I test drove my 19 Tacoma 4x4 in Aug (with 0 miles and put 3 on it) and told my salesman I'd be back in a couple months 100% to buy that particular truck. Late November I called about it using its VIN and lot number. Headed back in to drive it again (still with 3 miles on it) Come to find out it was parked on the highest level of facility and taken off their site (essentially reserved for me: took me at my word) with my 800+ credit score and trade-in ready I was in and out within 2 hours. Including all the fanagling with the finance human. Has been "my" truck since the beginning. Truly a good experience

My worst dealer experience was at our local VW place. After haggling for a good hour or more we agreed on a price and trade in. Then while doing the final paperwork I found 2 different "errors" that would've cost me about another $1,000 or so. Each time they profusely apologized. They weren't very good actors.

I don't understand why you guys had issues. Not trying to be facetious, but I bought a new 2021 Ram 1500 Bighorn 4x4 Quad with the HEMI and MDS (not ETorque) on 10/13 in Spokane. Back story - originally went to Carmax (coincidentally right next door to a Ram dealer) because we wanted - and ordered shipped - 2 Rams they had nearby. So, we looked at one of them that HAD arrived and was pretty high over TMV. We had also planned on trading in a 2018 Wrangler with 10k miles and a 2014 Ram 1500 Laramie with the Eco Diesel. It literally took them 3 hours to vet them and come back with a value. In the interim, we walked over to the Ram dealer just "to see" what they had to offer. Used Rams were WAY overpriced. Then we looked at new. 5 on lot, 3 were already being test driven. We found what wife wanted. $48k MSRP with $4k in rebates. NO 'Market Adjustment" BS.No brainer as the USED were going for nearly that much at both Carmax and this dealership. We got $33k for Jeep and $22k for old Ram. Took less than 2 hours to get out with new truck with $15k in equity - zero out of pocket. Moral of the story = now is the time to sell / trade. We only paid $34k brand new for Wrangler in 2018 - the used market is crazy stupid right now and I'm ecstatic we did our deal when we did. Love TFL - mostly the Ike Gauntlet but also the cheap 4x4 episodes. We lived in CO for 20 + years and I watch for the scenery most times. Great channel!

In Canada it’s supposedly illegal to sell above MSRP, but they find other ways to Jack prices.
That being said, buying my bronco sport badlands from my local ford dealer was absolutely painless.
I saw the car on the lot on December 28th 2020. I went home and emailed to arrange a look and test drive. December 29 I went and looked it over and filled out the paperwork.
December 30 I went and signed for and picked up a perfectly prepped new vehicle and bought at MSRP.
They gave me top dollar for my 13 Ford Flex as well, which incidentally sold the day I left it.
All in I think I spent maybe an hour at the dealer. Great experience
    Shout out Mike Knapp Ford
Had a similar experience buying my Flex at a different Ford dealer

To make sure the car is still there have the sales person send you a photo of it on the lot with his or her cell.
I understand that similar to the housing market dealerships are able to take advantage of the market and make more money. New home builders and private sellers have been over pricing homes for the past year. But our natural distain for dealerships with their stained history and common practices to literally rip off the consumer just makes it worse.

You can sell or trade-in your used car for good money if it is in good shape.
I had a 2019 Ridgeline RTL-E with only 10k miles, garaged, like new. I figured I would try to jump up to a 2022 for some of the new updates. I spoke with 5 dealers and they said and did all the things Roman mentioned. Two weeks ago a dealer called and said they just got a new Black Edition in this morning, was I interested. I went in for the hell of it, drove home with the new 'truck'. I think it was a great deal at $10,488 registered, taxes, out the door. Three years newer and a higher trim!

I think one of the things that needs to be considered when talking about direct-from-manufacturer sales vs dealerships is that, manufacturers are not in the business of selling cars... they're in the business of making cars. You'd think that the two were one in the same but they're not. I run into this in my industry, where software vendors who offer a product to us, but they also offer to host, administrate and implement their product and in the latter case its almost universally a disaster. The reason? They're a software development company - not a business that requires their software to operate and make revenue.
Dealers have spent 100 years now trying to perfect the business of *selling* cars. For some of them its all about trying to get an underhanded advantage over the consumer and that has tainted the rep of all dealers everywhere.
In general I've had good experiences with "big" dealers. One terrible experience with a small independent boutique luxury dealer.

When you make your reservation at a dealer swearing to sell at MSRP, you aren't the only one doing it. That dealer will only get so many allocations. When their availability is tapped out, people will have to be moved to next year's model or not get a car at all.
How do you solve this as a dealer?
Pay to play. If you want yours first, you will pay more for that privilege; or you will wait to buy at sticker.
I work at a dealership and was vehemently against selling over sticker until I saw what happens when 50 people try to order from 15 cars.

