    It’s oddly comforting to know I’m not the only one who thinks working in a daycare is so exhausting, it’s very very tiring for sure. I open at the daycare I work at and get out at like 1-2 and there are days where I’ll take a nap for like 3-4 hours afterwards and my mom always gets mad when I do that 😂 but it’s SO TIRING FOR REAL

    Girl you are doing the most!! I have done the exact same for 16 years at my center. I’ve been in childcare for over 25 years now. Please do yourself a ginormous favor and get out while you are young! A childcare businesses will take full advantage of your heart, mind, and health! Don’t fall into the trap. They will take every last beautiful sparkling speck of magic that you have ever possessed into their greedy paws and blow it straight down the drain. That sunshine that is in you right now that makes you glow like warm honey in the summer....they will steal it without you even noticing. If you take my advice now it will save your life! Kids get worse each year bc of the severe lack of parenting. A business is just that a business. Look at all you do each day! By 730am you’ve ran LAPS around most. Please realize that as of right now, fast food service is paying more than a place that is supposed to love, care for, and shape the hearts and minds of our children. That IS SCARY! Much love and luck to you!!

      Yes. I just left after a month( taught for 30 yrs). The school age blend is toxic. I had 4-5 five yr olds and two autistic kids and a few quiet girls. The autistic boys were like 3 kids on their own and the 5 yr olds could do anything as my attention was not always on them. The quiet girls were targets and could never enjoy 10 mins of peace. Felt like abuse from the minute I punched in. Left, happy, whole, healing. ❤️‍🩹

    It's interesting that the look on your face and the faces of my new coworkers at the daycare I just started at is the same. You all look tired, drained and like you hate your job. I'm sure I looked like that too at the end of my first day today! It's hard to smile when you're exhausted. I don't know how long I'll last doing this tbh. I was pretty optimistic before starting but now that I've had an idea of what it's like to work at a daycare, I'm really doubting whether I can handle it. I'll give it a good trial though.

      How did you go, did you end up sticking to it? I’m thinking of doing a cert III in Early Childhood Education but as someone who is easily overwhelmed I’m not sure it’s such a good idea 😓

    • @tigresmom5654
      @tigresmom5654 Год назад +1

      @gardeniaswildatyourfeet I only lasted a couple of weeks. It was so hard, but that's because the daycare I was at was understaffed, and there were just too many kids. I was sometimes put in charge of over 10 school-age kids by myself! I don't know how teachers do it. You don't have to work in a daycare if you get certified. You can work at an elementary school and have aides assigned to you to help, especially if you work at a spec needs preschool. You'll have paras to help you. Spec needs kids are more adorable imo 😊 Also, my friend has the same degree as the one you're thinking of getting, and she works in a preschool where the moms come and stay with their kids the whole time. So yeah, there's options if you're easily overwhelmed. I get easily overwhelmed, too. Have you worked as an aide in a preschool before? If not, try it out. It'll give you a good idea of what to expect.

      Move to Australia our ratios are 1 educator to 4 kids for under 2yrs, 1 to 5 for two to three years and 1 to 10 for over 3 years. If the staff isn’t there children have to be sent home or the centre closes for the day. As educators are so hard to find our wages have increased drastically, I have my diploma which took me 12 months to do part time and I get $40 an hour permanent part time rate.
      I find it hard with the increase in children on the autism spectrum and parents in denial. Years ago you might have one challenging child in a room now there are many!
