  • Vietnamese Iced Coffee - Lee's vs. homemade ~ hope you enjoy!
i've always loved everything about Vietnamese Iced Coffee. its SUPER strong, SUPER sweet and hits all the right spots. in the past i've always just bought the Lee's pre-made bottles but i thought it was time i finally got my own filter. but i couldn't just stop there, i had to put lee's coffee up to the test and compare it side by side with a ✨fresh✨ cup of cafe sua da.
homemade vietnamese iced coffee is fairly simple, it just takes a little bit of patience and practice but so worth it
phin filter (vietnamese coffee filter) - amzn.to/3devzTr
cafe du monde coffee - amzn.to/3aYEvLv
sweetened condensed milk in a squeeze bottle - amzn.to/3ecaKsw
*dont drink too much at once. it’s super addicting, i know

Been waiting on a video like this.
I’m not Vietnamese, but that’s my favorite ice coffee. Thank you!

Of all the iced coffee out there from Starbucks, Coffee Bean, McDonald's (barf), Dunkin', and countless other small local shops, NONE keep me coming back like a large Lee's iced coffee! I need to learn how to make it because it's getting so damn expensive constantly buying an iced coffee at Lee's lol.

You should put a metal spoon into the glass if you are pouring a hot liquid onto ice. The rapid temperature change can break the glass!

i've had the cafe sua da at Lee's and it's delicious. The frozen bottle is a concentrate, and you're supposed to mix it with other stuff per the directions (i add milk) but i do like it too

I thought you were supposed to wet it to bloom and then screw on the strainer and then pour the water 🤔

Thanks for your video. I've tried Lee's and Highland Coffee *canned* 'Cà Phê Sữa', but preferred the Highlands Coffee product. Unfortunately, both servings seemed quite small, plus both don't come close to the flavor and intensity of Vietnamese coffee freshly made in a phin using 'Trung Nguyen - Premium Blend' coffee, which is a blend of Arabica, Robusta, Excelsa and Catimore beans.
Your link to a phin filter currently points to 'Torani - English Toffee Syrup'.
Given the time it takes to make Vietnamese Coffee, plus the small coffee results some phin filters produce, I'd say invest in a larger phin.
    AMT Supply - 9.5oz or 13.5oz
Gladiator - 8oz or 15oz, though they also make 4 cup and 6 cup pots for large groups.
Nguyen Coffee Supply - 12oz or 28oz (for multiple servings)
    Tantiendat - 8oz, 11oz, 15oz
    Thang Long - 8oz, 11oz, 15oz
I've tried a generic 4oz phin, an 8oz Thang Long phin and an 11oz Tantiendat phin, but it wasn't entirely clear which phin had the best quality. I almost liked the generic one better, since it only had three, instead of four parts, but most likely will use the 11oz Tantiendat phin when making Vietnamese Coffee.

I have the same filter and whenever I tighten the inner filter part, it doesn't drip fast enough. So I try not to tighten it too much or else i will be waiting all day for it to drip. I feel like it takes a bit of practice to figure out how tight or loose to screw the inner part.
Or maybe its just me and I dont know what Im doing lol

I have a phin like yours. I use 60g of coffee. Usually the Cafe du Monde, but the Nguyen robusta when I can find it for a decent price. It's so good but almost double the price of Cafe du Monde.

So,what ya know about the Coffee Soda?
Mixed with either Tonic Water or Perrier.
Almost reminds me of "Nitro coffee."
Found a place outside San Antonio that carries it.
    Its on now!

Did you buy the sweetened condensed milk squeeze bottle inside lee's store or did you buy it at a asian supermarket?

i got it at an asian grocery story! but i linked another option for the sweetened condensed milk in a squeeze bottle that isn’t lee’s in the description box!

  • @lumberchicken007

You’ll get better at making these as you gain more experience. Even the brand of condensed milk used can change the flavor. I tried Lee’s sandwich shop last week, and it’s slightly adulterated regarding the #11. I would rather go to one of the sandwich shops that skirt or bends the health code in order the get a great sandwich.

that’s definitely possible with the amount of coffee ground i put in! i’ve actually tried that and it makes me 2 perfectly strong cups. but def wouldn’t recommend drinking that much vietnamese iced coffee
