Obviously my videos are made for entertainment purposes, do this stuff at your own risk.
Actually using this as a mouse trap would be too risky. a trip line is pretty indiscriminate to what will set it off. This was just a casual idea i thought I would make for the fun of the build. However it is effective for eliminating polystyrene.
Also, ironically one of my motives for looking at different ways traps could be made was to find a more humane method to remedy my rat problem as conventional mouse traps and baits can be pretty bad in this regard - slow painful way to go :-( obviously in the end this trap probably wouldn't be much better.

It's actually Japanese on the chopsticks wrapper which says おてもと (Otemoto) which is a very polite way to say chopsticks in Japanese.

@@Turnah81 Well, I'm not a Japanese native, but I believe take out the O, leaving Temoto, makes it a little less polite.
However, Otemoto means for your honorable hand, which is usually used by restaurants to sound extremely polite to their customers.
In daily life, most people go completely commoner and just call it はし (Hashi).
By the way, I hear you use the term sweet as, I thought that's a Kiwi thing?
I remember reading a book in high school that had something like this but with a shotgun shell. To deture a person from going deeper into a residence.

Yeah I was wondering how this might go. I'll need heaver bands and holding bar. might get to the limits of the rat trap though. It already occasionally pulls the staples out of the wood.

I was using a tool yesterday and gave the saw blade a de-rusting treatment which is why it is so familiar to me. If you see this comment, drop me a reply and I will get the details off the machine and post them up for you.

I havnt tried it. Too much chance of it getting a native bird in my in my scenario. Plus I don't think it would be a humane death in reality. Just a fun build project
