I can't believe that this film will be 40 years old this year. The themes are still timeless, and many people who are currently in high school can still relate to the issues of being a teenager that are addressed here.
I graduated in 1986 from GBN where exterior shots of Ferris Bueller was filmed. I remember this being shot at Maine North just a few miles south of where I lived in Northbrook and me and my friends would regularly go by the old high school to try and get a glimpse of the fun.
Brian Johnson: "Dear Mr. Vernon, we accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it was we did wrong. But we think you're crazy to make us write an essay telling you who we think we are. You see us as you want to see us - in the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us is a brain... Andrew Clark: ...and an athlete... Allison Reynolds: ...and a basket case... Claire Standish: ...a princess... John Bender: ...and a criminal. Brian Johnson: Does that answer your question? Sincerely yours, the Breakfast Club."
The breakfast club vhs tape says, "Don't you forget about me Minty!" Minty replies ," I haven't mate, I'm doing a ten things about you." The breakfast club vhs tape swoons,"Minty kiss me you fool!" Minty brightens ," Okay... But i won't take off my glasses"
I love this movie for so many reasons. I was at that the right age when it was becoming a classic. I’m from the Chicagoland area. John Hughes was truly a gem and he is missed. Thank you for doing this Minty.
I was the perfect age for this, being in the later part of my sophomore year when it released. You could tell that the movie did "get us". I liked but didn't love the movie and didn't feel compelled to really watch it again. I was a dad when I finally give it another viewing and I could identify with the adults far more than the main characters. Inevitable, I suppose.
John was able to capture teen angst. I have a feeling that this movie would relate to all teens of every generation, even thousands of years ago. What a great time to be growing up and sharing these types of movies. When his movies came on tv we all watched them my relatives and family. I wish I had a large family to share this type of stuff with now that I have the money to splurge in audio and video. It's just me, my cats, dogs and various girlfriends lol
The old high school is now the Illinois State Police station, so if you planned to visit it for nostalgic reasons like I did a couple years ago, it makes for a different experience seeing it full of cameras and cop cars.
Movies are at their best when they are not just mindless entertainment. Movies that people can relate to and learn from contribute a little bit to our overall growth, few movies did that better than The Breakfast Club.
John Hughes is a true director from the 80's. The breakfast club is a good movie. Universal wasn't sure about the director. Hughes did a good job. Emilio estevez and Molly ringwald to name few of the actors. This movie tells the story of a group of teenagers at morning detention. Teenagers with adulthood down the road. It can be scary. If you think about it. Thank you for another great video Minty. I do like your channel.
I knew Judd Nelson was acting the part a little too well...lol, so he never broke character even off screen!; The janitor actor making a reference to Emilio's dad to combat him was intriguing. I wonder if Emilio told him; I'd like to see the longer version of the film.
I was 15 when the movie was released. It spoke to my soul. I Loved it. And years later, my kids love this movie too. Well maybe “like” is more the word I guess.😊
Speaking about raunchy teen movies...how about American Pie? Interested in your take on that. Being a band nerd myself in my younger years, I can testify about that 'one time, at band camp' quote, it gets, exciting, at times 😉
One of my favorite movies of all time, but also a tragic movie when you think about it. Bender goes back home to get more physical abuse he and his mother suffer at the hands of his father
I remember I was a kid catching this movie on TV one day and I didn't realize that nothing was going to happen until about an hour and a half into the film. I just didnt realize it was that kind of movie lol.
Hell, when I was a kid in school in the late 60's thru the 70's we called early detention a "sunrise." Yeah, The Sunrise Club just doesn't have the ring either. lol.
If only he had thought to put both films in the same school. All they needed to do was maybe have Grace the secretary in both films and maybe some Save Ferris graffiti in the halls.
I remember the 1st time I seen it, I stumbled across it on TV 1 night and I'd never heard of it before and I was thinking what's this it's brilliant and like millions of other young lads back then I proper got a crush on Molly Ringwald 😍🤣🤣🤣
I want an alternate universe version of this movie with the cast of RED DAWN instead as the teens and the principal is played by the scary Russian moustache guy.
For the dude NOT to know sheen was estevezes father would be moronic. They were mirror images of each other. There is even a parody in one of those silly movies where they pass each other in a pt boat in a river in Vietnam and look at each other like they are having an out of body experience.
@PeterRichardsandYoureNot The parody movie was Hot Shots and that was Charlie Sheen who passed his father in the boat saying to one another I loved you in Wall Street.
I prefer Sixteen Candles than The Breakfast Club. I could watch Sixteen Candles over and over again. The Breakfast Club, not so much. To me it's a very boring movie. Sixteen Candles is never boring to watch.
In 2016, The Breakfast Club was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". The film has been considered as one of the best films of the 1980s, and one of the best teen films of all time.
John Hughes was truly the king of 80's teen cinema. His films didn't preach or talk down to teenagers, but really understood them and their problems.
Play the skeletor doesn't have butt cheeks. Oh never mind.
Absolutely ❤❤ I’ve watched his movies so many times!! Brilliant

