I’m a carpenter 1st year of being qualified and when I watch your videos you inspire me to much such good tips, just want to be as good as you! Craftsman at its finest Scott keep it up!
Stunning work as ever mate. I noticed that Ailanthus a potential invasive tree is under the stairs of the decking. I highly recommend it gets removed. Cheers
I had an Paslode nailer as well "luckily" got stolen and i had to rethink my game. The part i hated the most was that you never new when you will run out of gas and we were using the nailer only in situations where a compressor wasn't available . So i bought a cheap Ryobi 18ga after checking reviews of makita 18 ga that were subpar for the price. Altogether with battery around $160 to my surprise after 2 years works great rarely jamming nails. Considering your climate you should never have problem with electric nailers working outside.
I’m not sure if you have done it but it would be nice to see some videos of exterior cladding and weather boards etc. Not many building channels have really got into that.
Scott Brown Carpentry I’d love to watch the details on that one. From the House wrap, to the battens, to the cladding. Especially on how you would have all of the screws line up perfectly.
For scribers you should have the blade all the way up so the back cut isn't to long you can then also use the table saw to cut the bottom of the check out and not have it show and you eliminate one tool. You also should mark the bottom of the boards while you've got ot against the weather boards making everything faster and neater
EBay Jimmy Oakes was thinking the same because I also use the table saw for both cuts and mark the under side of my weatherboards with a square set on 3mm. But it’s funny how every one has there preferred method. There is no right or wrong if they look tight 👍🏻
Hey, let's see the build-out on your mate's van. Just to see how it differs in what's carried and where. I'll reciprocate in a few weeks when mine is pretty much done. Thanks
Nice, but what to do when I can't get the right thickness of wood? I don't have a table or band saw to cut one to the right thickness. I have an old house built in 1915 and the weatherboards are 27 mm thick.
I've got Cedar weatherboards and aluminium joinery .. and need to do a whole bunch of scribers. Where and how do you hold the scriber in place while tracing out the profile. Do you need two people ..?
30K you must be making ten's of dollars with all of us lol... Good work mate. The scribers look awesome and gives the widows a nice finish... "Details are not the details they make the design".
Looks like you hit your fence with the table saw blade! I keep a rack of 15 gauge nails with my fasteners for if I need to hand drive any trim. Good work
Love that ladder I actually have both 17' and 22'. It's heavier but it's also stout and very stiff which is the aluminum ladders I prefer. The others I use I feel like the damn thing is gonna collapse or buckle and send me 17' to the ground. I'm a big chunky lad from Texas, you gone feel me fall.
Scott your vids are great mate. I have noticed however you look like crash from call of duty black ops 4. My lad was playing on it the other day and I spotted it. It's very strange. Keep up the good work mate 👍🏻
Hey mate seen when you were putting the window in at the start of the video you've left the top few boards off for the head flashings but do you not need squasher and soaker flashings for side bottoms and running to the bottom of building
30K ! - that's phenomenal - good innings mate! Those scribers look good on that house - what kind of wood is it? Hey the weather's been weird - a bit chilly sometimes aye - I see you guys with hoodies on in some scenes. cheers Scott 👍🌵
BroJared151 just gotta clamp down the scriber to something so it doesn't move and have a very steady hand or make your own jig for the skilly.....easy as mate
Get an old skill saw or new as they are cheap , some plywood screw or bolt the saw to it run the blade through turn it upside down 4x2 for legs tape the switch so it’s on even hook up a switch and there is your scriber saw . We didn’t have access to all the range of light saws in the 70’s so this worked for me for years, anyway they are expensive .
thank you, Idk If you've read my messages but thanks about uploading more videos. I know this channels gonna blow up soon. just don't forget to keep it authentic please don't sell out to making videos of just tools of one specific brand. thanks once again and keep it up.
Luis Perea for sure I agree, Scott is a easy target now, for tool grabbers, like leechers, keep it real Scott, only promote the best tools you like, or charge them for a avenue of even broadcasting there tool, money is ur time, ur the boss, run ur business as you need to, free gifts or not, pick the best, and all though ur trying to blow up ur channel, remember in a world of muthafuker s anyone one well do anything to make a a dime, kkeep true, pick the best of the best, this ain't the black caps, this the all blacks we are the best builders on the planet.
Awesome video!! I’m stoked. I’m an apprentice and I’ve seen two different ways of cutting these and the safety around it has been questionable....so I’m glad to see a third option with the jigsaw.. would you say the jigsaw is more time consuming? Or time efficient ?
best pair of kiwi clowns ive seen in a while your videos are fun to watch not to bad a builders either [ joke] Make my day watching you two work congrats on 30k you deserve more very entertaining and informative at same time keep going im sure people will notice
3:52 I feel your pain. Had to handnail about 15m2 soffit once. Just because my former employer forgot to buy the gas. And instead that one of us would get to go and buy it before driving to site.... no straight off to site and no gas for us... :/
Nice video, very informative. I noticed what I believe to be copper corner trim, could you please do an episode on fabricating and installing those? Thanks for the education.
Hi @Scott, love your videos. Watching them from The Netherlands. Just visited your website, and as an entrepreneur, I do not understand your website. There is NO contact info on your site. How does a potential customer know how to reach you? How do you get clients? Thx, keep up the good work!
Thank you scott i wish i had the knowledge to do this type of stuff on my own really id rather work for my self then to work for some fool treating me as a slave
Instead of using a pencil to scribe the head flashing, just hit the scriber with a hammer into the side of the flashing witch should give you the profile easy as🤙🏼
And this is why I still don't mind a little noisy 6 gallon compressor for any framing and trim work no batteries to recharge or go bad no gas to run out, call me old fashioned.
What a creamy little job. Sometimes when you are marking a scriber you need to mark the bottom of the weatherboard lower to compensate for the drop that will happen as it goes back. Otherwise you will have a gap at the top, like for instance when the scriber goes all the way up to the soffit. That would make a good segment if you ever do another scriber video. Scribers. V3. Level ultimate.😂
@@incync6551 well that IS compensation. I use my folding ruler. If you hold one layer of it (5mm) flat under the weatherboard, then instead of marking the top of it you mark the bottom. Or if you want to actually make the scriber move up more you can use the ruler folded in two (10mm).
I was thinking is Scot taking a risk by walking through all the plants etc at the start of the video is there something that waiting to jump out and kill him......then I it twigged you are not in Australia where everything’s it to kill you!!!! But are they stuff in New Zealand that could do you harm?

