  • We are headed over to grab a wheel line sprinkler ahead of the big burn. Hoping it will help drought proof the ranch for the future.

I used to put those together in high school, they're fuuuuun!😂 This country needs to learn how to actually take care of our ranchers and farmers. If everyone wants to eat better and healthier it starts here.

Divert the water from the creek into a holding pond and pump from there. If the creek is small it will be extremely hard to get consistent water pressure & volume. Plus you will be able to hold some water when it gets dry

Another great video. Burning off the stubble is far preferable to spraying hundreds of gallons of Roundup for early spring planting weed control.

In this video the winds were too strong for burning. In NM we can't do any open burning if the wind is over 10 MPH. Now the whole State is under a Fire weather watch. Sucks as I have been needing to burn an area since September 2023. We have a "burn" telephone number we have to call first. The black burnt stuff is really good for the next growth cycle. Check out what Bio-Char is.

They used to burn the rice fields here in the Sacramento Valley, boy the valley would fill with smoke for weeks. They banned it years ago.

You answered my question ! I was going to say 125k to run 3 phase I would talk to your buddy Humter and pick up 2 or 3 good used military generators and use that for power . You can get them at a really good price and they are pre emissions crap . I know a couple guys that have bought them and love them

When I was a young buck about 50 years ago I grew up in Jerome Idaho and every morning before school and after school I would move 4 inch hand lines in the soybean fields. It was never any fun.

A diesel water pump? Jax is good at finding diesel tractors for over the road. Find one that is not road worthy and make a water pump out of it. First Montana Rancher/Farmer with a 10 or 18 speed diesel powered water pump. The lower the RPM the more fuel savings, right? Betcha Heavy D couldn't think of that idea!
When I was young and lived on a ranch, we had to move those pipes (2-8 year old kids, one on each end to carry), but ours didn't have wheels. They had a latch on 2 sides to connect them and a rubber hose adapter that hooked up to an electric pump.

The practice of burning fields/grasslands dates back centuries or more. The plains indians would use it to clear brush and encourage specific species to regrow after the burning. So it's a concept that dates back hundreds if not thousands of years. And with those small quick burns like you were doing, it doesn't kill off all the roots and seeds under the soil like a bigger wildfire can.

That makes me want steak and vegetables. Millenial Farmer is trying to plant but it keeps raining there, he's growing E85 and beans. Are you planting soon? Farmers Almanac is calling for a hot summer and normal to low rainfall for whatever thats worth. September looks like it will be apocalyptic.
I know where you can get some massive water storage containers. As soon as the Japanese finish dumping the radioactive water into the ocean. I'll get grief for saying that...

20kw 3phase generator mounted on the power unit for where you can not get 3 phase 100hp runs the generator and pulls a 12" turbine well very easily here on a 1320ft pivot but we have a great aquafier. Pivots still suck nothing beats laser graded land nothing. also a T & L pivot is hydraulic driven no electric required just lots and lots of hydralic hoses

This was a few years back I burned my Hay field off and my house maid came and told me the rental lady told her she thought she was going to heaven that day she said the man went all around that field setting fire to it it went racing across the field 30 feet tall all of a sudden in the middle of the field it went out with a great cloud of smoke lifting up in the air the maid said don't worry about him he knows what he's doing the lady said I sure though I was going to heaven today never seen such a thing like that. LOL.