minty on a roll lately!

I crushed on Sheedy so hard when I saw this... and not the end Sheedy. She was super cute.
A great 80's film automatically qualifies it as a all time classic.
Sheedy was right, her character was 10 x cuter before the insipid makeover.
I completely agree. The one single thing I don't like about this film. Its still a classic though.
Absolutely. Possibly started that whole trope of nerdy/weird girl takes off her glasses or lets down her hair and she's suddenly cute

I knew that entire closing letter by heart as a preteen, and sometimes, it still comes back into my memory.
Happy New Year Minty and viewers :)
You know you're getting old when you were 21 years old when this film 🎥 first came out , lol ❤ from teesside 🏴
THIS is a generation defining movie for Gen x!
It is remarkable that this movie does not look dated, apart from the teacher who raided Barry Manilow's wardrobe.
Lol 😂❤ from teesside 🏴
I read somewhere that Ally Sheedy is a vegetarian and the Cap 'n' Crunch and Pixie Stix sandwich that she made actually made her sick.
The breakfast club vhs tape says, "Don't you forget about me Minty!"

Not detention, but "Saturday School", which was way worse back in the 90's!

RUclips detention? Is that better than Facebook jail?😂😂
Great video 📹 👍 👏
John Hughes did a brilliant job on directing this 80's classic film. 😀👍
An absolute star-studded cast whose careers skyrocketed afterwards.
They say The Breakfast Club and Ferris Bueller's Day off are set in the same high school, but then so is Weird Science.
I did do a fun band photoshoot where we kind of had a breakfast club theme despite it being out doors
I am saving this until later tonight....................
I still wear fingerless gloves due to this film.
The old high school is now the Illinois State Police station, so if you planned to visit it for nostalgic reasons like I did a couple years ago, it makes for a different experience seeing it full of cameras and cop cars.
One of the most iconic movies the 80s
It was the song that introduced me to the movie; Simple Minds were huge after that track.
I want to know 10 things we didn't know about Minty
DOPE VIDEO MINTY! THANKS.
The part about the janitor not knowing Emilio was Sheen's son just makes the interaction that much funnier
Here are your seven words you LEGEND
One of the most iconic Films of the best Decades Ever.
My all time favorite movie, there were a few scenes that came out on the TV release. And I hate they aren't in the movie on physical copy.
Minty mentioned a Criterion Collection edition that included a lot of the deleted scenes.
That's the coach from The Mighty Ducks.
No it's Billy the kid 😉😁
Looks like an Outsider.
@@BoopedNosethat's the best $1.80 I ever spent hahaha.
Emilio Esteves Sheen
@thisisnotachannel I couldn't remember his name lol.
Good job here bud. Keep it goin
“What if your home, what if your family, what if your dope was on fire?”
“Impossible sir, its in Johnsons underwear.”
Classic movie
Great movie 🎥 😊