I think one of the main things to do when buying used cars is to buy quality. All the cars are overpriced, but one you can hang onto and put lots of trouble free miles on is at least cheap in the long run. It amazes me what people are paying for total shit boxes that will be nothing but problems. Even previously reputable dealers are now keeping cars that they would have pawned off to wholesalers in the past, not fixing them, and selling them while knowing they are junk. Pay an expert to inspect it before buying!!!

It's Just not the time to buy new cars hold on to what you have for now.
Know one should ever pay more then MSRP. For sales, parts and service, dealer's are the worst to do business with. With the exception of warranty service you should totally avoid them. All vehicles should be bought online and delivered to a dealer as its "distribution center" and at a "fixed delivery prep price". Dealers should have service advisors/ delivery techs and "eliminate sales staff" that alone could save dealer's a Fortune. Everyone knows it takes three people to sell a car the salesperson his manager and the useless Finance closer. Dealers need to rethink how they do business.
If the public thought they could be trusted they'd simply have more business.

I really don't like how companies are getting rid of buttons and going with touch screens. I remember when first touchscreen smart phones came out and how many people got in wrecks because they had to look down at their phone. It's a lot easier to find an actual button without having to look away from the road what's the new excuse when you get in a wreck, "Oh I wasn't looking at the road because I couldn't turn down the volume on my radio or adjust the air conditioning"

Everyone should write the manufacturer’s telling them they will not purchase there cars when we get back to normal after getting screwed by their dealers. I hope these stealerships starve.

I watch your channel from time to time and had to comment on this video. I've been retired for awhile now but I was an automotive tech in Canada and spent most of my 33 years at dealerships. Regarding your Hyundai experience, you were upset that the PDI and cleanup took too long. I understand you waited at the dealer while this was done. You also stated that you would have taken the car as is without the PDI. First of all, the PDI is a critical part of getting the vehicle ready for delivery to the customer. While rare, problems do occur with new cars, hence the PDI. After the PDI, the vehicle goes to the wash rack where it's de-waxed, washed and detailed. This can take awhile done properly. I worked for high end Porsche/ Jaguar dealers , VW/Audi and Subaru. Believe it or not, the cheaper the car the fussier the customer. Try delivering a base model Subaru that's not perfect after the customer has beat the salesman up for three weeks to get free floor mats! I don't know how dealers work in the US and times have certainly changed but I suspect the Hyundai dealer felt the pressure to get your car ready and surprise, you weren't happy when you took delivery. No car ever left a dealer I worked at without a proper PDI and was spotless for the customer, whether a $100000 Porsche 928 or a lowly Subaru Loyale. Deliver a car with problems and watch the fireworks. Dealer markups are nothing new either. New model means buyers lined up to get theirs first. Old news. As long as buyers put up with markups and pay, the dealers have no incentive to change their ways. Lots of stupid consumers out there willing to pay to have the first one on their block. I like your channel and appreciate your hard work to make it possible.

How to not get screwed buying a new car today: Simple, just Don't buy anything that you CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT. Maintain your current vehicle until supply's become more normalized. If everyone would do this, supply problems would start clearing up much sooner.

Easy… just don’t buy a new vehicle for now and let the market normalize.

That's just not realistic. People don't only buy vehicles for kicks, some buy them for need. new Drivers entering market, new requirements, family expanding, hobby growth. I had to buy this year as my vehicle was totaled. bought a F150 Hybrid. Only got 1500 off Sticker. Which I thought was good in this market. In the past I have never gotten less than 5-10k off . But thems the breaks

@@jameshalbirt5807 in that case buy from the used market, no need to buy new unless you absolutely have to. Either way I would never consider MSRP a starting point for price negotiations. If you can’t get a dealer to work close to invoice then move on to another dealer because you will be hard pressed to sell or trade that vehicle a few years down the road and not still owe money.

@@moparmuscle278 how does that help, used cars are also exploded in price? All vehicles are up. Also , if you need repairs, all shops are backed up, and have raised prices. Ford never did massive mark downs on F150 in Texas anyways. They’re number 1. Ram did. But the closest ram was actually more expensive.

@@moparmuscle278 I don’t think I’ll be upside down. I only financed 1/2 the money. Plus, I don’t sell cars, or trade them. I have a ranch and it becomes a ranch truck once I’m done with it. And after the floorboards go , it’s a hunting truck, then after that it’s scrap

@@jameshalbirt5807 Of course if you keep it you don't have to worry about the depreciation. If you are willing to to take the initial hit with these inflated prices and you have no choice then that's life unfortunately. I was simply pointing out options for those who don't need to buy now and if you did you still have other options. None of which are as favorable as they would have been just two years ago of course.

followers!! Don't let the beautiful pictures confuse you . Anyone who
buys a new car from GENERAL Motors the chance you threw your money into

the company's management does not care at all, if you have a problem or a
malfunction, you can only pray to God there is a chance that the help
will come faster. GM is a very dangerous company, be careful and keep
