Wow; I loved this miniseries back in the day. If it hasn't been released on DVD, it should be. I also love going to outdoor band concerts in the summertime, and they play 2 or 3 marches at each concert. I think they should add this one to their repertoire!
There is a scene where he shows up to dinner at a restaurant. The love interest looks at him and tells him she understands how hard it was for him to come today. He assumes its because she is rich and he is a raisin farmer. She corrects him and says "No. You had to wear a shirt."
The viewing public didn't get it. It was too good. We would call it a dramedy today. When they brought it back as a rerun (to try it again) they added a laugh track. Too intelligent for the average viewer.

As a kid I remember loving the theme music so much I had to tape record it. How times have changed.
This was genious!
Gregory Harrison is still gorgeous! :)
Was it Carol's idea to hire a full--range orchestra for this film (well, she did have one on her hit long-running series)? Barry Kemp's?
@roy kassinger Besides, John Morris' score fell into line with "Blazing Saddles."
Nice one, I like it
Kramer ?
Was Gregory Harrison always shirtless on this show

To me this was absolutely funny, would liken the style of humour to that of Curb Your Enthusiasm
I think this would have worked better as a two hour movie instead of a mini-series; it was simply too much.
