I've been testing the Elgato HD60 X today. it works really well, but further tests will have to wait until I get the official cable. #shorts #elgato #hd60x
My full review of the Elgato HD60 X came nearly two years after I bought it, but I've finally published it at ruclips.net/video/thX4V_hhO1c/видео.htmlsi=peVHmqo1hXqzeM2l Be sure to check it out and stay tuned for my review of the Elgato 4K X and Elgato 4K Pro.
Keep in mind if you want to pass through 120hz you will need to purchase a 8k hdmi to display port adapter to your monitor unless your monitor supports 120hz through hdmi
Is there a way where I can just use one HDMI cable from my video card to the Elgato HD60 X and then just the USB cable into a USB 3.0 port on my computer? So the USB cable carries the signal into OBS Studio so I don't have to use passthrough?
Hi Kevin, what laptop would you recommend for using the Elgato? Is there any reasonably priced? As I'm thinking of starting of with the HD60S+ capture device, then in future upgrading to the HD60X. Look forward to the review of the HD60X. 👍
There's so many factors to consider when choosing a laptop such as budget, display, performance, noise, ports etc. It also depends on your recording setup. I connect multiple Elgato capture devices so I use a desktop PC. A key thing to understand is bandwidth. Video capture devices tend to use a lot of bandwidth, which can create problems when connecting other cameras and devices. If you're only connecting the Elgato and a webcam, a good octocore windows laptop with many USB ports would be good.
Fuck I just use my Samsung chromebook with the camera app and it runs great, but that's the HD60 S+ I just got my console back from Microsoft for a warranty repair because the HD60X totalled my GPU
Haha it does get tough once you reach a certain point. I did have it tidy at one point, but wrapping every cable made it harder to make quick changes to the setup.
The official sales page has recommended requirements for using the capture card. The capture card itself doesn't need much to work and could work with even basic laptops. The real factor will be what you are recording, what bit rate, resolution and frame rate you are recording at. That will influence your laptop purchase more. 👍
Hey bro I sold my pc last year and my elgato HD60 s+ :( but I want to get back into RUclips but I don’t know what laptop or pc or desktop to get that’s affordable and will do the job , all I want to do is record my ps5 gameplay and edit or livestream all while my elgato is connected and ps5 is connect
Hey Jordan. You ideally want an 6 or 8 core computer, or higher. It all comes down to what you're recording. Even a cheap laptop can handle OBS recording at low resolutions. Going from 720p to 1080p recording requires more CPU and GPU power. Going to 1440 or 4K requires more power. Increasing frame rate and bit rates (quality) all require more power. It's not something I actively monitor myself as my desktop PC handles OBS with ease. With my old laptop, I do need to reduce my resolution and quality.
Hey hope your well I am having issues with hd60x everything is connect properly and all my drivers are up to date my only issue is after awhile on one or stream labs the game freezes is there an fix for this or no?
You can with some resolutions. Check out help.elgato.com/hc/en-us/articles/5293283235469-Elgato-Game-Capture-HD60-X-Supported-Resolutions for more details. This is something I discuss at length in my full review 👍
The original Xbox didn't have HDMI, but they introduced it with the elite (I believe). I think HDCP (copyright protection) was introduced because of netflix etc, but can't recall if that prevented games from being recorded. If so, you can navigate that with a component to HDMI adapter.
One thing to add. If you do a 1440/60 test again, open up task manager and check CPU, memory and GPU usage. Dropped frames could suggest that you're bottlenecking somewhere (it's usually the CPU). My main PC can easily stream most resolutions, whilst my laptop would probably top out at 720p as it has a ULV CPU .
Mmm I'm not sure. I've not seen that myself. If I ever run into any major issues, I switch from OBS to the official Elgato software and see if it's working ok. I'd stick with the official usb cable.
Heyy I just bought one yesterday and I’m having problems when I transfer my PlayStation 5 to the computer and when I plug everything in only works for a few seconds then it just stops working why do you think is that?
It could be an OBS settings problem. It could also be an issue with your PC settings or setup (e.g. your PC not having enough resources for what you're trying to output). What is the spec of your computer?
Yes it works great with cameras too. I use the 4K60 Pro, HD60 S+ and HD60 X, to record from my Sony cameras and my Panasonic. All of which I record at 4K.
@@andres2952 yes it will do the job. Avermedia have some good capture cards too. Beyond that, you need to look at more expensive options from companies like BlackMagic Design. It all comes down to the resolution and frame rate you want to record at.
I’m trying to use it to record my Mirrorless camera but it looks like crap, hdmi cables are legit, do i need a better usb c? Any advice? I’m about to return it.
The original USB cable should work fine. I'd try recording from another source, such as a video games console or other camera. That will help you rule out the capture card being the issue. If the capture card is recording footage correctly, it's probably your camera settings.
Unfortunately, they didnt. I asked for them to give me the correct cable or just give me a voucher for the equivalent price of me buying it myself. They refused and suggested just returning it. So I returned it and ended up buying it cheaper new.
@@KevinMuldoon dont take any garbage from them, when I want to trade something in they always downgrade it because of the most insignificant thing. Unless im absolutely happy its going back. @@INTHEARKADE Yeah they can be frustrating to deal with. In my last trip there, they downgraded 3 out of the 4 items so I sold them on eBay instead. Every item was in absolute mint condition with all original packaging and plastic bags etc. They told me something had to be like new, not used. I queried how that is possible when something is used. Similar issue when buying. Spent over a grand on a camera and the sensor was exposed and dirty (which can cost £50 to £150 to get cleaned professionally). They said it was still a grade. Then the next camera arrived with cables and other items missing...they still said it was A. So annoying.
Hey Kevin I bought the HD 60x yesterday and my recordings colours is sharp and bright but my the monitor that I play on the colours is wasted out please help
Hi SeeganPaul. I guess it depends on what you classify as a low end pc. As far as using elgato capture cards, you can use them with very basic computers. However, it's the recording software and recording format that will determine how powerful a PC you need. For example, if you have an extremely low end PC, you could still use OBS or Elgato's recording software to record or stream at 480p or possibly even 720p. If you want to move from 24/25/30 FPS to 60 FPS, you'll need more resources. If you want to move up to 1080p, you'll need more resources. And again if you move up to 1440p or 4K. When you encode using an application like OBS, you can the GPU to handle a lot of the encoding. The CPU still does a lot of work though.
It does as long as you use a suitable cable to output an HDMI signal. If you can connect an HDMI output to your TV correctly, it will work with a video capture device.
You should be able to do that with the right HDMI adapter for your mobile. As long as it receives an HDMI signal, the capture card doesn't care what the source is.