Taylor, Michigan, U.S.A., here. I love your video's. Thanks for sharing your life with us.
I keep sending my dad your videos to explain how I have done things around the house. Thanks for helping me and the old man.
Way more informative than the last scribe vid. As an owner of two old houses, I find your vids to be very informative.
Long time watcher, never subscribed, until now. You could say your scribers made me subscribe. Good stuff Scott!
Quality scribing .congrats on the 30k + subscribers bro

Scott, your vids are like a nice warm hug. The more I watch the better the cuddle. Hope your having a mean as day. 👍🏼🤙🏼
Congrats on the 30k scribers bro!

What type of wood? Will it be oiled? Are the nails stainless?
I’m not sure if you have done it but it would be nice to see some videos of exterior cladding and weather boards etc. Not many building channels have really got into that.
I've done a little bit on cedar weatherboards If I come across another cladding job I'll definitely do another one
Scott Brown Carpentry
I’d love to watch the details on that one.
From the House wrap, to the battens, to the cladding. Especially on how you would have all of the screws line up perfectly.
Watching you walk through those plants at the beginning made my face itch...

1x pin nail tack it at the top as you mark it
Anyone coming back to watch this in 2020
I saw this detail on many older homes in British Columbia with ship lap cedar, on the newer homes with the same siding- not present.
That’s so awesome!! Wow!! Fits beautifully 😎😎😎🙂
Blew up so fast dude👍🏽 Super cool Scott, next stop HGTV and Paueru can double dip and do cooking with Paueru on the food network 😎👊🏽

where is the fun in that😂

Do you find the double outter bag useful on your tool belt
Very awesome job bro
hey Scott, hows it going with that jig saw. 👍or 👎??

Freehanding on the table saw is a lot more difficult than Scott makes it look!
Hey Scott, anyway of cutting scribers without a table saw? Could it work with circular saw or jigsaw???
Easier to do it accurately on a table saw, but yes it would work
BroJared151 just gotta clamp down the scriber to something so it doesn't move and have a very steady hand or make your own jig for the skilly.....easy as mate

Be steady with a jigsaw, its very easy if you have some patience, the jigsaw also allows you to follow cups in boards in there is any.

@@godspeedjnr3068 Well said 👍
Felt your pain when you started cutting apart those collated nails! Feel like every Nail Gun owner has been there when you’re out of gas or battery XD
For sure man! Lol
DeWalt gasless guns for me. Second fix is the nuts. First fix struggles with 90mm rimshanks but still a great tool
@@elusivemite same buddy, I dont put 90 Ringshank though as cant be doing with having to hammer them home, just use 90 brights

Loving the amount of videos uploaded recently! 👍🏻
Good work, mate!
what are your thoughts on that titanium hammer after all this time
I'm enjoying it mate, the long handle can get in the way a bit. But the weight is great.
can you do roundnose scribers

Good work bud
Nice video, very informative. I noticed what I believe to be copper corner trim, could you please do an episode on fabricating and installing those? Thanks for the education.
They're an off the shelf item. I'm sure there are other suppliers but James Hardie seem to be the main one.
Que maravilla como trabaja el amigo neozelandes el saiding imprecionante saludos desde chile
