After seeing the film Christine in the theatre many years ago in winter time Alberta, Canada my wife and I got into our car but it was better than 40 below that night and of course it wouldn't start. Indeed, it would hardly turn over. As a joke to my wife I spoke to the car and caressed the dashboard (not my Mrs.) asking her to not let me down as I loved her and saying I knew she'd start for me. My wife quite horrified by the film thought my humour unfunny but when I turned the key again the car started right up. My wife and I looked and each other wide eyed... I was very, very nice to that car after that. After all, "Hell hath no fury like a Plymouth scorned."
I always named my rides. Old faithful. Betsy. And many more. But never Christine. I love the movie. And I also loved vanishing point. Both dodge. And at the time I was rockin out in a javelin. 401. 4 speed. She was slick. Lol
I remember when we were young me and a friend were sometimes talking to our cars, also thouching the dash and say "come on girl you can do this"... when she didnt start, and plenty of times it then did start... we firmly believed our cars had a soul and feelings... and we had to treat her right.... not speeding when the motor was cold, etc... we sure had more feeling with our cars then, it was much more then transportation... it was more like a girlfriend...

I remember my Great-Grandfather restoring a 1961 Plymouth Fury, he passed away in 2018 and never finished the project and I promised that I will continue the car and hopefully make him happy and proud.

He never had the time or energy to finish it. Eventually we hit a rough spot and had to sell it. I'm going to try to do everything I can to get it back. This video is one in a million. i cannot believe how much this parallels my own story. i always wanted a classic car, since i was young. After many summers and odd jobs, when i was 15 i bought my first car... a 4 door 1959 Plymouth Fury. I towed the car back from Ohio home to western Massachusetts. Good from far, but far from good. so many nights i spent in my garage, countless hours, stacks of service manuals, and a box of craftsman wrenches. I used to come home from school and no matter how terrible my day was, she was always happy to see me. Ive had my first date in that car, drive in movies, fishing trips, you name it. my senior pictures for the high school yearbook were taken with my car, and i wrote my college application essay about her, and i was accepted to my dream school with help from it. You can't drag me away from that car.

I put every last penny I had into that car and countless hours, but she got me where I needed to go and one day I figured it was time to sell it and move on to bigger and better things. I had some great Vehicles over the years, but I regret selling that car every single day of my life. Honestly, selling that car is the one thing I would change if I can go back in time. Martin is a very lucky man. Not only for having perhaps one of the most desirable and hardest to find movie cars out there, but for having such an amazing story that is reflective of the book/movie to go with it. All that hard work, all that deserved praise, and moments that wouldn't even think possible, from meeting the cast to receiving so much filming pieces.

Seeing this car made up of all the spares from the ones they destroyed is weirdly beautiful. So glad this fan dedicated his life to preservation. The autographs are the icing on the cake. Stunning restoration.

When you are just starting out from neutral, put it in 2nd gear (which has a synchronizer) which won't grind and will stop the input shaft, then go to low gear (it won't grind then) and then lift the clutch.

This was really nice, and ended up being a very sweet and tender video. I love the fact that Martin is the exact opposite of the character in the book, despite having been treated in a similar fashion. If anything, it should be a hopeful message to people out there who deal with bullies. Just because you're bullied or made fun of, doesn't mean it has to define who and what you are. I love the fact that someone with such a kind heart got this car, and that she lives, and loves instead of hates..call me a romantic, call me sappy, but this is the way every great movie car story should end. Ever since I saw the movie at 8, the belvedere and the fury (since both of the early models were practically the same) have always been one of my dream cars. Seeing this does two things. One, makes me jealous cuz man I wish I had that car. But two it inspires me to keep searching and thinking maybe I might find one after all, and shortly after seeing this I found an ad for one for sale. I just wanted to say it's an honor to see Christine back on the road again and thanks for taking your time restoring it.

There is art, style, passion, love to be felt and experienced from everyone involved here, it is just so enjoyable. Just perfect storytelling in only about 7 min. Great Camera, great narration, great editing... And there are few to get me, draw me in and even make me shed a tear or two with a piece of film. The "Movie" had nothing to do with the actual car, a 1958 Plymouth with 350 cubic inch V8 and 2 Carter WCFB carburetors that were the heart and soul of the vehicle. The beautiful car stands on it's own merits, and is above the stupidity of Hollywood horse shit mind altering crap

The 1958 Plymouth Fury is awesome! I might buy one, of course not the exact one, but you can still buy these as they are still being sold to either be restored or to collectors. I love classics, and even more people who restore them!

Not in 1963. The 1957 that I had was a race car from New York that I bought in N.C.. I had to connect the two 4 barrel carbs and put new spark plugs in and a new left rear spring. After tuning it up it would just float down the road in the high 140s. It had a 150 speedo and the needle would go flat to the right and just quiver there. Smooth ride on 900x14s on the back and 700 -14s on the front. It was the ultimate go to the beach car. I took a hammer and an 8 inch metal screwdriver and chiselled through the top in front and the two posts in the back and I could stand up behind the front seat and pick up the roof and walk it off and sit it down leaning against a tree. Then I would go to the beach in a convertible.
I say that both Christine and Imports (though we shouldn’t be arguing over this, they’re completely different, one is a specific car with a specific model year, and one is just a name for any non-domestic car) are good in their own rights.

