“Forever Autumn” is not just a beautiful song, it is an incredible poetic expression as well. For me, the song has always tugged at my heart strings. I think great art not only appeals to your mind, but it also touches your heart and your soul too. “Forever Autumn”, the song, does that for me. It makes me think; it makes me feel and empathize with his plaintive grief and loss; it makes me visualize the setting he so profoundly paints with his images, metaphors, similes, and alliterative sounds; and the song makes me reflect about my own forever autumns. Very few (I can count them on one hand) songs are capable of eliciting this response from me. “Forever Autumn” is one of a select few.
Justin Hayward has written a lot of incredible songs, but few, if any, are better, deeper, and more mature than “Forever Autumn”.
Thank you to Justin and to all. I wish you well!

Forever Autumn" is a song written by Jeff Wayne, Gary Osborne and Paul Vigrass. The original melody was written by Wayne in 1969 as a jingle for a Lego commercial. Vigrass and Osborne, the performers of the original jingle, added lyrics to the song and recorded it for inclusion on their 1972 album Queues.

@@madpogue Hi, I’m so sorry to hear this sad news. Some songs have the ability to reach right into your heart and say exactly what you’re feeling at the time. You wonder, “How could someone else know what I’m feeling?” For me, there are only a few songs that have ever touched that spot deep inside of me.
I know there are no words that I can say to help you with your grief, but please know that I’ll say a prayer for you, as will others who read this.
If listening to “Forever Autumn” helps you with your grief, then that’s what you do.
I remember reading in Sports Illustrated in the 1990s about the wife of a Major League Baseball pitcher whose husband died in a horrific boating accident. She started each day by listening to Garth Brooks’s “The Dance”. That’s one of the ways she grieved and learned to cope.
Please feel free to write back and let me know how you’re doing.

Nice to see he can still sing like this. We saw him do this as part of a moody blues show in NYC in the 90s at Christmas time at the small theater within Madison Square Garden. He did a version of this w two guys on keyboard and him, not a dry eye in the house.

Justin has been a musical gift to the world for almost 60 years. I can’t think of anyone who has written and produced more beautiful music than him. Still going strong and as great as ever at a youthful 76. Thanks for all the memories Justin.

Loved War of the worlds by Jeff Wayne & this track was & remains an amazing piece of music which sadly reminds me of a childhood & a family I once had.

I’ve loved this song from the day it was released. And he still sounds as good today.
Props to the composer that wrote the lead flute line. Justin’s lyrics telling the story with the flute singing along is absolutely magic for me.

So simple...keyboard, flute, bass and Justin Hayward. Cant ask for anything more at all. Heavenly stuff this...Thank you Sir, from age 18 onwards (Days of Future Passed & Every Good Boy Deserves Favour and so many more) I am your fan and at 72, you still evoke that emotional response in me....Thank you.

Just a hauntingly beautiful song. It's every bit as powerful in this paired back arrangement as on the War of the Worlds album. All the better for the professional flautist, instead of a keyboard. How does Justin perform this song with dry eyes? I am weeping every time I hear it.
