey. I still can't believe he's gone, it was so sudden. I'm so sorry about Rose. My heart goes out to you!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
@@EliseRoseCrochet You are most welcome, Elise!! You are so sweet to write me and thank you so much about your very thoughtful and gracious words about Rose. I know exactly what you mean, I still can't believe she's gone and sometimes I think Lilly is Rose for a split second. It's so hard, and my heart goes out to you, as well. We just love them so much, it hurts terribly when they're just suddenly gone. I hope time and wonderful memories help you heal. Of course, sweet Pickles, too!!
I get so much from your videos because you are so authentic and so passionate about your beautiful handmade works of art. You are also an incredible teacher. I mostly knit, although I can crochet, but you have really taught me a lot!! I love that you use Odyssey hooks!! You have inspired me so many times. I can't thank you enough for that. It really made my day to see your comment. Thank you so much, Elise. Your channel really is quite special.
@@Pinkberyl72 Thank you so very much!
Thank you so much! This video is so very helpful! I thought about having my craft channel a lot, but as you said, I'm intimidated by all the "competition" out there. Also, I do have a family and a full time job, so I keep telling myself I'll never have enough time for this. But I want to give it a try so bad and hopefully build a channel that will give me the opportunity to switch career in the future and make it my full-time job. Thank you so much for the encouragement and resources you provide. I look forward to your videos every week! ❤️
I'm so very glad you found the video helpful!! I recently heard an interview with JenLuvsReviews and she was in a similar situation several years ago. She was a full time teacher with small children at home. She now does RUclips full time! I hope you'll be able to find a way to make it work too!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for this video! I want to start a fun, easy to understand beginner sewing clothes and refashioning channel and hope it’s not too late!
It's never too late!!! Go for it! 🙌
Love your info here. Great job! Well done, Elise.
Thank you so much, Cheryl!! ❤️❤️❤️
Any ideas?
Go to my channel and click on the video tab. That way you will see all the videos: www.youtube.com/@EliseroseCrochet/videos ❤
As soon as I sent you the question, I found them. Thank you for answering so promptly.@@EliseRoseCrochet

Aww! Thank you so much! 🧶🧶🧶
I really needed this motivation to start my crochet channel. Thanks so much🙏❤️
Thank you!! I’ve been hesitating, and have the same fears as you are expressing.
It definitely can be scary when you're first starting! But I've found that once you start, the fear goes away once you feel more confident. ❤️❤️
Thank you so much for this video!! It was so helpful and informative! I am going to try the one month free trial of Skill Share now!! I really appreciate your handmade business advice, as I plan on purchasing Create Your Blog Dream course, and starting a RUclips channel in the next month! Thanks again!!
Oh that's amazing!! That's wonderful!! 🧶❤️🧶❤️
Hi Elise
Thanks for sharing this information with us.
God bless 🙏🏽💜😊🧶
@@EliseRoseCrochet Thank you Elise 💜🙏🏽

This is soo helpful ...and thank you❤❤❤
You're welcome 😊
@@EliseRoseCrochet Thank you so much for taking the time to answer this question. I really appreciate it ! All the way from South Africa ☀️😀

I use Canva to make thumbnails! ❤️
That’s funny you say that about the name because I LOVE the name!

You mentioned something in your video I hope you can give me an answer to. I just recently started a new channel making a lot of the mistakes that you talk about, one of them being my name. I'm starting to think that it might be too generalized. After only uploading 2 videos, Would it be too late to change it?
No! Definitely not too late! I just changed the name of my channel: ruclips.net/video/afbFVmLlTfc/видео.htmlsi=znA0QHb8ExLv9qTy 💙
Can a beginner like me make any craft content crochet, knitting, painting, etc until I find a niche which I am good at?
You can do whatever you want! That's the beauty of RUclips! My suggestion would be to focus your channel then on discovering different crafts. Always think about what is in it for your viewer. Hope that helps! 🧶🧶🧶
@@EliseRoseCrochet Thank you👍

I also like to start a Craft RUclips Channel to teach everyone. I thought these videos could not earn money. Can I?
You can make money on crafting videos but you must have 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours before you can be monetized! Hope that helps! 🧶🧶🧶

Thanks so much for sharing!! 🧶🧶🧶
hi there! what if you aren’t comfortable with showing your face? do you think its still possible to achieve the same level of success?
I do. There are channels where people don't show their face. I think it's probably harder to stand out in a crowded space without showing your face, but it's definitely possible! Good luck to you! ❤️
Im not allowed to show my face 😔
There are a lot of great crochet channels that only show their hands! 🧶🧶🧶
