So glad I found this. I planted celosia for the first time this year. They are a dark red/burgundy color. Absolutley beautiful! I'm not really a gardener, but, I am gonna try to save the seeds to have more next year and hopefully share them. Great job on the tutroial.
Hubby just bought me some of these flowers and they're so beautiful. I wanted to get some info on their care and your video pops up. Thank you very much for sharing this. I will definitely be harvesting them when they dry.
thanks Scott, yeah she was a good girl.. used to be our house cat but was outside full time.. wasn't fun to find her but things happen I guess.. you should try them they are easy and can handle some heat..
have you tried them? I doubt I will, i love their beauty and what they add to the gardens, they stay in full color all summer into fall, wouldn't think of eating them..
Those were some great tips on saving seeds. Love the screen trick...I learn so much from you. Thx! Sorry to hear about Chloe..She was so cute. I bet you miss her..Take care, Diane!
you know Jasmine I haven't done either... I would research on google and youtube see what you find.. would be interested to know.. I usually just buy the plant already growing in pots... never gave it a second thought.. hope you find some answers..:)
These are so beautiful!!! My fav color is RED, so of course I love them & hope to do a bed of these next season. Thanks for sharing this & all the rest with us. Take care. How is that new grandbaby?
hello, long time subbie here 😘😘😘 great video! I've been getting into gardening the past 3 years, 4 year this year(2017) & I'm always looking for New plants & new seeds! I didn't know these produced seeds!
Hi Steph, yes I just looked at the area they were planted in last year and a lot of little red seedlings are coming up.. omg I mean hundreds, so yes they seed.. thanks for stopping by..
I have my degree in Horticulture and out all of the vast knowledge of plants i know Celosia is by far my favorite plant. Last summer i had 50 pots in my small yard. As well as having them planted in every nook n cranny i could fit em. i have never experienced them self-seeding mite be due to the crappy natural soil in the ground. But thanks this year im harvesting all of em! Cant wait!
Hi from Perth,Australia Diane, thanks for sharing such a great video for us, I've learnt so much! I'm just slowly improving my gardening in our courtyard of potted plants, and Celosia are one of my new favourites. I had no idea I could harvest seeds from them! We are approaching winter here (41'F-72'F average for June, July, Aug for us here in winter) so I'll have to prepare myself for if mine don't survive. You have inspired me, thanks again and wish me luck (gorgeous kitties too!) -Q.
I just subscribed seeing your video For some reason I could buy different colors My question is , some flowers have bigger size than others, so if seeds come from smaller flowers, the size of the blooms will be smaller from smaller and bigger from bigger flowers I don’t know I can make you understand my question
I bought one today in the INDOOR section. I thought it strange looking for a houseplant, but couldn't resist the vivid purple cones. Anyway turns out it's an annual? Can I keep it on my west facing kitchen windowsill indoors? Double glazing and a lot of late- summer evening sun. 25 degrees, maybe a bit more. I live in the UK.
Thanks. It's doing well. Mornings and afternoons, east window. Evenings it gets the west window. Night, the living room. It's an exercise in plant care alright haha. My 29 plants and 35 cactus all love me. So far.
I just bought some pink ones from home Depot and I planted them into the ground.. so what I want to know do I plant these side by side.. it's spring time right now in GA for me right now. Please give me some tips for the ones that's being taking from the pot and plant in my flower bed. Would I have to but more since they don't grow like a bush
@@dianemummvideos I don't want an empty space but my husband don't want me to over crowd the space either and he don't want much flowers near the front door because he say it will bother his allergies
@@natashamitchell2904 I think it looks fine, but I wouldn't have anything go over the landscaping bricks as you want to see the bricks upright plants are better and give enough room from the brick ..
@@dianemummvideos so plant upright plants? If so what kind of plant would that be? Also do u think i have any room to plant some pink new Guinea anywhere at least two?
You're celosias are absolutely beautiful. Quick question...I bought one from a garden center for patio pot 2 years ago and when it dried out I threw it out in my rose garden and today I noticed a very large celosia growing through my rose.My question is if I plant some together will they reseed themselves without me doing any work?🌺 Thanks🌺
I don't understand how you guys worry about the " cold " when it's warmer, or the same as a Brit summer. Do your trees shed leaves for " winter " even at 41 - 72 Farenheit?
Hi! I wasn't sure where to go in the seed "section" to ask about Lilac seeds and where can I find them on a bush, also I wanted to know if you can propagate from Lilac bushes? You're always so helpful and any tips you've given me have worked! :)
My ex just bought me one of these and I love it... I live in Florida and I was wanting to grow some in the front yard under the tree was wondering if they do ok in shade?
Hi, I'm a student from Singapore studying about plant breeding and genetics and right now I'm doing a project on Celosia. Any idea what are the breeding methods that are done to produce the other varieties?
Hi Diane. Last year I left my Celosia 'New Look' go to seed. I is about 2" high and the leaves are still green. Do you think it reverted back to a plain Celosia or will the leaves turn dark after it gets more mature?
hi, thanks for your videos, they really helpful. i was given a Anthurium as a gift from a friend of mine and it was the first plant i ever toke care of and so far its going ok, haven't killed it yet (yaayy!!). I don't really have a garden so my plant(s) will be kept indoor near windows. Now my question is and I'm hoping you can still see my comment since this video was recorded a while ago; my question is can i grow Coleus or Cornflower or Celosia indoor? and what would you recommend for an indoor flower seed that can grow at anytime through the year and is as good as the once mentioned? (Live in UK, so the weather is not the best thing here). Thanks!