The Breakfast Club will be 40 years old this year
Yummy one, Minty. 😉
Would the second movie be called “Lunch Bunch”?
I mean if they were meeting up later on. Maybe Brunch Bunch.
I knew Judd Nelson was acting the part a little too well...lol, so he never broke character even off screen!; The janitor actor making a reference to Emilio's dad to combat him was intriguing. I wonder if Emilio told him; I'd like to see the longer version of the film.
Is one of my favorites movies I watch it every 25 of Diciembre as a tradition from 25 years
I want to talk about something I have already 😆 How about Tales from the dark side, or White men can't jump, or 3 Ninjas, or Meteor man, or..
Oh man, another one where im not necessarily watching for 10 things i personally didn't know, but in fact making sure Minty didn't miss anything.
Still 1 of my top 5 all time favorite movies ❤❤❤❤
I was 15 when the movie was released. It spoke to my soul. I Loved it. And years later, my kids love this movie too. Well maybe “like” is more the word I guess.😊
I think my favorite actor in this is John Kapelos. He's such an underrated character actor.
Great video
So warm and beautiful movie!
I was 28 in 1985. My high school life was different but I love this movie. I identify with Allison the most.
Speaking about raunchy teen movies...how about American Pie? Interested in your take on that. Being a band nerd myself in my younger years, I can testify about that 'one time, at band camp' quote, it gets, exciting, at times 😉

Where are these low budget films these days, I miss 80’s cinema
The Breakfast Club beats all other movies of today.
The sandwich meat that was thrown onto the sculpture was olive loaf. I can't find olive loaf at the deli any more.
One of my favorites.
Hi Minty... one thing you didnt mention that I think is note worthy is that the movie was filmed sequentially which is not usual .
Hell, when I was a kid in school in the late 60's thru the 70's we called early detention a "sunrise." Yeah, The Sunrise Club just doesn't have the ring either. lol.
#11 Judd nelson was the voice of Hotrod in the animated Transformers movie.
Another good movie that I haven't watched yet.
Love this movie ❤❤❤❤❤
Probably number 5 on his list
If only he had thought to put both films in the same school. All they needed to do was maybe have Grace the secretary in both films and maybe some Save Ferris graffiti in the halls.
You end your episodes with “I’m Minty”. Is Minty an adjective or a proper name?
I remember the 1st time I seen it, I stumbled across it on TV 1 night and I'd never heard of it before and I was thinking what's this it's brilliant and like millions of other young lads back then I proper got a crush on Molly Ringwald 😍🤣🤣🤣
I want an alternate universe version of this movie with the cast of RED DAWN instead as the teens and the principal is played by the scary Russian moustache guy.
This is my second favorite 80's movie of all time after FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF 😁😁😁😏
Does that mean Estevez really taped Larry Lester's buns together?
I always ove the name recognition when I watch these movies....lol
Ty!!!
Please do French Lieutenants Woman or at least Howards End please Minty
I still know it word for word 😂
"coming of age" has never, ever sounded right
Minty, review 3 Ninjas (1992)!!
I've seen this movie a 100 times
That's another one. I got you for the rest of your natural born life. 🤟
It's a classic. Teenagers of today should watch it...
I have it on VHS and DVD.
Minty! Do some kinda wonderful!!
Rick Moranis got suckerpunched 4 years ago. I wonder if that's what Minty was referring to??
DO MEGAFORCE!! lol
If you have to talk about a Chuck Norris film, pick Code of Silence.
👍👍👍🎥
I enjoy your ahow

The Breakfast Club cool
I thought you did this before…?
Awwwwwhhhhh!!!😮😮😮
I don't know who keeps giving you copyright strikes but you need to find out who that is and make friends with them. They are clearly targeting you.
March 24th is my birthday
❤
Reupnose😂
I prefer Sixteen Candles than The Breakfast Club. I could watch Sixteen Candles over and over again.
The Breakfast Club, not so much. To me it's a very boring movie. Sixteen Candles is never boring to watch.
996👍
Ferris Bueller is the better movie.
In 2016, The Breakfast Club was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". The film has been considered as one of the best films of the 1980s, and one of the best teen films of all time.