I would substitute the straight steering column with a safety steering system. Refurbish the push button automatic transmission. Install disc power brakes. Reinforce the cabin, floor, doors, pillars and roof. Add seat belts. Then, install analog air bags. You'll have a modern safety equipped version of the iconic Christine classic car.
Man, that car is so fine! Back in the days when you felt like you were really driving a work of art and craft. I mean, who really gets into their jelly mold of a car nowadays and get the same feeling we had with the glint of chrome and gazing out over a huge hood reflecting the world going by?

Almost EVERYTHING was pretty in the 1950's, from fashion to cars to homes to furniture. All of my furniture is Mid Century modern, sometimes I rock rolled up denim jeans with Penny loafers and I hope to someday own a '57 Bel Air or '58 Plymouth. Have to love that someone very similar to the book version of Arnie made this beauty. In the books, not so much the movie, it is noted several times that Arnie's one thing he is good at is auto work. When you are just starting out from neutral, put it in 2nd gear (which has a synchronizer) which won't grind and will stop the input shaft, then go to low gear (it won't grind then) and then lift the clutch.

This was really nice, and ended up being a very sweet and tender video. I love the fact that Martin is the exact opposite of the character in the book, despite having been treated in a similar fashion. If anything, it should be a hopeful message to people out there who deal with bullies. Just because you're bullied or made fun of, doesn't mean it has to define who and what you are. I love the fact that someone with such a kind heart got this car, and that she lives, and loves instead of hates..call me a romantic, call me sappy, but this is the way every great movie car story should end. Wow..between this, and the Back to the Future original time machine restoration project, two of my all time favorite cars now have good homes. ^_^

Ever since I saw the movie at 8, the belvedere and the fury (since both of the early models were practically the same) have always been one of my dream cars. Seeing this does two things. One, makes me jealous cuz man I wish I had that car. But two it inspires me to keep searching and thinking maybe I might find one after all, and shortly after seeing this I found an ad for one for sale. I just wanted to say it's an honor to see Christine back on the road again and thanks for taking your time restoring it.

The 1958 Plymouth Fury is awesome! I might buy one, of course not the exact one, but you can still buy these as they are still being sold to either be restored or to collectors. I love classics, and even more people who restore them!

Not in 1963. The 1957 that I had was a race car from New York that I bought in N.C.. I had to connect the two 4 barrel carbs and put new spark plugs in and a new left rear spring. After tuning it up it would just float down the road in the high 140s. It had a 150 speedo and the needle would go flat to the right and just quiver there. Smooth ride on 900x14s on the back and 700 -14s on the front. It was the ultimate go to the beach car. I took a hammer and an 8 inch metal screwdriver and chiselled through the top in front and the two posts in the back and I could stand up behind the front seat and pick up the roof and walk it off and sit it down leaning against a tree. Then I would go to the beach in a convertible.

I would substitute the straight steering column with a safety steering system. Refurbish the push button automatic transmission. Install disc power brakes. Reinforce the cabin, floor, doors, pillars and roof. Add seat belts. Then, install analog air bags. You'll have a modern safety equipped version of the iconic Christine classic car.
Man, that car is so fine! Back in the days when you felt like you were really driving a work of art and craft. I mean, who really gets into their jelly mold of a car nowadays and get the same feeling we had with the glint of chrome and gazing out over a huge hood reflecting the world going by?
Mind you, in modern cars you have a much greater chance of emerging from a crash alive and even maybe uninjured. In the '50s, cars were death traps. Beautiful, but death traps.

All of my furniture is Mid Century modern, sometimes I rock rolled up denim jeans with Penny loafers and I hope to someday own a '57 Bel Air or '58 Plymouth. I grew up watching this movie and going to car shows. Even though I'm an Oldsmobile aficionado I always thought Christine was one of the best looking cars in history.
Have to love that someone very similar to the book version of Arnie made this beauty. In the books, not so much the movie, it is noted several times that Arnie's one thing he is good at is auto work. Currently reading Christine, about 1/4 way through and like it loads more than the movie (but don't get me wrong the movie is nostalgic af for me). Awesome video!!

This is my dream.I have that movie complete in my head.I was born 55 in 59 my parents traded in their 55 buick special 2 door hardtop for a new 59 fury.They kept it to 68.So I grew up in it learned to drive in it.

If any car was to be my most favorite in the whole wide world. It's going to be a Chevy Chevelle or a 1967 Chevy Malibu" and now I share a classic car that I love so much that I could almost promise myself that I'm living the same story as "The Love Bug" (i used to watch that movie over and over because it was my favorite movie as a kid)
