  • Every Dragon snow goggle comes with their amazing Lumalens technology. Sunglass Rob and Dragon’s Jon Finger talk about every Lumalens offered so you can pick the right lens for the right weather conditions.
    The main difference between all these lenses is the visible light transmission (VLT). Typically, you want a lower VLT for brighter days and a higher VLT for low light.
    Lumalens:
    Gold Ion - 10% VLT
    Blue Ion - 15% VLT
    Silver Ion - 20% VLT
    Violet Purple Ion - 25% VLT
    Green Ion - 25% VLT
    Red Ion - 28% VLT
    Pink Ion - 60% VLT
    Yellow - 80% VLT
    Lumalens (Photochromatic) Transitions:
    Transitions Amber - 25% - 70% VLT
    Transitions Light Rose - 28% - 70% VLT
    Transitions Clear - 32% - 80% VLT
    Transitions Yellow - 16% - 76% VLT

    Any lens review like this should hold up the inside of the lens to the camera so viewers can see what it looks like. Sometimes the name of the lens or the outside color does not sync up with the color you see from inside.

    • @sportrxeyewear
      @sportrxeyewear  Год назад

      Hello! This is true, though it's easier to classify & name a lens based on an onlookers perspective. It's also how most people identify a particular lens, by it's outward aesthetics. The camera view from behind the lens does not accurately depict the achieved contrast and tone of many tint+mirror combinations. The Rods & Cones in our eyes pick up much more detail compared to a cameras ability to properly depict the nuances in tone, contrast, and distinction in field of view. 📷 With that in mind, we're looking for better ways to showcase the proper experience looking through the various lenses. Stay tuned!

      @@sportrxeyewear I watched another review video a while back, showcasing different lenses where the reviewer said "here's a purple lens, looks so stylish, but when you look through it's an amber tint." (I don't remember the colors but something like that) Then he holds it up to the camera from the inside and you get an idea of both the color shift and the amount of light blocking when the goggle inteior is crossing back and forth into the camera field of view (for example, half the goggle is in camera view, the other half normal scenery). That review gave me an excellent preview of what to expect, and it matched what I actually bought. However I found that the reviews only showing the outside don't tell me much beyond external cosmetics.

    No comment on the Amber and Rose which are lying in front of the Pink Ion? These two, especially amber, are often the second lens in a package. Would like to know how the amber works in cloudy and especially snowy weather and what’s the difference to the Rose, as both have 35% - only the color and therefore my mood?

    • @sportrxeyewear
      @sportrxeyewear  4 года назад

      Hi there! The Amber and Rose allow about 35% of available light through the lens. This is much less than the Pink Ion at 60%. They are darker lenses but can still be used in flat light conditions.

    hi so does this mean that the Dragon X1S pink covers cloudy weather but will transit to black and also covers sunny weather ?

    • @sportrxeyewear

      No, the lens does not transition. You would be better off with two lenses.

  • @yahya.ibrahim

    so do transitions lenses also include lumalens tech? i can't seem to find anything on the dragon website that says so.

      Hey Yahya! Yes, Dragon's transition shields have the Lumalens technology. Starting at 7:06 in the video, you will see the title of the first transition shield is the "Lumalens Transition Amber".

    Would the Dragon NFXS goggle be compatible with the sweet protection igniter helmet?

    • @sportrxeyewear
      @sportrxeyewear  5 лет назад

      Hello Wilmer! We would not be able to say for certain since we no longer carry snow helmets. However, we can tell you that many of the top helmet brands and goggle brands got together a while back to match the front curve of the helmets with most goggles. Also, the NFXS has a pretty low profile so it should work fine. Thanks for reaching out!

    Im thinking of going for the PXV. Im thinking of going for either the Red ion or Green ion, but I can’t decide... I know they have nearly the same tint, but as said, I can’t decide. Suggestions?

    first of all thanks for your great videos!
    Do you know if the PXV will work with POC helmets (POC Fornix)
    Thanks!

    • @sportrxeyewear
      @sportrxeyewear  5 лет назад +1

      Hello Michi! The PXV should be compatible with the POC Fornix. A while back all of the helmet companies met up with the goggle companies to determine what curvature of goggle lens would best match the curve of the brim on most helmets. Hope this helps!

    how about actually showing us how to change out the lenses? Not all of us have your high-end $200+ Dragon goggles.
    I clicked on this channel to get info on changing out my new NFX Snow goggles....retail at $135. Model PK Gum Sole/ Lumalens Dark. This appeared as more of promo video just selling the Dragon brand to me.

    I just got the pvx2 and notice no enhancing of the snow over my 50 dollar pair. Whats going on?

    • @sportrxeyewear
      @sportrxeyewear  3 года назад

      That is a great question! It is really tough to know exactly what is going on for you when you're looking through a lens. One thing I can say from my own experience is that Lumalens didn't seem as intensely color-enhancing for me when compared to some other lens techs out there. Did you have the same experience with both of the lenses and were you looking at the same kind of flat light back-to-back between the goggles? I'm sorry to hear that you're not having the best experience with them. If you got them from us, we would be happy to help take care of you!

      @@sportrxeyewear my old pair had no hd tech whatsoever. Just didnt notice any added contrast etc. Kinda feel like its just marketing. I didnt buy from you guys, but you guys talked lumalens tech up alot in other vids.

    I have been looking for quality goggles for Jet skiing, will these be good for that? Are any of these Polarized to help sun glare off water? If so which would you recommend?

    • @notcosmiclobsternoooo118

      I think mtb goggles might be better for that. I've seen some really great Smith mtb goggles like the Smith Squad that won't break the bank. They have their ChromaPop lenses which is their version of the lumalens

    What is better in flat light - pink ion or amber?

    • @sportrxeyewear
      @sportrxeyewear  4 года назад

      Hi there! They're both great for flat light. The difference here is the aesthetics and the base tint. If you favor seeing your environment in amber, we suggest the amber lens. Thanks for reaching out!

    would you go for the yellow or pink ion for a low light lens?

    • @sportrxeyewear
      @sportrxeyewear  5 лет назад

      Hello! Yellow ion lets through more light(80%) so it is the ultimate low light lens. The pink ion lets a little bit less light in(60%). Hope this helps you make your decision!
