- German Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck has spoken out emphatically against antisemitism in Germany and, in particular, the escalation in hate crimes since the Israel-Hamas war began.
In a video posted online, the Green Party politician defended Israel's security as an integral part of Germany's own existence as a nation, adding that Germany's responsibility for the Holocaust meant it was essential that Jews should be able to live "freely and safely in Germany, that they never have to be afraid again to show their religion, their culture; but this exact fear is now back."

I don't understand why the whole video message isn't available on DW with english subtitles or translation. The very purpose of DW English is to broadcast and report on German standing points, not to interpret, bagatellise or relativise them. It is important to inform the rest of the world and for viewers with german heritage who didn't have the opportunity to learn German. The full video by vice Chancellor Habeck is available now with English/Hebrew/Arabic subtitles on the youtube channel of the Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz.
It is now. With english, arabic and hebrew translation.

If there is one responsibly it’s not to let another nation go down the same path Germany did a century ago. tick tock, time is running out Germany. stand or fall to the same mistakes.
While Germany has historical responsibility it's important not to overcompensate. Germany has the right to look after its interests but doing the right thing matters.
Exactly
The right thing is to stand up against antisemitism and to crack down on terrorism in the EU.
I am astonished how much Germany takes historical responsibility for what happened during WW2 while terrorist Turkey does not even recognize the genocide of Armenians during WW1.

What kind of Greens are they? Where are the times when the Greens were thoughtful, environment oriented and pro peace party?
They are not "green", rather a centrist political party supporting unlimited economic growth and extension of coal production, quite much involved in green colonial discourses abroad and warmongering at home, famous for their empty green promises but full support for the US and Israeli politics (even when it's similar to the politics of their main domestic enemy, far right Alternative for Germany). Oh, yes, and a lot of political correctness, very ignorant and anti-intellectual figures, and of course, as you can see, a lot of collective guilt about the evil-doing of their evil grandparents.

It should be added that "diversity" in Germany essentially means the inclusion of white upper-middle class women into the white collar executive level. THANK YOU!! Herr Robert Habeck, Absolutely, the statement "Contextualization must not lead to relativization" underscores the importance of considering the context in which actions, decisions, or events occur without using context as a justification for moral relativism.
In other words, while context is crucial for understanding complex issues and making informed judgments, it does not absolve individuals or groups from adhering to fundamental ethical and moral principles. It's essential to acknowledge that some actions, regardless of context, may be inherently wrong or unacceptable from a moral standpoint.
Balancing contextualization with a commitment to ethical and moral principles is essential for making fair and responsible judgments, especially in complex and nuanced situations. It allows for a deeper understanding of actions or events while maintaining a foundation of universal values and ethical standards.
Harassment and hostility of Qatari in their offices??????????????
Palestine has its own land, Israel has its own.
On November 19, 2003, the UN Security Council, by resolution 1515, approved the peace plan "road map", developed by international mediators - the United States, Russia, the UN and the European Union. The document provided for a phased resolution of the conflict and the creation of an independent Palestinian state.
In 2005, Israel implemented a program of unilateral disengagement with the Palestinians - 8.5 thousand Israelis were evacuated from all settlements in the Gaza Strip and four settlements in the northern part of the West Bank.
The Israeli army also left the Gaza Strip.
But when in 2006 Hamas came to power in Palestine, it abandoned all previously reached Palestinian-Israeli agreements because it believed that there should be only one state - Palestine, and Israel should be destroyed. Hamas began to carry out terrorist attacks against Israel and its only goal is the destruction of the state of Israel, which is what Hamas does.
Gaza has been turned by Hamas militants into a heavily fortified base for terrorist attacks on Israel.
Hamas did not come to power in Palestine, Hamas has never controlled the West Bank. The West Bank has been under the administrative control of the Palestinian Authority (PA), which is dominated by the Fatah political party, not Hamas. Although there are Hamas supporters and members in the West Bank, the administrative control has been consistently under the Palestinian Authority since its creation after the Oslo Accords in the mid-1990s.
The expulsion you're referring to in 2006 is actually related to the Gaza Strip, not the West Bank. In 2005, under Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's unilateral disengagement plan, Israel withdrew all of its settlers-around 8,500 people-from the Gaza Strip and dismantled the four settlements in the northern West Bank.
While the disengagement from Gaza did indeed reduce the overall number of settlers in the Palestinian territories at that time, it did not have a lasting impact on the trend of settlement growth in the West Bank. The number of settlers in the West Bank has continued to increase since 2000. After the disengagement from Gaza, some resources and efforts that had been directed toward the Gaza settlements were redirected to the West Bank, and growth in settlements there has persisted.
Hamas didnt come to power like a Jack in a box 2006. Are you the only one who doesn't know that it was the Israelis who enabled Hamas to take control over Gaza to divide and wreak havok.

Hamas puts out claimed death tolls among Palestinians in three categories: total, children and women. The U.S. government disputes the figures, and for good reason, since Hamas has a long history of lying about casualties.
But even if their figures were accurate, they hide the relevant truth: how many of the dead were active Hamas terrorists? How many were directly complicit in terrorism? How many were vocal supporters of Hamas terrorism? How many 14-, 15-, 16- and 17-year olds, who Hamas counts as “children,” were in fact combatants or accessories? How many women were Hamas accessories?
How many were killed by misfiring terrorist rockets, as in the hospital parking lot? How many of those killed by Israeli fire are really totally innocent civilians, such as the very young children whose bodies Hamas eagerly displays on television? What are the actual percentages?
